I think it needs to be emphasized that even though Bo said those things in the heat of the moment after an emotional game, that environment did not create those notions in his head. He clearly had resentments toward the fan base and media, and was contemplating leaving for another job, thus the 'We'll see how they do when I'm gone" comment. Being angry does not excuse the content of his rant.

I think what bothers me the most is his attitude that he's our savior and we're lucky to have him. "We'll see what they can do when I'm gone." Be a mediocre team like we are now? I'm sure there are tons of coaches who can maintain that, Bo.

You are correct. It's considered a minor infraction. No scholarships harmed. The article states the NCAA deemed them "major" infractions, but Nebraska's efforts to investigate, self-report, and self-impose a fine lessened the penalty.

In regard to 1620's comments on the OP, they also pointed out that reporters also called around to boosters to gauge their feelings after the A&M blowup last year. Nothing really came of that. I'm guessing this is something similar. Even if the questions asked of the boosters are loaded, they aren't required to give loaded answers. Let's not start burning down your local newspapers just yet.

I'm going to guess the AP writer you mention is Eric Olson. The strange thing is he seemed to have a pretty good relationship with Bo in the past and I had the impression he was considered one of the more unbiased guys. Pelini would often talk pretty freely to Olson at the exclusion of some of the other beat writers. I'm not sure what changed this season, given that Bo has been a bit less testy with the press overall.

It should be noted we were 18-1 odds coming into this season. The odds are worse by their measure for next year, it seems. Not that Vegas should really factor into a reasoned assesment.

I actually just gained a lot of respect for coach Raymond after reading that. It's amazing how honesty and acceptance of shortcomings can buy patience and understanding. If Bo practiced that, there would be less consternation about the future of the program. People would understand that he sees the problems and has clear intentions of fixing them. Instead, he snaps at reporters who ask about said problems or just gives recycled answers. And yes, Raymond is right about the talent gap - and it's not just in the secondary.

That was humuliating on several levels. Not just losing, but the way the players melted-down - Dennard's ejection, the late cheap-shot by Stafford. It looks bad for the entire program.

Really? How much quality depth do we have at CB versus their depth at WR?

I've been enjoying the official Capital One Bowl Twitter feed for the last few weeks. Funny stuff, but they've turned into a South Carolina/SEC cheerleader today. I probably shouldn't be surprised since I suspect the person hired to run the account may be from EDSBS or one of the other humourous CFB blogs. They're mostly SEC people. Sort of reminds me of the Big-8 days when we would go down to Florida and everyone there, including the Orange Bowl people, were cheering for whatever Florida team we were playing.

I don't think the new Adidas jerseys are all that great, either. I know the players commented that they like how lightweight and stretchy it is, but I think the material is fragile. I've noticed way more guys with rips and holes around the shoulder pads as the games progress. And the screen-printed sleeve stripes and player names on the back look shabby once the jersey is stretched over the pads. I think Adidas needs to rethink the Techfit line. I don't think Nebraska should do anything dramatic or flashy with their uniforms, but I would like to see some refinement. I'm no fashion expert, but this year's getup just doesn't look that good to me.

I thought that was pretty hilarious. It was obvious the writers randomly picked a location in the midwest that would be good for a witness protection hideout. The "Kearney, NE" they actually showed in the episode bore no resemblance whatsoever to the real place. At least they pronounced it right in the dialogue. Lots of Nebraska references over the years on South Park. The guys behind that show are from Colorado, so no big surprise. One of the characters in their movie "Team America: World Police" was a former Nebraska QB. There was also a King of the Hill episode where Hank takes Bobby to a Texas football game - and they were playing Nebraska.

My source buried deep in the bowels of the program says it's NO JOKE. As the video production guy, Nobler is in a position to have visual dirt on the entire coaching staff. I've been told Nobler is blackmailing Bo with footage of him that includes "weeping", "Youtube", and "cute cat videos."

With flat denials from both Pelini and TO, I think it's safe to say this Rapp guy was "spicing-up" his account of Urban's hire with the Bo side-note. You would see non-denial denials if Bo and Osborne were simply trying to downplay it, similar to the Miami stories last year. Unless Bo is totally lying to the press and Osborne, which I highly doubt, you wouldn't see such a strong dismissal of the story. As pointed-out earlier, Rapp bailing on the USC show is also telling. Sounds like he didn't expect to get this much scrutiny of his story when he wrote it last week.

Bo also secured another raise shortly after this event occurred. I do believe the two are connected, and that would suggest it was more than "picking Bo's brain." I assure you OSU, Michigan, and Bama fans consider a three-loss season with no chance at a conference title disappointing. Michigan fired Lloyd Carr in a very similar scenario to Solich's dismissal. They're happy this year because of the disaster of Rodriguez stint. Bama fans are nuts. I don't know how you would conclude things are less intense there. If Saban had 9-3 or 10-4 season several years in a row and failed to win the SEC, they would be all over his butt.

Not all accurate. Pelini has to ask TO for permission to interview for other head coaching jobs. Bo didn't talk to Oz about the Miami job discussions last year. TO was caught completely by surprise and stated that he had no knowledge of it. Later, they were characterized as informal talks between Bo and an old associate (who happened to be the Miami AD.) But multiple news outlets insisted they were told by Miami admins off-the-record that Bo interviewed for the job down there.
