  1. That game would also be in the running for poorest start in a game too.
  2. I agree there are a ton of commercials, but it just isn't a Nebraska football gameday if you do not have the radio on hours before kickoff starting with Lane and Matt while watching ESPN gameday at the same time. I will miss Adrian Fiala though. His voice alone was a big part of Nebraska football for years.
  3. With the move to the Big10, 1110 KFAB will still have those pregame shows 4 hours before each game and 4 hours after right??? I am one of those guys who listens to the radio pretty much the entire day on game day.
  4. The difference between Crouch and Locker? Hmmm... one of the two owns more Heisman's than both Washington and Iowa St combined. Other than that, the difference is Locker is better in the passing game while Crouch is light years ahead of him on the ground. Funny how people seem to have forgotten how good of a player Crouch was. The Eric Crouch tape: I don't think you realize how good Locker is. He is equal to, if not better, than what Crouch was at running, he is just in a different offense. He also doesn't have a supporting cast around him. If he played at Nebraska during the Crouch years, there would have been another 3 year dynasty. Unfortunately, Washington's cupboards were (are?) bare. Please tell me this is a joke? I have seen Locker play in many games on TV. I have not seen anything that even remotely resembles the speed that Crouch had with Nebraska.
  5. When I think about Nebraska playing Iowa, I cannot get that fantastic image out of my head where Eric Crouch completely destroys an Iowa safety on a run. Oh, here it is.
  6. he is a better diplomat than football player. While Suh is a very good diplomat, I'm not quite sure I'd make the leap you just did there. i said that knowing full well the type of football player he is, that is why his diplomatic skills are so impressive. it probably was an overstatement, but i have always noticed SUH's circumspect responses, never to offend and giving respect to everyone, even when people try making him respect one and insult they other. Even before his amazing 2009 season, Suh was great in interviews. He always sounded much more mature than just about any college student. I really think once Suh is done with football, he will find a home in the boradcast booth somewhere. Well, maybe not....seems like it would be beneath him.
  7. I love how NU is included in the toss up column and Iowa is listed as a probable loss, yet most preseason polls to date have NU ahead of Iowa. don't you know? if you beat a team the previous year, it is a guaranteed win? but if you lose to a team the previous year, it is at best a toss-up? that is why ISU will definitely beat us and I have them as a toss-up on my schedule. If that's the case KU and KSU should be toss ups or losses on their schedule since they lost both of those games last year. it doesn't count if the teams you lost to are in the same state. then you will win those games, only if you lose to both, then you will win both. if they had won to one and lost to the other, the would beat the one they lost to and lose to the one they beat. since they lost to both, they will beat both. Your logic makes perfect sense. Same logic as 2 negatives multiplied equals a positive.
  8. Remeber all of the hype on Suh before the 2009 season began? I didn't buy into the hype and I was pleasantly surprised. I am not buying into any of the hype for this season either....
  9. If Dr. Tom Osborne and Harvey Pearlman think it is the right thing to do, I am on board. They are looking out for the longterm benefits for NU and they are usually the smartest guys in the room. I hope one day I can watch NU road games at Michigan and at OSU and at PSU. Before this move, I had no desire to travel to any spot in the Big 12 to watch NU play. When you look at the header on Huskerboard with all the teams in the Big 10, we look like we fit right in. We can't expect everyone to be on board with every decision NU makes or the direction but this is a great move. Spot on. Spot on.
  10. I did not vote for Green based on his decision making last year. Some of the throws he made into double coverages etc. showed this. I hope he proves me wrong and does great this year, but I don't know what it is about Martinez. Just call it fan intuition, but I think he is going to have a more successful career than Green does.
  11. hmmm? they gave up over 500 yards to the ducks in the Rose Bowl. huskers would have rolled up over 1000 Didn't they play Washington St. that year in the Rose Bowl?
  12. I think you're right. I consider myself to be knowledgeable in college football and I found that I barely knew any of your traditions or history. The Big Ten has always received a lot of coverage, so your Huskers probably know more about us than we do about you. You guys are really missing the point. This is all in goodwill, just the joy of exchanging our pride and traditions in our football teams. This isn't a competition to see who has the better tradition or suggest what you should and shouldn't know or what you should be learning about each team. The way you come across - which is jerky, by the way - is like you guys are know-it-alls and can't be bothered to entertain our thread on Big Ten culture, but we should better study up if we want to be real fans. Manhattan, I think you are missing my point. At least in Omaha we get to see many Big10 games. My parents live in Dayton, and they are lucky to get the Huskers on TV there unless you go to a sports bar that is carrying the game. They will carry Indiana vs. Northwestern over any Nebraska game. ESPN is also notorious for showing much more Big10 culture than Big12 culture in my opinion. Doesn't ESPN break down the dotting of the I like every season on Gameday? Many in the Big10 probably do not even know what the black shirts are. All I am saying is that if we were joining the PAC10, then yeah I would have much more to learn about the teams. I think the Big10 allowing Nebraska to join is a huge honor. We are all excited for the opportunity to play all of the Big10 teams with regularity. Even though we have a pretty well known program, Nebraska has got to remain humble. We cannot be thinking of Big10 titles when we have not even won a single conference game. You're kidding right? The Big10 is all about defense. Of course we know what the black shirts are. Why do you think we're stoked you're part of the Big10 now? I also have family in Wisconsin (born there) and they know absolutely nothing about Nebraska football. I only heard predictions from relatives(in 94 and 95)based on how we looked in the one game they saw which was against Oklahoma and how Miami and Florida were going to beat us. A certain Minnesota coach did not help our black shirt tradition either.

  14. The last person that I want as a Husker fan is President Obama. Everything he gets behind just seems to fail. see olympics and every candidate he has backed recently....
  15. I would have to say OSU will win the majority of them with Penn State in second and Nebraska in third. I hope I am wrong and Nebraska takes more titles, but I don't think Nebraska is going to steam roll in an established league like the Big10 at least right away. It doesn't look like many have any faith in Michigan making a return to prominence?
  16. Thanks and welcome to the board. I don't want to be a jerk, but I think just about everyone on here are huge college football fans and we watch every game that we can from the major conferences so I don't think it is anything new to us. I think the big10 fans will have to learn far more about us than we will be learning from entering the big10. Again, not trying to be jerky. I just don't think Nebraska is as visible to the big10 as the big10 is to Nebraska fans.
  17. I am a Wisconsin native born in Milwaukee. I cannot wait for Nebraska and Wisconsin to play!
  18. I really hope that the Big10 just closes the door at 12.
  19. I think everyone thought Nebraska was just expected to win against TT and the team came out flat. TT has had Nebraska's number ever since Leach has been coaching there. If I recall correctly didn't TT go up 14-0 like really quickly? It just seemed like we were down from the get go in that one. TT was just the better team that day.
  20. Exactly. When will people wake up and realize that Bo is having this success because of Callahan's players....
  21. I completely disagree with Missouri being a big rivalry game. Yes, they have had recent success, but you usually do not beat rivals 24 times in a row.
  22. The big 10 already has 11 teams. If we move into that confrence it would become the little 12. I really hope we do not move to the confrence for the simple reason of tradition. our hole lives we have played confrence games in the great plains. i dont want to travel to ohio michigan and penn to watch away games. at least 5 teams are within driving distance and in all actuality the oklahoma schools arent a terrible drive. I have always hated the big ten. and do not want to be apart of a confrence i have always called weak. neb joining that confrence doesnt make it much better I would trade in our current big12 schedule for the big10 any day of the week. Can you imagine Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin etc coming to Lincoln on a regular basis? I am a Wisconsin native (moved to Omaha when I was 10) and I have been waiting for a Wisconsin and Nebraska matchup for years and would love to see a once a year game. The distance is not a factor since I'd rather travel by plane to the games anyways. I think Nebraska will get much better exposure in the big10 too. I would like to see Oklahoma and Texas as alternating non conference opponents if we move to the big10.
  23. I just watched the Holiday Bowl again the other day, and you're right - compared to Lee and Green, T-Mart is in another gear entirely, and he gets there faster than the other two get into their top gear. We'll see if he redshirts this year. That would be ideal, since we already have Lee and Green, but if he doesn't he'll be a revelation to our opponents who expect Lee's wheels. For a second redshirt year? I thought T-Mart redshirted already last season....
