  1. The blown coverage looked like Prince was trying to pass on the receiver to Gomes so that he could spy Locker, but Gomes didn't hear him I guess so continued with pursuing Locker. Just a misunderstanding and then Thenarse not getting over to cover for their mistake (not that I'd expect him too). But god the refs were sketchy today. I know on the next drive or something when Prince had the defensive holding call was iffy (Thenarse's interception), but then they gave Wash 10 yards. Defensive holdings are 5 yards and automatic first downs. Then of course that first down we challenged where they looked like they didn't even pull the chains tight.
  2. -Helu and Burkhead are 1 and 1a. -Still some things to work on, but the team looks to be able to play and have as just a good chance to beat anyone (including Alabama). -Offense is very explosive (might be the most explosive in the nation) -Run D needs improvement, but outside of KState and OkSt it's hard to think of anyone that will line up and run it down our throats. -Hard to think of anyone being able to pass effectively on our D, bunch of physical ball hawks that understand how to cover their opponent (already known just reasserted today).
  3. 5 minutes left in the game, they're on the bench resting for the second team guys. At least that's what Smith's doing, sure Cassidy is running Hagg's spot.
  4. Had absolutely no problems with putting Green in for that drive, it was more a good play by the d along with Green's inability to go down. He goes to the house with that run and no one's complaining. Now I'm not going to excuse all of Green's fault for the play, he should've held onto the ball longer, but everyone's acting like he just lost us the game. Outside of those couple of drives after our first two, we've been controlling them on both sides of the ball. And as the half wore on we stopped shooting ourselves in the foot on offense. Our last td drive was a beauty.
  5. May was pretty adamant that Washington was going to win the game tomorrow. His main arguments were that Locker threw for 280 yards/4tds last week against Syracuse (and being a physical freak), Martinez being a freshman, and our ball control issues. I'll give him that, but it seemed like he had a great disdain for everything Nebraska and even the thought of them winning was laughable. Got some love from Holtz, but his lisping was drowned out by May's bitching.
  6. I know Pat Forde's looking for information on Joel, you know where he looks for a former player to put in at the end of his Forde Yard Dash column. Definitely something that he should know.
  7. I think they show the brushes with the law because that's all they could find on the members of the team. It's not good, but they've probably been leading boring lives outside of that.
  8. I really think/have this feeling that after Watson leaves for a different coaching job (he's looking for a Head Coaching job, just not actively) that the first person we go after will either be someone in house or we're going to try for Scott Frost (or just bring Frost in to replace the promoted OC). I really think that as long as we have Martinez or similar QBs running our offense (Carnes and Turner, Green and Starling are too tall with different running styles) we'll see an offense that's a mix between downhill running and Oregon's zone read/spread option.
  9. I'm going to chalk up some of the mistakes, again, to the team being uninterested after half. We only had 1 turnover at half and that was on a QB hit from the blindside. If it's a close game next week and the offense is still making these types of mistakes (mistakes you can't blame on a freshman QB), then I'd be worried about the rest of the season. Right now I'm wary, but confident.
  10. ACC=overrated, Va Tech lost, again, to James Madison today too. Wake Forest and Duke showed 0 defense in putting up something like 110 points combined. Kansas is alright, but I see them being a 4-6 win team.
  11. The last Idaho drive was against the second team defense (don't know how many of Idaho's 1st team offense was in), so you can take that drive with a grain of salt. I'm most worried about the penalties and turnovers, and again the team just seemed to shut things off at half and coasted to the victory (especially since we were up 31-3). I'm going to believe that once we start facing some real competition, instead of our preseason games, that the team will play good all 4 quarters that evolve to playing great the more games we play.
  12. Anyone know where I can listen to the game on my computer?
  13. Kinnie's not gone after this year unless he wants to leave, still a junior. That and I expect that there's not going to be as big a drop off from when Swift and Peterson left. Enunwa played some good minutes and we have a number of other young guys who could contribute this year and get some experience. And I believe our cupboard is more stocked than it was last year compared to next year.
  14. If we'd do anything like what Boise and VaTech did with their game tonight all I could see us doing is going with the throwbacks like we did last year for our 300th sellout. Really outside of that I could only see us going all red or all white.
  15. Think it's more that Illinois, as a team, have been playing really well. Wouldn't say they're playing lights out, but they are definitely playing a great game and have pretty much owned Mizzou.
  16. Skullz it's never too early to start a pre-game party (just don't start the victory celebration until the end).

  17. NU/PSU just seems like an end of the year game more than any other prospective opponent (Iowa and Wisconsin). Think the Big 10 would provide a really great double feature of football games if it put OSU/Mich in the morning or afternoon slot then followed that up with NU/PSU. Over 3200 wins combined in only 2 games, almost too good to be true.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5497517 Read it and I'll ask one question for when you're done, if the UFL scout that's mentioned at the end of the article is from Omaha, how would you feel about that?
  19. That might have been one of those situations where West probably should've kept going with the receiver instead of staying in his zone. Always keep the O in front of you and there was no other receiver entering his area and they had 80+ yards to go. Oh well it's a heartbreaking game but the team rebounded from it.
  20. I think one of the biggest reasons Solich was fired is that when he lost that year, it wasn't even close. Something like 38-10 against KSU, and 2 other 20+ point losses is what did him in.
  21. Green with a 68 yd td run that was more his line and the blockers over his physical ability, but it was still a good run.
  22. I think Madison is just flat out the better team in this game. Green's last TD run was definitely a college run. Showed vision and speed with no wasted movements and just got into the end-zone. We really need to get him signed. And oh yeah, get someone looking at Wiggins.
  23. Steele hasn't looked very good, not really Brown. Brown's barely touched the ball, but when he has he's been hounded immediately. Overall Madison has looked very good and Green had a nice run on his td. Hasn't really done much else.
  24. Whoever had Dennard having 9 ints I'm going to have to disagree with you. I agree that no one will want to throw it to Prince, but Dennard will have 20+ pass breakups and only 3 or 4 ints. Dude couldn't catch worth crap last year. Now I'm not trying to knock on him as a CB, it's just that there were a couple times when he had an assured INT by his good positioning and such, only to either drop the ball or tip it up to where the Receiver caught it (did that against KU). I love Dennard, but he needed to work on his catching last year.
