  1. Frank Solich and the Bobcats clash with Turner Gill and the Bulls. Thoughts?
  2. I didn't like losing to T Tech and even less to Iowa State, but I REALLY like the position we are in now. Look at what is in front of NU, not what is behind. We are 6-3. We have a shot at our first 9-win regular season since...well, 2003. We have a shot at representing the North at the Big 12 title game...and yes, we control our own destiny in that area now whereas with a loss to OU we would have needed help. Our defense is playing outstanding. Helu appears healthy. And, it's just me, and yes, I am high on the big W, but I just feel like this offense is going to break out soon. Maybe it was the running by Helu. Maybe its the thought of getting Rex back for CU. And, finally, I feel good about going down to Arlington and getting a shot in on those Longhorns. They won't take us seriously. And we might have the best defense in this league. If we could run the ball and play some awesome D, I give us a chance. I just don't believe Texas is all that much better than OU. COME on HUSKERS...... TIME TO ROLL........
  3. Could always try to throw a shot in the ole lady. That always cheers me up. My old lady, not yours. Thanks for clearing that up....
  4. KU and KSU....remember the days when this game meant NOTHING. Gosh, the good old days. Man, I miss em sometimes.
  5. I remember last year's OU gameday like it was yesterday. I got up on Saturday thinking that we really wouldn't have much of a shot to win in Norman. Like this year, it was a night game, so that gave me all day to think about it and think of ways we could win. If we could just hang in there early. And Ganz is a pretty good QB. And, we looked good against T Tech and all that. My wife made chilli. It cooked slowly all day. I bought some of my favorite brew. Chilli, brew, a Husker win. I was set. Then the game started, and, you know the rest. The chilli didn't taste as good. The beer didn't taste right either. The game was a wreck. I just wanted to go to bed and forget Saturday ever happened. Obviously, over the past few years, we have gotten a lot of practice at this disappointment thing. It really sucks when it ruins your day or your weekend. Guess its part of the whole fan thing. Any advice on getting past the case of the downs that follows an NU loss? Not that it will happen tomorrow. Oh no, here I go again.
  6. I'll tell you what is rich is NU fans trying to tell OU fans how to act. It's funny we bring up the 90's with regards to OU when we're basically living through the same thing with the exception of probation, sanctions, etc. OU has constant accomplishments. I believe Stoops holds the record for amount of consecutive BCS bowl appearances. Just so I'm clear, it's ok for us to talk about tradition even though its ancient history but not ok for OU to talk about constant accomplishments. If I were an OU fan, I'd be asking how the 2004 and 2007 seasons worked out for NU. I'd be bringing up the game from last year. I'd basically bring up nearly every game played this decade with the exception of one. or the switzer years, sweatshirt held a 12-5 advantage over Dr Tom. barry absolutely OWNED TO. with the exception of probation, sanctions, etc. And Barry cheated....then went to Dallas and made an a@@ of himself by carrying a loaded gun to the airport. It isn't always just about winning!!!
  7. Yes, that is true. The 2003 defense was good at forcing the turnover. That unit also got WORKED by Texas, Missouri and K-State. The goal of the defense and special teams is to create field position for the offense. Both have done that very well for NU this year. We just simply do not have an offense that can take advantage of those chances, with the exception of the MU game. If Oklahoma gets good field position consistently on Saturday, they will blow us out. It is that simple. We have to play field position ball and get whatever shots in that we can on offense.
  8. All this reminds me of a basketball trick play I always thought was cool... Here is the situation... and, for the sake of explaining, I will use Nebraska and OU as the teams. Nebraska has the ball out of bounds under the goal in which they are shooting at and there is a timeout on the floor. When the huddle breaks, three Husker players go down to the goal the Huskers are defending while two players go back to where the ball is being taken out of bounds, let's say a center and a guard. Oklahoma breaks the huddle and all five players go down to the goal that Nebraska is defending, thinking that the Huskers are going to inbound and dribble up the court. Instead, the Husker center takes the ball, the play is whistled live, and he just tosses in bounds to the gaurd who shoots a lay up. Sometimes athletes get into such a mind set that they see something familliar... and they just go with it, without thinking....Hey, Nebraska isn't shooting against this hoop.
  9. Nebraska turned the ball over eight times against the Clones and gave up nine points. Yea, their O was just working us over something fierce. Oh, and I forgot what OUs record is.... 5-3, same as NU, so don't go all Joe Cool here on the Huskerboard. In that 5-3 record...a loss to BYU, a team that got blasted by Florida State, which is a team that has shown zero consistency. The Miami and Texas losses don't look bad due to the margin and the talent on the other side.... But BYU... are you kidding me with that. I am just glad for one thing.... OU has THREE LOSSES, one of them being to TEXAS. And unlike last year, this set back to the Horns will keep the Sooners from a BCS bowl apperance. Sniffle, sniffle. That just breaks my heart. I don't know if I can take it. Oh, wait, yes I can, and quite well.
  10. The Sooners are just VERY, VERY high on themselves..... As per their web site... Unlike some schools where tradition represents ancient history, or others where it harkens back only a few years, Oklahoma's tradition is a constant accomplishment unfettered by eras or time. How about the 1990s.....hmm, that didn't work out so well, now did it.
  11. Bad strategy....SUH will smash right into the Sooner ball carrier, then take out two or three more while he is at it.... LOL
  12. Here is my the game as I have played it out in my head.... 1st Q, Alex Henery, 40 yard field goal 1st Q, Broyles, 50-yard pass from Jones. PAT, kick. 2nd Q, Cody Green, 40-yard run. PAT, kick. 2nd Q, Cody Green, 50-yard pass to Brandon Kinne. PAT, kick. 3rd Q, N. Suh, forced fumble. Larry Asante, 40-yard return. PAT, kick. 4th Q, Cody Green, 25-yard pass to Kinne. PAT, kick. 4th Q, Broyles, 10-yard pass from Jones. PAT, kick. Final NU 31, Sooners 14 C. Green, 75 yards rush, 225 pass R. Helu, 75 yards rush B. Kinne, 7 catches, 120 yards This proves a few things.... I have a desire to see Kinne live up to his hype as Mo Purify like.... I have a desire to see Cody breakout for a huge game...I have A LOT of faith in the defense....I love the Huskers, and, lastly, I like to daydream.... :0) Would be cool if it would happen.... IN the meantime, I will just go crazy on the.......
  13. My daughter is five years old. To hear of this young boys illness is soul crushing. It's just a reminder that the game on Saturday might seem important to the teams, players and fans, but, the grand scope, it means nothing.
  14. An OU fan talking trash about how much the Domers think of themselves... That's rich. Maybe you should change that sign to.... Play like Boise State or Florida or USC or West Virginia or LSU....really, should I go on?
  15. Here it comes....the only time this Republican will ever quote Obama..... YES WE CAN

You said there would be people who would deny the rivalry. Well, count me in that group. The problem is that I can't hate the Buffs. When Colorado or any other team from the North loses, my first thought is that it looks bad for the North and bad for the conference. My second thought is that I don't really mind if the Buffs win. When CU plays KSU...I could care less who wins. When KSU had OU on the ropes....I got my hopes up. I thought an upset was about to happen. Then, when it was obvious that OU could not lose...well, I changed the station and thought....stupid Wildcats, finish the job. When it comes to OU....I don't care what it looks like for the Big 12, I want them to lose. I want them to lose badly. I never want them to win. I am still laughing that Boise State beat the Sooners. Heck, I am still laughing that Hawk pulled the upset on the Sooners. Every game the Oklahoma team loses represents one thing and one thing only.....a good start. May the Sooners always lose. May the Huskers always win. GBR
  17. I don't think we do it much now. The idea is to keep people healthy. And, not only that, but the green jerseys for the QBs, Helu and Brooks are lame. Either they can play or they can't. If they can't practice and get hit, how are they going to play in the game and get hit?
  18. Like to play pool? Go to Big John's Billiards. Darts, Pool, TVs....food, and close to downtown
  19. A new name for Nebraska's offense..... System of a Down
  20. We aren't good. And by that, I mean we have no playmakers, and the few we have are hurt. No one has emerged at WR. A few, like Niles, show flashes, but no consistency. No one has emerged at RB. Helu and Rex are hurt. Mendoza continues to slide down the depth chart. No one has emerged at QB. We are going to a true freshman over a guy with all kinds of experience in the system. No one has emerged on the line. Cotton has not produced a physical line for us. No one has emerged at tight end. Most of the time, the tight end position is a complementary one, not one to hang your hat on. Take Dallas. They have one of the top TEs in the NFL, but until Miles Austin emerged of late, the team struggled in the pass game. Sorry to say, it doesn't look like this situation will change. We have to hope for development and a crop of good recruits now.
  21. There is always someone out there to rain on the parade.... Even in the 90s I had so-called Husker fans saying I shouldn't be happy we won because..... Well, don't get carried away, that Frank Costa led Hurricane team wasn't anything like the Gino Torreta version... And, yea, so we beat the heck out Florida, but they are overrated.... and Eric Crouch, he has to be one of the worst Heisman winners ever...Frazier deserved it more...and on, and on, and on. The HECK with you guys. If the Huskers win Saturday, I am tipping back and cold one and enjoyed the moment for five seconds. As for the so-called fans who made the statements above, well, I continue to disagree. Who is HUSKER BCS? Cause I assure you, I am not that poster, whoever it is. Believe what you want.
  22. Why demote BO to co-head coach? Well, let's see if he handles the whole job first. He is NOT working with the offense. BO is a great defensive coordinator. At this point, he has no track record as a head coach. If BO has done something to lead this entire team and not just the defense, I want someone to tell me what that may be. I love what BO is doing with the D, but we have to get a whole team going here, not just one side of the ball. Watson is working the offense with little or no help from BO. You could say that BO has the same relationship with Wats that Osborne has with BO....slight oversight only. If BO can't take charge of the offense, then someone needs to.....that would be TURNER. And I know that BO does a good job with the defense, but, for the love of PETE, if he doesn't want to fix what is wrong with the offense, and he wants to stand in the way of progress out of being prideful, then WE WANT TURNER as the head coach. TURNER is a humble guy who would put the health of the entire program over anything else. I am rooting for BO, and certainly this thing is not over. But, let's face it, if the season ends, and BO does nothing to address what is a major problem on the offensive side, well, he's lost his credability at that point. I don't understand how we can look at what BO has been able to do in the span of two years and argue that Watson needs more time to fix the offense. He has been here longer than two years and should have a definite grasp of our team and what we need to focus on to be successful. Rant off
  23. Ask Turner first. Don't just assume he wouldn't do it. We can certainly give him a co-head coach title, if that is what it takes. And, quite frankly, if that makes Bo mad....well, he shouldn't be here then.
  24. THIS SUCKS. We not only are losing...struggling in every way offensively and taking it in the shorts to Iowa State... Now I can't even take a momentary respite from negativity just to savor a win. I simply don't care who the foe is....because I understand a loss this week means a loss next week, and probably the next week, and at this rate, maybe the feelings of negativity will last all season. DON'T listen to those who say, well, don't be happy, it was just Baylor. Hey, I realize that. And I also know who's coming to town on Nov. 7, just let me have this moment for the love of all that's holy.
