  1. omaha.com article The 29th of October was NU vs Michigan St. Not sure what was on the 30th that necessitated closing off parking for donors and charging $15 in other spots. Volleyball perhaps??? Irregardless, the fact of the matter is that a major event was happening on campus to require parking attendants, reserved parking, and charging for spots. Anyone claiming a lawsuit over this is full of crap in my book. I fully support the idea of access for persons with disabilities, but to believe that you get some sort of special treatment on a game day is BS. There are other people - who are handicap - that are going to the game/event that day too. If you happen to decide to use that day for a school research project, then prepare to be inconvenienced with parking just like everyone else. Anyone out there with any experience on game day handicap parking? I always just drop off my grandfather at the main gate and go park.
  2. Skip to 1:40 and you'll see a very good description of the basics of the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWU9wxlIxig&feature=related
  3. From the makers of Civilization, a redo of the classic original Xcom. Hell yeah.
  4. Also, if you watch the play, right after the audible, both players immediately look to the sideline and Fish is yelling a them to stay put.
  5. Here's the ESPN link for rewatching the game. Enjoy. espn.go - Nebraska/S Miss
  6. I promise to have lost my voice for Sunday.
  7. No worries. I'm drinking heavily tonight, so that tomorrow I'm dehydrated - then when I start drinking tomorrow morning, I don't have to pee while in the stands during the game.
  8. Yikes. I buy the occasional ticket, but I have long since come to terms with my chances. I am pretty much purchasing the ticket and then my wife & I get the the half hour of amused wishful thinking of what we'd do afterwards - much more than any hopes/chances of ever actually winning. Sometimes it's just fun to imagine.
  9. I'll admit, I like a good cheesy promotion, soooo...... For those who live in Omaha, there's a building downtown on 15th and Douglas. On the very top level, there is a giant neon "REX." I was out for a jog earlier this morning and, after seeing this building, got to thinking about Mr. Burkhead. Then I had the wife snap a shot of the building. Was thinking it would be neat if the building's management lit the windows to say "FOR HEISMAN" each night. There are enough windows, as my bad photoshop below shows: Thoughts?
  10. Over. Double bonus: Number of times the announcers talk about about Southern speed, and the quarter in which the announcers suddenly stop talking about that supposed speed. 4 & 2nd
  11. I nominate this for official 2012 Jersey:
  12. 5 Mai Tai's How about passes caught by tight ends. 4
  13. Under. Percentage of Huskerboard that is unable to watch the Michigan/Bama game due to an alcohol induced stupor. 25%
  14. Under, Over, Yes. Times the sea of red is mentioned. 3
  15. Push Number of plays where fullback runs the ball - 4
  16. Lot #7 typically has several RV's in it. Pretty sure it's all reserved, but you could call down there. (Map) Link to parking.unl.edu North of the Devaney Sports Center (Top of map) there's a large field for tailgating too. Not sure if they allow RV's though. Edit: Directly North of the stadium there are two yellow lots (11 & 11). To the North of those, some of the private homes might let ya park an RV in their driveway or yard. Might cost $30-50 bucks, but worth a try. I've parked there in the past for around $10 in a SUV. On a side note, how is there not a sticky for parking, restaurants, bars, tailgates, traffic, etc? Every year it seems like the same questions get asked over and over...
  17. 16A, but hell if I can remember the row. 64 maybe? See ya there hskerfan4life.
  18. Does the helmet rule state that any helmet removed mid-play results in automatic play stoppage? What if the other team just gashed you up the middle and their rb is heading towards the end zone? Can a player take their helmet off & hand it to the ref before the rb gets into end zone? What about automatic substitutions? Need to swap out players, just have the one on the field take off his helmet. Playing against an up tempo offense? Oops, darn helmets keep falling off. And I guarantee that there will be teams this year that are known for pulling this crap on a regular basis. Completely insane.
  19. Southern Miss Logo: Mullet: As proudly displayed by their previous head coach, Larry Fedora: Edit: Oops, and head coach Ellis Johnson:
  20. Good for King. Here's hoping he gets enough game time to warrant me making a ridiculous custom game day t-shirt.
  21. This article, while with it's flaws, points out to what a lot of people on here are saying. That we may not be the best in every category, or might not have the name brands across the board, but top to bottom, Bo is building a darn fine program. These position ranking just testify that pundits believe in Bo too and what is being done to our team. And that if we can be good in all areas, maybe we can put it all together into something special this season or next.
  22. +1 Duffy's Fishbowls. Lazlo's has some pretty decent microbrews. If you bring your own beer, make sure to use Red Solo cups. If you stick by your car, you will be fine as long as you're not belligerent. Wheeling around coolers is fine, and I've seen many people walking around with unopened beer cases without any problems. You'll see the full range of tailgates from folding tables with dip and chips to BBQ grill trailers, flat screen tv's, and bar chairs. Quite a few people sneak flasks into the stadium. I've never been patted down. They do religiously check women's purses. No booze sales in the stadium. 20 oz sodas/water are $3. Pizza slices and Runzas are $4. The Runza is a local tradition. Basically a fancy hot pocket with beef, onion, & cabbage. Pretty tasty. Cheap parking can be had on the North side of the viaduct. There is a neighborhood there where many houses offer parking for $10 or so. Huskerhounds is an Omaha apparel business that offers the free ticket sale services for ticket holders getting rid of their tickets. They do not allow scalping, and will only do face value. They can sell out quick, but are a good starting point. Finding cheap tickets outside the stadium can be problematic. There was even a recent article saying that husker tickets on the secondary market were the most expensive e of any college football team. If you stay in Omaha, leave at least 2 hours before game time. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get down there and you will have to deal with the traffic jam that always happens at the Platte River bridge. My group typically leaves about 4-5 hours before game time, and that gives us 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours of tailgating and another 1/2 hour to head into the game. Make sure to head in at least 15 minutes early to see the tunnel walk and flyover. Very very cool and not to be missed.
