  1. @tony stolloni that was Ralph brown not mike. Still a great play
  2. I think drake and Garry are the same player (similar size and speed and position). On offense: got to go with Dixon. (I know he is a 4 star kid but no one know which side of then all he will end up) On defense: got to go with Collins. Although there are a number of players you could go with. Collins played not the type of competition you would like to see and he is still very raw but kid has a motor that you can't teach and he is a powerful, quick SOB that is not afraid of contact. With the right coaching he could be an absolute steal.
  3. I still think he might jump at an offer from us. He was just a little butt-hurt about not receiving a scholarship offer. +1
  4. he is a true pass rush threat. can't remember the last time we had one on campus. at least from the DE spot. maybe turner from a few years back? cam was more of this when he was a fresh and wasn't up to 260-270. (don't put martin into this. he was a LB that was moved to DE)
  5. Our d was embarrassing to say the least. At times they would show flashes and then they would over pursue, miss tackles, get manhandled up front, damion stafford......... I would like to think that we can't be much worse on that side of the ball next year. We live and die by Taylor Martinez but damnit does he bust his ass. Got to give him that. Others on the team need to follow that. We do not have the talent to be having all these penalties and miscommunications in big games and expect to win. Georgia did not play a clean game and at times played stupid bad football but got to give it to them. The better team won. Next year can't come soon enough. Go big red.
  6. good to hear. has there been any word about greg mcmullen? i know D line is tough for a freshman to come in and play right away but have no heard much on him to this point in camp.
  7. carriker was a beast but i would say vanden bosh or barry turner were the last pass rushers we had although it seemed turner added too much weight to retain his speed off the edge. carriker was just stronger then anyone else on the field when he was here.
  8. forgot about warfield being there. it makes more sense then minter and spot on with raymond and his recruiting.
  9. Mike Minter? Just a far fetched thought. You may now rip me a new one for it.
  10. come on now, we all know that wouldnt happen, it would be the "World Curling Championships, live from Reykjavik, Iceland"...... it is winter outside although it was 70 degrees in KC yesterday.
  11. According to rivals he has only been playing football for 2 years and has never played Dback. I do not mind that at all seeing how we have turned out some good backs lately. The kid is not a half bad qb either. He threw for more then 2,000 yards and 20 td's as a jr. He also had a game where he threw for 562 yards and 7 touchdowns. Take it for what its worth. http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1322305
  12. There was talk with him that he had some trouble with transferring schools and didn't get to play right away his sr. year. I am not sure on all the details but it is something to that effect. Its had been said that he would of had a bigger and better scolly numbers from better schools if it wasn't for all that. i think he will start at corner but he might put on some weight and be able to switch to some saftey.
  13. this is from bleacher report. not the best site. where is the 94 class with winstrom and all? the 93 and 94 classes were not that well liked by the "experts" at the time but sure seemed to pan out in the end.
  14. has soft hands and looks better on the offensive side of the ball imo. could be a fb/te as well as lb
  15. Mike Caputo is 6 foot 1 275 pounds playing center. In the NFL the average offensive lineman is between 300 and 330 pounds. Most DT's and NT's in the NFL are pushing the 285 to 310 pound mark. If Caputo ever signs a contract for an NFL team I would be shocked. As much as people have bitched about our offensive line and their inabilities to block, I am amazed people around Nebraska are so high on Caputo. I know he's a Nebraska kid and a walk on but as a center, he was responsible for making the calls up front on blocking assignments. Our offensive line has never really been very dominant since Caputo took over, we've been very inconsistent with all the false starts and missed blocking assignments. He clearly struggled recognizing defensive alignments and not only that, he was physically dominated repeatedly in games at Nebraska. The Texas AnM game comes to mind instantly. NT's were very hard for him to deal with. In the NFL it would not be pretty for him. I'm really excited to see one of our young center's on the roster take the spot over and maybe help show some improvement across the offensive line as a whole. Unfortunately, with this coaching staffs baffling decision to not give any other center game time snaps this year, it will probably be a very tough first few games or more before the center gets a real level of comfort out there. But I guess you could pretty much say that across the board for this team........ Agree 100%. I dont understand how people think he was that good. He was an average center on an average o-line. How dose he then go and compete against the best of the best? Jones is getting an invite because of his measurable and the fact that he was the best linemen (at times) we had imo but thats not saying much. Yoshi might get an invite but wouldnt be shocked if he didnt. He has a great motor but looks fat and plays fat. Other then the big 3 of ours, no one else really deserves an invite. GBR
  16. this man is a joke. being in kansas city, i have the pleasure of seeing him give me my sports on any given night. people down here feel he is a joke. this man is a mizzou fan and a complete jackass when it comes to sports team that dont wear his black and yellow. he came out earlier this year spouting off that ku should just cut their losses and get rid of the football program all together. this coming from a man who thinks he knows best because he is on tv and might be collecting his social security check. its not nebraska's fault he is getting his backside handed to him in the ratings. pure class act jack!
  17. IF bubba makes it here he will play, but not as QB. it will have to be WR or out of a wildcat. same with tuner although i feel he has a better chance at playing qb this year than bubba will. i have seen bubba play in person a few times this past year and he might be an explosive runner but seems to lack the throwing skills right now to compete at a high level for a D1 program. if reeves is fully recovered from his surgery then i feel he will be on the 2 deep at center just because we have NO depth behind caputo at center. same with moore. moore might be the most ready of any of the high school signees we got this year. both juco guys cater and stafford will also see playing time. i think stafford will start. both running back should get playing time with green i feel a for sure lock. we need to wait and see with abdullah to see if any of the other upper classmen backs not named rex will step up. charles jackson could be on the 2 deep the same way evans was this past year. peat and williams could fight there way into the 2 deep at DT but i think DL in general is one of our deepest positions right now and could make it tough to see playing time. if thats the case why waste a redshirt? bondi for sure will be the man for the next four years at least as place kicker.
  18. Comparing Santo's to Lavonte at this point is rediculous. Besides I would argue if Lavonte were to play four years in the B1G he would end up being too small and not be able to contribute. As it stands Lavonte is an amazing athlete that will likely get us through our first go around in the B1G, however we are going to need bigger LB's to withstand the downhill run style of the B1G. "If" and its a big if Santo's can get his weight up to 230-40'ish and still move ok i think he will be alright. However, I am inclined to think he wont be able to bulk up that much at his height 6' which is likely inflated, wont allow him to get that big. He may very well prove me wrong and i hope so, but i just dont see someone at his size at LB lasting real long in the B1G. I think in the next year or two we will go after bigger LB's who will eventually surpass Santos and that is why he will be rendered to mop up duty or special teams. edit: BTW Lavonte came in last year @ 6'1" 215. santos is coming in at 6" 212. the kid can play and hopefully can withstand the beating big 10 football can dish out. bo's D is based on speed. now i am not going off of the peso D because that was something that had to be done because of the people we had. if you look at the teams he has had in lsu and with oklahoma, speed was the name of the game. bo's D won 38-24 against THE ohio state in 2007 for the national championship. you may be right with santos but i hope bo's past will be a sign of what he can do with david.
  19. billdozer15, how can you say that santos is too small? what was lavonte's size when he came here 2 years ago? his playing weight was 210-215 all year. are you saying that david is too small to play big 10 football? i am not trying to talk sh*t on your post, just trying to make a point that possibly you have not thought of yet. santos will have 4-5 years to put on some weight. i think he will be ok. he will not pull a chris williams on us.
  20. what about ron brown coaching TE and at least helping with the WR? while he was here the first time around we had the best blocking WR in the country year in and year out. let him help coach the technique for blocking and have someone in here that can help our WR learn how to catch and run a route. just a thought.
