  1. Reality is I stated it would take 3 years minimum to get back to being a compeitive team. We have put too much stock in games against proven losers. Missouri destroyed us at their house the last time we played there. They have talent, and Smith leaving will have little affect on the QB playing. Daniels will be very very good. We just need to understand how far we had fallen. I know 9-3, but the same kind of ass whippings from top teams were being dealt in those 3 losses. This shows that Pelini was no miracle worker and neither is Coz. You need the talent and for the previous staff that was not a priority. It will take longer than most think and most are not willing to give the staff a chance. We need time, I stated early in the year out talent was on par with Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma State. Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, A&M, Texas and Colorado are still way ahead. No matter how hard that is to believe it is reality. Just going to take the time to get what we need to be competitive. Like it or not.
  2. I am normally pretty upbeat about the team. But after the ass whipping we took yesterday, at the hands of a single athlete, I have way more concerns today than before. We are not a top 25 team. Period. We will not be next year to start off. I seriously doubt we have the talent to make it much of a game. USC most likely will win the MNC this year again. They will lose a lot next year but their talent level is so deep it will be hardly noticed against Nebraska. We have a very long road back to being competitive with a top 15 team. Texas dismanteling of Tech should give you some idea of where we truly are. Reality is we are still way down on talent, Lucky is not nor ever will be another Bush, Glen is not nor ever will be Earl Campbell. Taylor is not nor ever will be Matt Linart. We do not have an offensive line player except Mann, and I truly do not see much coming that makes a major difference. Two more years of great recruiting may just possibly get us into the top 15. But we are not nor will we be competitive with SC next year or the following. Reality!! We are making improvement from where we were, but give it the time it takes. For years the media has told us just how bad our talent level is. It should be evident by now. God forbid we have to face Texas. Suicide watch will triple in Nebraska if that happens.
  3. Being that Tech is my second favorite team I want them to win the game. Texas beat them last year at Lubbock, but Tech seems to play Texas at home better. Two years ago, Texas just squeaked it out in the final couple of seconds. Tech won the statistics battle by a land slide. There were some who said all along that Tech was the only one in the Big 12 South that could beat Texas. We lost in the final seconds to a very good team. We have nothing to be ashamed of. Tech wins the south it makes our game look alot better. Texas will not emabarass the Raiders this year. It will be down to the very end. Tech and Nebraska are becoming a slight rivalry. Tech absolutely hates Texas and has since great grandpa played. This should be a very interesting game. But we need to worry about Missouri. We have to get by them for anything good to happen.
  4. I love BC, but in honesty he has done nothing to even be considered coach of the year. We have beaten cup cakes and lost to the only quality team we played. Unrealistic comes to mind. In honesty if he wins the rest it will mean nothing unless we should happen to win the CCG. The chances of that are way way way out there. With Wake, Pitt and Iowa state falling apart our schedule is a joke. I had expeceted it to be better as the year went along but in honesty it is getting worse. We do not play another ranked team until the CCG if we get there. That is not the schedule that would get you a quality bowl or coach of the year. Sorry, just to far out there for me to swallow.
  5. Zac is a given, bot on offense Swift is looking good. Defense, I think McKeon is doing a great job. ST, I would say Congdon and then you have Rigoni. Tough little sh#t he is!!!!!!
  6. I went to the Troy/Missouri game and Chase played. He looked pretty good, seems to be a better passer than Smith. They have a tricky little running back, number 20. He is quick outside. I expect to see them use him on swing passes and the such. Missouri will be in good hands after Smith leaves though. This freshman looked good on the day I saw them play.
  7. There is a misconception that Joe was here to run the option. He was suppose to be the intital change to a more balance offense. He was not recruited to run the option as the base offense. He never recovered from the near decapitation, and the shoulder injury did not help. To me he always seemed timid after those two incidents. But I agree some of his desire to take a hit was ordered by the coaching staff. He was all we had period last year. I am beginning to wonder if it is not the same this year. Personally I would rather let Joe move on. He was a great kid and he did all he was capable of doing. Zac is not living up to what some expected from him, but he is making improvement. Personally I am glad both were on the team. Joe displayed the type of character needed to play the game. But with all the turmoil he had to face it is easy to see why he had problems. This team was a real mess last year, not only the talent and heard, but the coaching was suspect at times. I would rather we just appreciate what Zac is doing and move forward.
  8. True quarterbacks in college are drafted to play QB. Brook was the last that had that ability.
  9. You take information for what it truly is worth. Nameless does get a lot of information and he passes it on. You have to decide whether it is valuable or not. I have found him to be very knowledgeable. I trust he is giving information he heard and he trusts that source. He shares it openly and is open to ridicule if it is not correct. But he trys to keep us enlightened. Last year I was told shortly after spring practice that Incognito had played his last down at Nebraska. I posted that in around about way and was demanded to provide sources. My source works in the AD. I could not let his name out so I said just wait and see. Sometimes you hear things that do not sound true, sometimes they are not, but the chance of knowing the inner workings is always interesting.
  10. Running a balanced attack in Junior College and running the WCO under BC are two totally different things. Terminology would be the main problem. His only advantage is that he knows how to pass and can distinguish the different colors of the uniform. You are thinking of Beck with all the WCO experience I think. Frank did not have the ability to recruit a quarterback. None of his have been able to play the position period. Crouch was not a quarterback no matter how much we want to call him that. He was a great athlete directing an offense that allowed him to run. We could not depend on his arm to win a game. I personally never felt Joe would make it and have always stated so. God knows I wanted him to but he almost always threw behind the reciever. He was not fast enough nor durable enough to run the option or QB keeper of Franks. There is absolutely no comparison between these two kids.
  11. Hey I like Joe. He did everything he could but just did not have the talent to run the WCO. I honestly do not feel he will ever play another down of QB at a major program. He could not run the Nebraska offense the times it was intrusted to him. Frank did not offer him to Ohio. He knew the true talent level. Also he was not recruited to run the option. He was recruited supposedly to run a more balanced offense. The talent was not there no matter how they try to make them look the same, Taylor is light years ahead of Joe and always will be.
  12. I don't think we are counting the touchdowns thrown to the other team by Daily.
  13. Okay who stole the real Formerfan. Come out you imnposter. I am quitting this site if we allow identity theft. Shame on you for being so nice, former would never agree to that
  14. Spot on Eric, we have accomplished nothing at this time. Our only game that could have moved us up was lost. All that matters is wins and losses to the media. Not how you played. We win we will get the respect. I think a lot of us look for respect that in honesty we are very short on giving anyone else when they show improvement.
  15. With this team the next game is always going to be the most important. But man are they fun to watch. This aint no cloud of dust offense. I am truly beginning to enjoy watching this team more than some of our best. They are under talented, not suited for the offense and are still moving forward every game. I am very impressed with what BC and staff have down with this team. The future is bright, the cup is half full and we are the BIG RED again!!!!!
  16. Teams that have the talent rise to the top no matter the coaching according to some. I guess that is some what accurate. Most refer to Texas, well I would take the job poor old useless Mack Brown has done. Every year in the top ten or top 5 what a terrible plight to have to carry. It is normal for Alabama and Penn State to have very good recruiting classes compared to what Nebraska gets. Much larger population and get the home grown kids that normally rank considerably higher than Nebraska kids. Not saying we do not have talent, but the population base allows them to do a better job even if it is not rated as high. Notre Dame always has talent and always will. Too many coaching changes cause their problems. Weis inhertited a goldmine, it just was not quite as loaded ast Florida. Meyers felt he had a better chance of winning with Florida talent than ND talent. Notre Dame will be hard to stop from now on. Weis has hit the recruiting hard. They have quite a few top 100 athletes and with super bowl rings on your finger it opens the door rather quickly, especially with an offensive genius doing the recuriting. They will rise to power very quickly and may dominate like SC is doing now in a few years. I think they are the only ones that have that ability due to their fan base. But Alabama has been down for a long time. I hope they make it back to being a top ten school. I want Oklahoma back up there to. College football does not look right with Boise State, Louisville and Utah up there to me.
  17. Thanks for the positives Harrellin05. I have been a Husker fan for nearly 50 years. I have enjoyed the good times and the bad times. I have seen this following develop from most who really did not care to a tremedous backing no matter the results. I attended the game in Lubbock last year and the Holiday Bowl in the alumni group. I must admit that my time attending Raider games reminds me very much of my first years as a Husker fan and booster. Great people, warm and friendly, wanting to win but not demanding to win. Your fans attitude is a lot like Nebraska fans. I want to tip my hat to you as a fan of Tech for your consideration and timely thoughts. I think we are seeing the beginning of another rivalry. I am proud to say that I support both programs. And will always be cheering for the Raiders other than in the Nebraska game. Good luck to you against the South, and hopefully we can meet again in the CCG. I truly like both of our chances. But I think given another chance Nebraska will close the door a little quicker.
  18. Buy what you want from Weis. The talent was there to run the offense he wanted to run. Now I will say he is recruiting our butts off right now. There has never been a problem of getting talent to ND. Tyrone changed the offense just like BC. I think he would have done well this year, just like Zook at Florida. We did not have the level of talent to even win with our old offense, let alone a new one. Time corrects things.
  19. This is a different team. This team believes it can win every game. They trust each other. Our defense is real, not a bunch of mirrors like Pelini's. The talent has been developed. I think this game is only going to make this team stronger, maybe a lot stronger. This is the type of team we had in the 90's. Not the talent but the attitude. This is only going to get better. We may just have the chance to avenge this loss in December. Keep the faith.
  20. Most felt Notre Dame would have been winning this year with the talent they have gotten the last couple of years. They did not change their system, somewhat WCO by both coaches. Weis just did not have to do the work that BC has had to do. Penn State got two or three 5 star recruits this past class and they are playing. I can not say much about Alabama. But they have been down the longest. We had a great game Saturday. NO we did not win. But the future was displayed. But this is not new for Nebraska. We have lost many games we should not have lost when the storied Coach was here. Iowa State, Missouri, Kansas State, Colorado, all have risen from the dead during the watch of Osborne and Solich. Pairity is happening.
  21. SC seems to be doing pretty well with those type of players. Auburn has had a good run, LSU seems to have found the answer, Ohio State looks to be okay, and could be Texas will get it done this year. Forgot SC again sorry. The only exception to a top recruiting class was Ohio State. And they have been filling up ever since their MNC. And I personally would take Texas's problems over ours anyday. No matter the story it boils down to talent. I do not know if this staff knows what it is doing or not. I do know they certainly know more than anyone who posts on this thread. So I will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt. Those that won't will never be happy either way.
  22. Utah, I never said we were a BCS team. I said that this is the only team on our schedule that would get us credit towards a BCS bowl. I would guess if we went undefeated through the regular schedule and lost to Texas, we would not get a BCS game. Right now we would have to depend on Wake Forest to do well and Tech to do well. Colorado already got bombed by Miami. The rest of us just beating up on each other will get us no respect. I have no visions of graduer. I think the team is improving and I like our chances at a decent bowl.. That is about it. Still think there are losses out there but do feel the corner has been turned. But we will know a lot more about our team tomorrow afternoon.
  23. You guys suck!!!!!!! Getting to go to every game. Man I wish I had planned for this game instead of Wake and Pittsburgh. I will be screaming as loud as I can but I doubt it helps much. Have fun and scream louder for me!!!!!
