  1. The problem I see there, is if he would turn down Nebraska, what big name would satisfy, and what big name would say yes. If a hometown boy that lead said school to a NC does not want to return, there would have to be reasons. It really is putting us in a very bad situation. Hopefully for Nebraska fans, he comes home. I understand the money side for the next coach, but I would really prefer someone that wanted to be here, and didn't just come for the money. If Coach Frost says no, that is what we will be getting I am afraid.
  2. In honesty, I think Coach Frost would be good for Nebraska, but still feel there are others that have experience at the Nebraska level. Going from UCF to Nebraska is a big change in many many ways. Not a big fan of Chip Kelly, but he has ran a program that is comparative. I am really concerned who we get if Coach Frost says no. And how the fan base will react. A huge kick in the balls, plus the next coach will know they were not even considered to be worthy. Not a good way to start. There have been some very good recommendations, and I fall in line with those. Matt Campbell seems to have put quite a team together. I don't know that I really want Coach Frost, but I know he is really all the fan base is going to welcome.
  3. I think you guys can make 200 pages if you pull together, Hip Hip Hooray! I had a colonoscopy yesterday. I thought all the crap was over.
  4. I am a geezer, so I know. lol Just over 70 now, 2 years ago, was riding a mountain bike everyday, doing set ups and pushups and the rowing machine. Could maintain a 140 heart rate for close to two hours. But in the last 6 months, I have lost that drive. My point is, he may have just got tired. I still run a business and try to train, but I could not imagine doing the job Coach Riley is/was doing today. That seems to be how fast it happens. I know he is in good shape for his age, but when you get old, sometimes it just happens all of sudden. I know it did for me.
  5. Are you truly disappointed in the results on the field. Is this period in your life going to bother you, as an failed attempt. Would you have done things differently? Do you feel you owe the fans of Nebraska an apology. If so I accept that, and for me it is time to move on. I would tell him that I am sorry it did not work out for Nebraska, but just as much for him. Nice guys should win sometimes.
  6. I knew who he was, actually followed him a little bit. I work for an SC grad that felt he was the best coach in the Pac 12. He said they always worried about the Oregon State game, because coach Riley always got more out of less. He felt we were headed for great things. I watched him beat SC a couple of times, and truly thought the same. Unfortunately for Nebraska and Coach Riley, things did not work out as most of us hoped. He seems to be great person, that gave it a real try. But just too much for him I am afraid. The play of his team on several occasions has been embarrassing no question, but his actions have never made me embarrassed to be a Nebraska fan. I hope this closes out his coaching career, and I wish him nothing but the best. I truly expect his departure to be a mutual agreement, that works out to be fair for Nebraska. Sad to see the person go, but not the level of coaching we watched.
  7. I am no longer an insider, but was during the 1st Pelini departure, I have known Coach Osborne for over 40 years. I have a pretty good idea how he thinks and how he responds. I know exactly what he would say if I asked him about the situation, so no need to pretend I know a thing about it. I do know that Scott is very close to him and he would want what is best for Scott, not so much what might be best for Nebraska. He knows the good and bad of being a Nebraska head coach, and if successful, how hard it is to step away. I do feel if Coach Frost wants to come to Nebraska, Coach Osborne would happily endorse it. If he is ready to move, sounds like he has several top flight programs to choose from. All have passionate fans, and money to invest in his vision. I wish him luck in what ever he decides, and strongly hoping he chooses Nebraska. Could live with him staying at UCF, but would be quite unhappy if he chose another program over Nebraska. It would certainly tell me that Nebraska is no longer considered a destination job. We just have to keep hoping he comes home.
  8. Her/His presence on both boards may be a trick for clicks. I haven't looked at the other site to see if she/he is playing the other side. But something has never seemed quite right with the posts being made.
  9. I am pretty sure he is being told to consider that by a man that has been attached to Nebraska for his adult life, and can not get away. I think he enjoys that some, and part of it not so much. Coming here for Scott Frost is considered a life time commitment by many on this board. He may have higher goals or he maybe just happy as heck where he is at. No body knows but a very select few, and they aren't talking about it. I just hope the fan base does not go too crazy what ever happens.
  10. I think you are correct on that, and it would not surprise me to see him do that. I think he wanted this chance, I am sure he feels he has failed. I don't think he took the job for the money. He should be well set financially anyway.
  11. Absolutely correct it is my opinion. And I will voice it when ever I want to. I listen to everyone else's over and over.
  12. This thread is not about Riley, it is about Scott Frost. Coach Riley most likely is gone, but there is absolutely nothing that says Coach Frost is coming here, and if he is, I doubt we hear for sure until after their conference championship if they make it.
  13. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. And by the way, what have you or anyone else done to lure him here?
  14. I have read the same crap over and over and over and over for 69 pages. You guys just love flopping around in it. My few posts state not everyone has a herd mentality. So keep whining and wishing. It does not make a bit of difference. It may do more harm than good if he ever read this crap.
  15. Loyalty, a word it seems most on this site do not understand. His loyalty might be to the kids he has recruited. He may have told them, you give me your all, I will do the same. We don't know the answer to that. Some seem to think you are only loyal if the money is enough. I think we are dealing with a Coach very similar to Coach Osborne in ethics . We are just going to have to wait and see. 50 or 300 pages of hearing what he should do, might do, will do, could do, what some wished he would do is not going to make a bit of difference. And listening to anyone that gets their information from the media or internet on the hush hush is not reliable If we don't get him, it wasn't meant to be.
  16. And where is it stated he has to take the highest offer? I would not offer Urban Meyer or Saban ten years. Some of you are going to curl up and die if he stays at UCF. In honesty last nights UCF game was not that impressive. Not worth 7 million a year or a ten year deal. And this having a baby deal is way over hyped. There are young men all over the world facing grave danger that have wives having babies. It does show his priorities though. His immediate family will have a strong word in what happens.
  17. My guess is she will taking another leave of absence shortly.
  18. We are pretty sure that Coach Riley is gone. But I saw a team yesterday that did not quit. Some would say it was just Northwestern, but in the prior weeks they have beaten both Iowa and Michigan State, who in turn yesterday beat Penn State and Ohio State. I think a lot of teams we play are better than we give them credit for. Just hope who ever ends up with this job has the ability to make the fan base happy. Not by just saying yes, but on the field results.
  19. No, defensive player was not touched. He was in the process of throwing and the hit changed the direction of the ball. Not a bad interception on Tanner, just some bad luck there.
  20. Frank nor Bo were fired for wins or losses. Frank has never been approached by a major player, some reason. Pelini never will be. Reasons beyond football control their futures. We are not playing in a conference where we are one of the big two giants, and the rest are dwarfs. That scenario no longer exists in college football. For this program to win, it is going to take great coaching, and even better recruiting. The Baby Boomers are dying off and as they go, so will the sell out record. A very large number on this board, some claiming to be the biggest fans, say they don't want to attend games, would rather watch it on the big screen at home or at a bar. Some people are putting so much faith in Coach Frost, if he doesn't come here for what ever reason, will it be a death blow to a lot of fans that seem to be on the edge?
  21. Northwestern, want to be sure and fit in with the rest of the board.
  22. We need linemen nothing but linemen. Big mean nasty linemen. You can't make them out of skill players. We need the big uglies, and have for quite awhile I think
