  1. Doesn't bother me at all. Glad to hear the turf is up for replacement.... from the games I've watched on TV this year, it looks rather worn. I'd suggest throwing the alternating color gimmick out the window and just do the whole thing in the darker green.
  2. I think Replacement Weather Guy was the final straw.
  3. He saved us from Steve Pederson and Bill Callahan. Possibly his greatest achievement
  4. It occurred to me this morning that today is the 30th anniversary of this: I'm also a St. Louis Cardinals fan who had to see the Denkinger highlight again last night, since ESPN decided it was a worthy comparison. I got a knack for picking teams that get on the wrong side of historic referee f-ck ups.
  5. I've watched it 75 times. I still can't believe that they could get it so unbelievably wrong. Never mind the obvious offensive penalty. Golden Tate never had the ball. Never. F-cking. Had it.
  6. Fullback. Has to be better than Marrow at this point.
  7. My grandparents used to take me to Parkway Bowling Alley....no joke. They were good, but I don't know about best in Lincoln. I actually like the burgers at Runza.
  8. Doesn't need to win the B1G this year, but he's gonna have to do it sooner or later. I think he'll just about have to in 2013 with the amount of talent that returns and the more favorable conference schedule.
  9. The muffed punt was obvious horse flop. The last one meant nothing. But we should be concerned about the other two, particularly the TD. The left tackle didn't have a particularly good day.
  10. Next two games Nebraska wins by 50 points and everyone feels good about themselves. Then a good win over Wisconsin, who looks completely lost right now. But October will be ugly if things don't change quickly.
  11. Yep..... the photo pretty much describes it. I was gonna say a mediocre coach with a bad temper. Which is not that far off from my own perception.
  12. At this point you need to do it. Let's see Rose, Santos, etc... I really don't see any purpose for leaving the starters in to run the score up on a couple of cupcakes other than gratifying some bruised egos.
  13. Honestly, I'd just be happy if we were as good as we were in the 80s. Win a couple of conference titles, play for the big one on occasion, play in Orange Bowls, Sugar Bowls. Not just the 81-83 teams, but even the Steve Taylor-Broderick Thomas era. We never did win a title in those days, but we were always in the conversation. I'd just like to be in the conversation again. They played solid on both sides of the ball, generally played disciplined, clean football, and tried their guts out. When they came up against the Sooners or Miami, they usually got beat, but at least we knew we were losing to some really talented teams (and as it turns out, ones with occasionally shady recruiting practices). I just miss that consistency more than anything else.
  14. I would think that as a fan, you would give all the f-cks in the world where we go from here. The season doesn't stop when you lose one game. You might have to wait for 2-3, maybe 4 weeks to see where we are as a program, and that might not be real fun. But these next few weeks are important. It's not about feeling good because we're playing a lesser opponent. We shouldn't be happy with 9 wins, but I know a lot of fan bases who would take 9 wins every year. I feel like I'm watching a program stuck in neutral. Worse yet, one that's just been passed by a program that's been irrelevant for 20 years, has a SECOND GAMER for a head coach and played 8 freshmen. You have to forgive one for feeling just a little disillusioned.
  15. It isn't a program killing loss.... the program's been dead for years. I think I only realized it now though. Up until this point, I was delusional to think we were on our way back. We're not. We're not even close. We may not ever be again. Maybe 20 years, I don't know. One guy says we're one coaching change from Notre Dame. No. We have become Notre Dame. Except they still get better recruits than we do. Perhaps this loss is too fresh for me to be objective about anything, but I've already lost my mojo for this season. 2 games in. Oh sure, there's a lot of football to be played. I don't have any reason to believe it is gonna get any better than this. If anyone wants to get excited over the possibility of going 9-4 and losing in the Outback Bowl, then more power to them. That's what we are now. I guess I should get used to it. I'm still gonna watch. I'm just not gonna get involved anymore... at least until we bring in somebody who can teach players to correctly block and tackle. I'm just glad I did see the 90s with my own eyes. I have the ticket stubs and the photos to prove they actually happened, and weren't a figment of my imagination.
  16. Who gives a f-ck? Seriously. Now we get to watch us run the score up on Arkansas State and somehow feel good about ourselves? I haven't felt so damn apathetic this early in the season in, well, never. We have hit the ceiling. 9-4 is as good as it gets without regime change. Are we as a fan base happy with that?
  17. The fact Nebraska was even in this game was a miracle. UCLA should have won by two touchdowns. This is an average football team, no better. Pelini has done his job and brought us out of suckitude, but now it's time for him to go. Otherwise, it's never gonna get any better than this.
  18. Wow... that's got to be the game, you'd think.
  19. Matt Canada. Which does explain it. After all, what do Canadians know about football? He probably thinks there's 12 players on the field and three downs.
  20. I'm stunned at how bad Wisconsin is. It's no surprise they would have trouble replacing Russell Wilson... but this is ineptitude on a grand scale.
  21. I'd like to see Mizzou lay an egg in the SEC. A&M I couldn't care less about. I just hope they enjoy the officiating. Payback times a hundred coming.
  22. Obviously no turnovers and low penalties like last week. 12 more games of that, please. Maher to make his kicks. No 100 yard returns. Somebody on D making plays on 3rd downs.
  23. Remember '88 game because I was out for some kind of social function.... rushed home knowing I'd missed the first 10 minutes or so, and saw the score was 28-0 and went "Huh?". Also, the first TD we scored is still probably the worst call I've ever seen made that went in our favor.
