  1. This is the kind of thing that went on all day long in 2002. You just have to walk along and take it. You truely believe that if you try to do anything 50 people would be beating you to death.
  2. Couple hundred . . . couple thousand . . . whatever. 90% of the students on the commons last night gave the rest a bad name. This stuff is indefensible. Protesting on behalf of Paterno (and I was a HUGE fan of Paterno prior to this) is a slap in the face to the victims. As an alum you should be ashamed and demand better. Yes a couple hundred. The overwhelming majority were just kids going outside to see what was going on. I don't defend the actions of those few at all and am embarrassed by their actions. I also blame the BOT for announcing this at 10:15pm after the whole town was waiting to hear them all night. At the end of the day, YOU NEBRASKA fans are the only ones who I ever hear that say that we are disrespectful in nature to guests. Ask everyone. I always welcome opposing fans to my tailgate and enjoy getting to know them. You are the only board in the last 5 years that I've silently trolled on that says we are disrespectful. Go ask the teams that we've played this year if they haven't been treated great. Every single one of them talks about how great it is. Perhaps your expectations of conflict leads to you being cold, defensive, and arrogant. I didn't address this issue. I've never been to a game there and I don't put much weight behind random and anonymous stories from 2002. The lady doth protest too much, methinks. Also, "thousands." http://www.reuters.c...E7A90WC20111110 I was there in 2002 and it was as bad as all the stories you have heard. We were there early and had people from 8 years old to 80 years old screaming Fxxx You at us everywhere we went all afternoon long. I saw people screaming at frail old women because they were wearing red. Someone spit on my wife. I know that sounds impossible but I swear that is true. I saw several people openly smoking pot. It was the most drucken lawless place that I have ever been. We left in the 3rd quarter because we were concerned for our safety. Clearly the worst I have seen anywhere. Worse than Colorado 2001 which is the only other place I have ever said I will not go back to. I am not talking about the acts of a handful of people. I am talking about thousands of people. It was truly disgusting. I guess the problem then was that the PSU fans felt cheated in some way for the split national championship in 94 and the husker fans had to be punished for that for some reason. Being a night game probably had something to do with it too. Thing may have changed since then and the PSU fans have become reasonable and respectful. I believe that is possible and I was hopeful that the reports after the game this time would be positive. I still believe that is possible but what I saw on TV makes me think not much has changed since I happily got the hell out of happy valley the least happy place on earth.
  3. That not so great OU team did beat us in the Big 12 Championship game just saying I never said we were great. They were good enough to beat a Husker Team with no offense. Good. Not so great.
  4. Stay thirsty my friends.

LOL! GSG5545. But time the furk up. I always wondered why he wanted us to stay thirsty? Isn't the object to quench your thirst?

    3. NUance

      NUance

      Interesting question. Very INTERESTING.

      Artie Johnson?

  5. Seriously, A&M in the top 10? Last year they lost to everyone with a pulse. That is excluding a not so great OU team. Also excluding a Husker team with pretty much no offense and the refs helping A&M any way they could short of actually tackling Husker players.
  6. I'm confident Bo didn't put a moments thought to how impressed the message board expects would be with any hire he has ever made. Give me a list of bad hires Bo has made and then I will consider if this is something I am going to worry about. He made a mistake allowing Watson and Gilmore to stay but he had some help making that decision. Other than that his track record for picking guys who can coach is pretty good. Not long ago people were upset with him hiring unknown Ekler who left to become Co-DC at a big 10 school. A guy named Snyder hired alot of coaches that no one was impressed with that turned out to be really really good coaches.
  7. Relax folks. None of us know who Bo may have contacted and never will. So feeling better you knew we tried to get the "top" LB coaches does you no good. You will never know. No reason to make assumptions either way. I don't know why people are concerned that out LB coach may not have enough star power. Perhaps rivals could rank them for us. The current defensive staff is not much on star power but the have done a really nice job. Bo will hire who he thinks is the best guy for the job. Having ties to Carl is a big plus because they know more about him than the LB coach from Whateverschoolmakesyouhappy U. Having ties to Nebraksa means the guy understands the unique situation that is Nebraska. That helps them be prepared for what they have to deal with when they get here. Neither of those ties are a requirement but they do help when evaluating candidates. I want the new LB coach to be good at coaching, recruiting, and working with the other coaches that are on this coaching staff. Where he comes from makes no difference to me.
  8. Game day in Lincoln is a day long event. The champions club is very cool. Tailgating for hours before and after the game. Talking to friends. Talking football. Watching other games on TV. A little drinking (or alot of drinking on occasion). I always go to the game but always back out to the club at halftime. Don't always go back to the game. Some games I could just sit out at the tailgate and watch the game. We always have several people wo don't go in. Saturday there were people trying to give away tickets when I went into the game. I would not have to go into the game to have a realy fun day as long as I can see the game on TV.
  9. Then you just haven't met the right drunk people yet. Kidding. Everyone enjoys life in their own way.
  10. I thought is was a little louder than I thought it would be. I was not excited at all to see this game. I'm glad I went but KU is really bad. People make too much out of a pretty insignificant comment that Bo made. Missouri game loud - KU game not loud. It's not tough to figure out why. Pass rush? 6 sacks saturday. That is not too bad. They shut gabbert down. We miss Suh but it's not the end of the world. It sounds like Eric Martin may be the answer to the pass rush problem.
  11. Delta/Northwest Airlines has flights from Lincoln to the Minneapolis hub via Regional Jet flights 2 or 3 times a day.
  12. Yes clearly. It's not that tough to figure out. If Hagg and done the hookem whores hand sign after his put return he would have gotten a flag too. The penalty is for "Taunting". That is taunting and nothing else.
  13. Texas helped us get into a better conference. Thank You Whornes!
  14. Are my eyes deceiving me, or did somebody from BAYLOR just elude that Nebraska isn't Big 12 material????? Yep that is Baylor who got in and stays in a BCS conference only because a few Texas politicians want it them to be. But they do have that gay bear claw hand signal to make them feel like they belong in the same conference with the other 3 other inbread texas schools. I guess that means they belong.
  15. That is just Jean-Jacques Taylor showing us what Texas Class is all about.
  16. “If they want to leave, they can leave,” Baylor linebacker Antonio Johnson said. “We welcome all challengers so it really doesn’t matter. If they don’t feel like they’re Big 12 material then they can leave.” Antonio is bravely running his mouth knowing he won't have to face Nebraska ever again.
  17. We know all about those pundits. The 95 Huskers were way to slow to keep up with the speedy Florida Gators in the 96 Fiesta Bowl according to all the pundits. The whole playing on grass thing had them convinced. The result was about the same as yours.
  18. Thurman Thomas was pretty good to. Don't think he had great stats against the Huskers. Still he was very good.
  19. You have to put your playmakers on the field. T. Mart. is a playmaker. If Lee is the QB that give the team the best chance to win he will start. Bo will not have the guy that gives the team the best chance to win siting on the bench. We all had to watch that in 2007. It won't happen again.
  20. State College, PA is about 250 miles farther then Austin, TX. That is about 1/2 hour in a jet. Nebraska had to make a decision. They made the best decision they could for a host of reasons. You don't have to like it.
  21. I read that on ESPN not too long ago. My only question is, would Dr. Pepper pull their sponsorship of the Big 12 title game after this season? And if so, would they sponsor the upcoming Big 10 title game for the 2011 season? If they do, I do think reality is going to hit the Big 12 in the nuts. There won't even be a Big XII title game after this season, unless the NCAA grants the Big XII a special dispensation for the game. Their rules say you have to have 12 teams to have a championship game. This is one of the several reasons why I am convinced the Big 12 will either expand or dissolve in a couple of years. I predict the Texas X will implode due to all the sucking up the 9 little sisters will have to do to try to hold it together.
  22. Texas Lawmakers can't make us take Houston. The 4 Texas schools don't want us too, either (they won't say it), and the 6 non Texas schools don't have to care and therefore... Won't... we did not want baylor either... But that was part of getting the thing done in the first place. We were going to take 4, politics dictated which 4 in that case. I am not saying the politicians can never influence, just that the dynamics for that don't exist here... I just have one question - do you really trust that what you're hearing out of Texas is the truth? Really? If you are asking do I believe everything out of Texas... No If you are asking if I think it is true that Texas/A&M/Bylor/Tech doesn't want Houston in, nor TCU, yes. It brings no new $$$, which they have proven is all they are focused on, and it hurts the recruiting of those already in (not really UT). I think Texas will predictably act, based on thinking of them as a business... Should it be that way, maybe not, but that is how I am convinced it mostly is. You are correct but what stops UT from deciding to keep an extra 12 million (or whatever it will be)in state by replacing KSU with TCU. Who needs 2 schools in the state of Kansas? They have the power to do it because they would have the votes. No one is going to vote against what UT wants. All UT has to do is say they will take OU, aTM and tech to the pac 10 or SEC. It probably won't happen but it sure could happen to KSU, ISU, MU or KU.
  23. If people working for rivals could really independently evaluate talent with high accuracy they would be working for universities not a bunch of rectruiting geeks. It's all about who has offered.
  24. wait what? You notice how there are some teams that just can't seem to win close games... ... and Nebraska is one of them. The CCG was a close game that Nebraska dropped the ball on way before the "extra second" nonsense - by letting Texas get so far down field with that senseless penalty that put them in FG range. EDIT: A team that wins close games is Iowa, by the way. Their margins of victory averaged 4 points last year (I think) and usually only win in the 4th quarter. Makes for a fun team to watch. Agreed. I think this is they year NU move from losing those close games to winning those close games. Only time will tell if I'm right or wrong.
  25. Nice summary. Now if we can just get you to spell Osborne correctly. Just to expand a bit. I hear alot of, what are they going to do without SUH, stuff about the defense. Suh was incredible but he is only one man. He didn't make every tackle. A 5 star guy will probably be the replacement for Suh. Sure he will be missed but the defense will be very very good. The offense should be alot better for reasons stated above. With an offense that was only a little bit better NU would have been 13-1 or 12-2 because you never know how the bowl game would have gone (different bowl different opponent). I get what you're saying, but Suh was one man who took 2-3 other men out of the play when he wasn't making a play. That is a very big deal. Yes a very big deal but the triple teaming him thing was not something that happened often. No one schemes to put 3 guys on anyone. Double teaming happens all the time but you can't double team everyone. That is on reason why Crick has such a good season. If you pick who to double team you pick the best player. It's not like everyone is going to forget how to play defense now that Suh is gone. They were very good and they will be very good again. Pelini will make sure of it. I can say they will be better but they will be very good.
