  1. Unless this offense un-F***'s itself and starts sh***ing TIFFANY CUFFLINKS, I'm not "liking Nebraska's odds" -- what's to like? Being embarrassed on National TV by Texas is not confirmation of being "BACK BABY"!!!
  2. TO will never "dump on" Wats -- it's not his style. Back to the original question -- I think the main reason Watson was retained because he had such a close relationship to the stable of quarterbacks that were under him. now that it doesn't seem to matter -- this is the time to start the overhaul of the O ...by getting rid of him thus removing the last link to the Callahan era.
  3. don't throw that in there... guess who recruited Cody Green? it wasn't Watson I don't think anyone wants to get into a recruiting battle here, there are guys on here that really know their stuff about the recruiting that goes on. And who has the final say on who gets a scholly? Not Watson Nuff said. Cody Green is a freshman QB who just started his first game. He is HARDLY the problem! - If there is a talent problem on the the team - then you should call plays that can be executed at the talent level you have. Watson obviously ISN'T doing that! As the OC -- Watson is responsible for having or HAVING NOT recruited and/or TAUGHT the players on the offense how to execute the "Husker" offense. It's not getting done. So Watson will need to answer why he hasn't: A) recruited well enough to execute his offense B) Taught the players HOW to execute his offense C) adjusted his play calling to get SOME kind of production out of the O. I predict he will be GONE at season's end. Hell, maybe Callahan would have been more successful if it weren't for Cosgrove. Bo won't let history repeat on the other end of the scale. I gotta have faith in Bo'. PROVE ME WRONG ON THE FIELD HUSKERS!!! I would LOVE it they pulled their heads out of their arses and the O started clicking! But based on the past 4 games (-1 quarter) it seems like a stretch....
  4. Yeah!! Remember that Disney movie from the 1970's about the donkey that could kick field goals?
  5. Who has been recruiting these players that can't execute? ? Well??? WATSON!!!!! Nuff said.
  6. GOD I HOPE YOU'RE WRONG...BUT WHEN THEY FLASHED THE SCHEDUL UP THERE.....I dont see our D being able to keep us in every game....someone better find something that this offense is good at...because scoring touchdowns is certainly not their strong point.... ...and here we all thought that Green was going to be our savior....hell..I was hoping that Lee would get back in the game.... Pathetic. The fix is going to have to be from the top down at this point. -- Starting with Watson -- I don't think we want to see this team in Big 12 championship game unless there is somekind of fundamental mid-season change in philosophy. We've had two games since the Texas Tech game to see something like that - instead of using these two games to break in something new -- we've gotten more of the same dink-and-dunk impotence.
  7. Jared Crick had a great game today. It's good to see others stepping up besides Suh.
  8. Based on what I've seen today.....I think it's going to be a "LOSE UGLY" next week.
  9. It's not "just because"..... Scott Frost has the stink of winning on him. * National Championship 1997 -- *6 years in the NFL - *promoted coordinator position at UNI -- * Oregon is winning with him as coach (ranked #10) - - I was merely throwing this out there in the face of all the calls for Turner Gill to take a demotion to become Nebraska's O.C. -- Scott Frost would be a very SANE alternative.
  10. (taken from Wikipedia) After playing six seasons in the NFL, in 2002 Frost accepted an offer by his alma mater to be a graduate assistant coach preparing the Cornhuskers defense for the Independence Bowl. He later returned to the NFL for a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2006, he accepted an offer by his alma mater's rival, Kansas State, to fill the same position. In 2007, he joined the University of Northern Iowa coaching staff as the linebackers coach, later being promoted to Co-Defensive Coordinator. On January 26, 2009, Frost was hired as the wide receivers coach for the University of Oregon.[1] IMO -- Frost would be a great addition to the Husker coaching staff.
  11. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! Even if your receivers arent 100 % home run threats you have to occasionally stretch the field to keep the safeties honest or you get what we have, 9 and 10 men in the box daring you to throw down field. Smoke and mirror offense is getting old. Dip dunk and never go for the home run. Very vanilla if you ask me. Not in any way am I promoting firing anyone but evaluate and adjust for each team instead of just trying to impose your will on the defense at all costs. Iowa State did just this......and they scored a feaking TOUCHDOWN!!! I can remember one play that Nebraska did this -- 3rd down on that last drive of the game. We needed a first down to keep the drive alive and the Huskers throw a rainbow..... very risky time to call that one. but this was desperation not keep the D honest. Wrong plays .... wrong time.....
  12. Every drive seems to be constructed like an elaborate house of cards -- somebody always bumps the table and it comes crashing down! There needs to be a major shift in the way this team is coached -- until then we need someone who can make yards on a broken play. a.k.a. Green.
  13. Not true, we do control our destiny. If we win out, we win the North. That does include a win against OU, but still is the reality. Iowa State now holds a tie-breaker against the Huskers. It's a safe bet they will lose again -- but technically the Huskers need that to happen. Is beating OU a safe bet for the Huskers?
  14. If they hold onto the ball, we can still win the Big XII North. Everybody left on the schedule is beatable, especially with good defensive play. Isn't that something to play for? Except NOW we could possibly beat K-state and yet they could win the North. The Huskers no longer control their destiny -Certain teams have to lose and the Huskers can't afford another loss- the stars have to align for it to work. (Hey, that's just what needs to happen for Watson's offense to work!) I'm not saying it can't happen - but hope for this season is fading fast.
  15. Faith is what I had (even after the TT game), but it takes BLIND FAITH to "eat your turds and like it" after what we were treated to yesterday. It's true that Zac Lee was not the only problem with the offense yesterday, but he still can't throw ball without stretching out the recievers leaving them exposed to getting DRILLED. The nice way to say it is that he throws ball that are "hard to catch" -- let's face it he has no touch! Add that to zero scrambling sensibilities and we have cascading problems on offense. What we saw yesterday has been bubbling under the surface all season -- we just witnessed the pot boiling over. Confusious sez: If it stink rike dloppings -- and rooks rike dloppings -- then it IS dung -- and You can't porrish a turd!!!
  16. If Bo makes some kind of top down fundamental change in coaching staff -- that leads to a DRASTIC change in philosophy in play calling and bigger emphasis on FUNDAMENTALS of ball handing -- and drop the "go down with the ship loyalty to Watson and / or LEE ---- then I'd say you are wrong!!! but I don't think it will happen so you are probobly right..... I still hope to see these changes, but now doubt I will... go big red. Hmmph.
  17. I think you owe all the "real-ists" an apology.
  18. I'm able to watch this -- but just BARELY!!!!! This is sloppy -- and it's not even RAINING!
  19. are you familiar with the notion of being "lulled into a false sense of security"? LEE starting and two succesfull games is setting the stage for that! Many fans (myself included) would like to see the Huskers be a threat to opposing teams in BIG games as well as the games that "should be" less challenging. Lee seems to only be able to pick the "low hanging fruit" -- Green has the potential to reach to top!
  20. So what can be drawn from this is that by the time a quarterback finally feels comfortable in this offense......HE GRADUATES!!!! This is not good. I hope Pelini and Oz put a FOOT up Watson's kiester and we see some plays that produce.
  21. nevermind! I was watching that 'tra la la' video from those A&M guys, confused me a little bit We do not need to score a lot to win the north or B12 con. All we need to do is score 15-20 pt per game. our defense will keep the opp. score low. The offense just has to help by eating up time and scoreing some. What is with all the negativity with some people? If the Huskers score 15-20 per game - then we MIGHT split the rest of the games (which might give us the North by default) only to get taken to the woodshed like a red-headed stepchild in the B12 title game. The offense needs to be putting up at least 24+ points a game to be comfortable - otherwise the rest of the games will be nailbighters that may or may not end up with a W. I'm hoping for some changes in play-calling and improved production - The Husker Defense is doing to good of a job and putting in too much blood sweat and tears to be let down by an anemic ineffective offense! GO BIG RED!!!!
  22. This is why IMO the Huskers should put Green in as QB now. Give him two games to gain experience before OU. Otherwise - I could see Lee moving well against the next two teams -only to get the rug pulled out against the Sooners. The only chance the Huskers have against moving the ball on the stout OU D - is to get Green up to speed.
  23. I for one would not come to a message board if everyone held hands and sang "kumbaya"!!!! If you want to be a blind-faith cheerleader, put on a mini-skirt and go to the "moustache-bistro" -
  24. That last sentence sums it up well. The Huskers need to get rid of the last remnant of the Callahan era. And that is Watson. Barney Cotton's offensive scheme from 2003 looked good back then and looks even better to me NOW!
  25. Can someone on this board enlighten me as to why someone would make a post such as the one above??? The original question is a common discussion in thousands of workplaces and homes across NE, yet someone has to try and ruin the discussion. Is there something bad that would happen if we don't focus on Tech? What if the fans look past Tech and are thinking about Oklahoma? Does that increase our chances of a loss because we weren't focused on Tech? I can see the headline on Sunday "NU Loss Due to Fans Looking Ahead at OU". Anyway, I like the idea of winning out and finishing in the top 10, it seems like that would be a huge leap forward in just two years. Our offense needs to start putting together some drives and get some rhythm back. I just want to be in a Bowl that is broadcast on regular 'free' TV. Because some people don't want to "count chickens before they hatch".
