  1. Figures.  2 to 3 weeks from being able to get the vaccine and catch the 'rona. Luckily I don't think it's going to be very bad at all.....unless it gets worse than the last couple days.

A stupid and careless thing to say considering the snowflake society we live in today.

Slim pickens this year for commercials.  The best ever was the Bud Light chainsaw commercial.

  4. I've never really paid attention to Tom Brady. AFC guy, nothing to do with the NFC North, good but kind of "whatever."

But as a totally disinterested football fan, I have to admit that dude is an all-time legend, and perhaps the best QB in NFL history.

Really hard to argue against that, no matter how you feel about him.

More Superbowl wins than any entire franchise.  So, yes, Brady is the GOAT QB.  As for Sunday, Suh and the defense deserve as much credit for the win as Brady. /jmho

  6. Few years back a Bag and Save (I think it was that store) was going out of business or moving locations.  Anyway, everything in the store was 50% off, including booze.  They had a nice selection.  So, if booze is 50% off, how much do you think you would spend?  I spent 100 dollars that day.

So ... maybe the cancer hospice heart attack woman died from being exposed to smarmy sarcasm from a message board know-it-all.  Clearly she took the easy way out.

The lag in reporting makes sense.  But it doesn't address the original inaccuracy I mentioned about the local woman on cancer hospice care who had a heart attack.  Should that have been counted as a Covid-19 death by the hospital?

@ZRod These are the top four results of a google search this morning:

Google News:  83,082 total Covid deaths in U.S.

      CDC:  51,495

      worldmeters.info: 83,449

      statista.com: 80,820

Normally, I'd say the CDC is the most credible source of data.  But of the four the CDC is the outlier by a wide margin with the other three in fairly close agreement.

It seems like the major news outlets vary quite a bit in their reporting of Covid-19 facts.  I'm at a loss to point to a major news source that doesn't lean this way or that.  And their stories tend to support their biases.  (With the possible exception of Reuters, which seems mostly unbiased.  I guess.)

Oh, I think there's plenty of targets for outrage to be aimed at.  The whole thing is a clusterfark.  The thing is, it's hard to know what's accurate and what is not.  There is no one source of trusted information to go to.  Every source I can think of either has an ax to grind or some other bias.

We likely won't know the number of Covid-19 deaths until we compare data from years past, like Knap said above.  In the mean time there are probably some instance of under-reporting, and certainly a lot of instance of over-reporting (since we have a gov't incentive to over-report).  Oh well.

My town (pop. 40k) has had one Covid-19 death.  Supposedly.  The 50-something year old woman was on hospice care, dying of cancer.  She had a heart attack at home and was resuscitated.  They took her to the hospital where she died.  The hospital reported it as a Covid-19 death.  Heh.

A friend told me that hospitals are getting a $17k payment for each death.  If so, that would explain the inaccuracies in reporting Covid-19 deaths.

I built my 17' x 15' deck myself for around $2,000.  It's cedar timbers with Trex planks.  I got a pretty good deal on materials though.  And it's only 3' off the ground.  One of my best projects ever!

@JJ Husker:  Yeah, I'd rather see a sequel to The Thing set in modern day.  So much potential for that.  I don't think they could improve on the original--well, except for some of the special effects maybe.  (edit:  Just read GSG's post.  I'm looking forward to it.)
