I have student tickets in East Stadium. The gates usually open 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Getting in line right before the gates open (after getting your wrist band, of course) usually gets me and a few of my friends in the Row 15-20 range. It's nowhere near the mad dash for seats in East like it is in South--students literally sprint up the ramps over there. Oh, and be a stickler about saving your seats if you need to. I've seen more than my share of arguments about who saved what and other elementary schoolyard fights.

Not really surprising actually. Its an internet poll. we always win those. Take note of this Big 10 fans. If you ever set up an online poll involving Nebraska, you may have to rig it against us. Nebraska fans litterally rule online voting. I really don't know what to think of that, if that's impressive or not. Just ask Herbstreit. I think he's still throwing that hissy fit...

I follow UNO Maverick hockey, and like someone already said, there's no Big 10 hockey league. Hockey conferences are completely different. In fact, UNO was in the same conference as Ohio State and Michigan until this last season, and now they themselves realigned with a different conference that includes Wisconsin and Minnesota.

I especially don't see OU fitting into the Pac-10. Sooner fans are going to turn sour towards Pac-10 culture pretty fast.

To quickly answer the topic question: Hell no. I've lived in a lot of very different places: Florida, Rhode Island, Washington State, and Nebraska while residing stateside. Then there's the combined seven years spent living in Iceland and Japan. I've been in Nebraska for quite a while after moving here from Japan and, quite honestly, it's the first place I've ever considered to be "home", as cheesy as that sounds. For one, it's affordable: try living just outside Tokyo and Yokohama for three-and-a-half years and see what that does to your budget. Iceland was the same story affordability-wise---and talk about a place that's really in the middle of nowhere with practically nothing to do. There's only so many times you can go view the falls and the hot springs. And good luck affording a Friday night outing in Reykjavik. Not happening. In NE you get a great house, great neighbors, the option to eat-out whenever the heck you'd like, the flexibility to splurge on your vacations (or even TAKE vacations!), some world-class attractions (I've been to countless int'l zoos--very few are even in the same league as the Henry Doorly), good public schools, etc. I'm never at a loss to find things to do in Omaha. One of my favorite outings is an evening in the Old Market followed by a show or UNO Hockey at the Qwest, or a concert at the Holland. Then there's always the CWS in the summers, a week that geeks-out any baseball fan. Two of our neighboring families are retired active duty. One family is originally from Florida; their original plan was to finish up his 20 years then retire and move back to FL. However, they all love it here so much that they're making Nebraska their permanent residence. A big reason was the fact their special needs daughter made more progress with the public school's special education program than anyone thought possible. Their past experiences in SPED programs around the country were horrific. The other family are all native Hawaiians. Yet they retired here and opened a contracting business, and now are working on getting a vineyard started in Glenwood, IA. Don't tell me they could've done all of that in Hawaii.

Yeah, what was that? You'd think that would be something they wouldn't want highlighted. But nope, we're actually going to go interview the guy in prison. And mention it all...game...long. It was embarrassing.

He looked like an idiot when he said that. If you're going to be the one questioning all the results, at least get your facts straight. Four top-ten teams in your schedule isn't exactly what constitutes a "lack of competition."

I'm (mostly) over it, but I really couldn't pass this up. It's a bit too damning to ignore.

Yeah, I thought I had let it go too until a few minutes ago. According the officials' logic in the OSU vs. BYU game, Nebraska should've won. This is exactly what people meant by lack of consistency. Why are those 2-3 seconds not as important as that one second?

The first and most obvious thing: What in the HELL is Congress doing in all of this?! GTFO! Apparently they're that desperate for better polling numbers that they'll ignore actual serious issues and abolish the BCS. Yeah, we all don't like/hate the BCS, but at least we have our priorities in order. KYFHO! There obviously isn't a perfect solution to this or else we'd have it already. I'd prefer not to do away with the bowl system, it's too classic, nor take the significance of the regular season away, as in NCAA basketball. The different conferences work as a playoff system, with the season culminating in a CCG. If conferences want their teams to vie for the NC game, then they must have a CCG. The winners of the conferences go to a playoff system, possibly with classic bowls (Rose, Sugar, Cotton, Holiday, Fiesta, etc.) being the venue for the playoff games. Those teams that do not make the playoffs can be invited to lower-tiered bowl games as they are already. The thing here is numbers: there's eleven "BCS conferences", but only eight of these have teams that are NC material. Would conferences need to be shuffled around? How many playoff games do you want? If there's eight conferences vying, through December you have two rounds of playoffs, with the NC game in early January. And Notre Dame, Army, and Navy would have to dump their non-AQ status if they ever want to compete for the NC. Problems with this, though: These players are still students, remember. December is tough academically-speaking. Do you extend the season further into January? It's also the holidays: these guys have to see their families at some point. All of this was just me brainstorming as I wrote. Feel free to tear it apart.

I find it somewhat telling that Green was able to produce a TD-scoring drive, something Lee wasn't able to do for the entirety of the VA Tech game, three quarters of the Mizzou game, and during his time on the field today. Green is definitely a rookie with rookie kinks to work out. But he makes plays that establishes drives, even though he can be too impulsive (again, a rookie kink). The flipside of that is Lee, who is way too cautious and jittery when trying to maneuver in and out of the pocket. We're looking at a lesser-of-two-evils situation here. I'm leaning towards letting Green start for Iowa State. If he can light a fire under the O's butts and establish score-producing drives, then he earns a start for Baylor as well.

Some receivers who can actually CATCH THE DAMN BALL would be nice. There was at least one touchdown left on the field because someone thought the monsoon followed them up from Columbia.

This was also a very bad call on refs, not to call the IG on sheffield but they called it on Lee. Not saying that Lee's pass was not IG, but there was more of a reciever in the area of Lee's pass than with Sheffield's. I thought people in our section were going to storm the field and burn the refs at the stake. I've been to more games than I can count at Memorial Stadium--and usually sit around the same people. I haven't seen our section get that mad at the officials. Ever.

I was also at the game. Those boos were being directed at the refs; they leave the field through the same corner the visiting team goes into, so I can see where the confusion is. But people were very conscious to wait until the Texas Tech players were inside before the boos started. Once the teams were completely off the field, the rest of the stadium joined the SW corner. Or at least North Stadium did--we had some ticked-off people.

I can't root for Miami no matter who they're up against. I hope Oklahoma rips them to shreds; then maybe I'll be able to watch ESPN without having to worry about 'Cane-gasms...

If Cody Green can catch the ball..... I say run Black 41 Flash Reverse. + at the Oklahoma game. (Kinda 'duh'...)

There's that, along with the second half of the Gator Bowl. We were behind, and the morale wasn't all that great. I was at the game: the Husker half of the crowd was pretty quiet entering that halftime. Had that been Callahan's team, I would've bet money that we would lose the game. The players never seemed to be able to pull themselves together at half under him. He must've been one hell of an underwhelming pep talker: "Well, erm, we've been amazing in every area..." Thank God we had Bo for that one. He riled himself up, riled up the players, and were able to come back to win. Considering that, our guys will be out for blood next week. Cravin' some Cajun!

I was under the impression that that wasn't O'Hanlon's man. It was West's (#5), who blew him off thinking the play was over, and O'Hanlon went after that guy once he realized what happened. This is one of the most painful losses I've ever felt, though. Jeez, the defense was great and would've earned their Blackshirts hands down if it hadn't been for that bomb. But the offense, sans Helu, was pathetic. Couldn't even score a freakin' TD, and when they do, some lineman blows it because he forgot how to be a lineman! Hell, the entire offense seemed to forget how to be an offense when they allowed 35-YARDS WORTH OF PENALTIES on themselves! JEEEEEEZ! Every single one of those points were Henery's. And we were all wondering how Lee would do under pressure...well, you have your answer.

Well, being a girl, I have my types. And "douchey college kids" aren't it. But hey, every student section in the country is going to have its fair share of jerks who think they're being real edgy and impressive with their behavior. Witty much? Heh, well, if they're hoping to attract female attention with that, they sure as hell are...but I'm pretty sure it's not the kind of attention they want. I heard more than a few "God, what an obnoxious loser..." from the other ladies around me. Welcome back, HuskerJen...

I'm sure everyone expects that kind of bs. Well, being a girl, I have my types. And "douchey college kids" aren't it. My family and I were eating at the Lincoln Granite City after the game today. The place was bursting at the seams of red-clad fans watching this game, and I'm happy to report that the place exploded--or at least the bar area did---when Michigan made that final touchdown. More than a few even started chanting "Overrated..."

This one gave me goosebumps. The production value on it is excellent! It focused on all the right things, and left you feeling like "Damn, we're awesome..." I heard a lot of buzz about it leaving the game. Definitely one of the best---if not THE best---Tunnel Walk vid ever.
