  1. First 4 minutes of the video and I didn't see him do anything other then make solid hits on the ball carrier. Definitely think of him having similar skills to Asante. Definitely be a good get if we could get him. Right now I think our biggest rivals would be Florida State, but that's only because he's from Florida. Though I could see Ole Miss and Ohio State being up there. Have a hard time seeing Stanford as being anything other than a place-holder, though I guess he'd like to go to a school of Stanford's academic standing because of all the time he's spent working on his grades. Good character guy that would definitely fit in well at Nebraska.
  2. I think I might want him as my number 1 get for receiver next year. Looked very impressive throughout the video. Great speed, great hands, kind of looked a little like Ted Ginn. Plays anything like him then I don't think anyone would complain about Nebraska lacking any speed at receiver (what with him and Bell). He pretty much out ran people on numerous plays, and there were also a number of plays where he was 1 step from breaking open only to get tripped. I want him.
  3. For everyone's information, the Jamal Turner video has 80 some plays, those plays loop 3 or 4 times with different angles, before the next play comes up. It needs to load up between every angle so don't get discouraged if it stops after only one showing.
  4. Good list, hopefully we get a majority of them.
  5. I think that Turner coming out and saying that he's going to come to Nebraska effected Carnes' decision on doing the same thing. From what we know of Turner is that he's a stud, 4,000 total yards on a team that went 3-7 is absolutely nothing to scoff at. Brion saw the writing on the wall and decided that with all of our depth at QB (only 2 seniors out of a group of 6 or 7) that he just might not get a chance to play. Good luck to him at WKU, but I'm hoping if he does start at the beginning of next year he throws at least 3 interceptions.
  6. Eric I don't think it's Nebraska's Wayne State, there's a few other Waynes around the country
  7. At this point in his career, how does he compare to Lucky?
  8. I think the biggest thing about him is that he's talked to other college coaches and just wasn't interested in anything they had to say. He was polite and everything it's just he didn't think any of the programs he'd talked to could offer him what Nebraska could. I'm going to say he's locked up for next year and you won't see him doing any waffling like other NU QB recruits in the past.
  9. I really think that what we saw during the Holiday Bowl is the exact offense that Watson wants to run, just maybe with more power formations. We see what that offense can do when it works (most of '08, the Sun Belt and bowl game in '09), and I really think the biggest reason that the offense didn't work last year is because of O-Line depth and skill. There were some shaky things with the WRs and QBs, but I think things could've gone way better, at least in the running game, if the O'Line had been healthy and had more than a 7 man rotation. I really don't see too many problems in the coming years about having our offense at least be competent and not perform like this years version.
  10. The Ben Leber pass interference and the Asher Allen defensive holding calls will always go down in my books and in my head similar to the blocking foul called on Creighton during the 2006 NIT game against Miami with like 4 seconds left. YOU JUST DON'T CALL THOSE TYPES OF CALLS IN THOSE TYPES OF SITUATIONS. The Allen penalty gave the Saints a first down instead of a 3 and out, and the Leber penalty put them in field goal range. The refs gave the Saints something like 20 yards on a drive that started on the 40, they gave the Saints probably half the yards on the drive on controversial penalties. It seems like the refs just up and decided that they would give the Saints the win after they won the coin toss. I don't think a single call went the Vikings way in OT besides the Brees fumble run where it was obvious that he didn't get the first.
  11. I don't know, don't have a reason to root for either team and can't hold it against the Saints that they benefited from two calls that extended their OT drive tonight. I'll go with the Saints because of the city, but I'm just way too disappointed that my only other football team had refs decide the outcome.
  12. Gotta be f'ing kidding me on the two defensive penalties in OT. Gotta be f'ing kidding me. The holding was ticky tack and on the Pass Interference that ball was at least 5 yards over his head. f'ing refs. Wanted Orleans to win it because of the city and if they didn't call a couple of plays in their favor they aren't getting out alive. f'ing refs. Don't call judgement fouls in OT unless they were blatantly obvious, like the guys shirt is ripped off or the defensive guy tackles the offensive guy while the ball is in the air. f'ing refs. Minnesota gave the Saints the game with all the turnovers, but the refs put the ball through the uprights. f'ing refs x 9000 God damnit I'm pissed
  13. Let's see how he is coming into next year. We definitely should at least get him here as a preferred walk-on.
  14. Four Words: Hand-Held 4.29 forty http://www.omaha.com/article/20100123/BIGRED03/100129818/-1/bigred He's borderline 4 right? and the only reason he doesn't have fourth star is because of his injury to start the year right? Because that's the only reason I can think of. Kid looks just as athletic as the four star kids and probably does just as well as they do. Good kid coming here and I'm happy.
  15. Too much of a Texas homer and focuses too much on the South for my tastes. But he is the only Big 12/Nebraska blog that I know of and it's easy to access. I really don't have a problem with his writing as long as it's just about Nebraska and doesn't include a South team/Texas. When it starts to involve that his bias starts to show too much. Here's to hoping that ESPN starts looking to bring in writers for all the individual divisions (Big XII North and South; SEC East and West) for the coming years when the Pac-10 and Big-10 start looking to bring their numbers up to get a championship game.
  16. I thought he looked a little awkward with the ball in his hands. He can make the cuts, it just seemed like he slowed down too much to make them. Definitely looked like a straight line speed guy. But that might just be the video, that definitely sucked. Too much quick little flashbacks after he made plays. Just an overall bad highlight reel. The reel also focused too much on offense when the guy is going to college as a Safety, didn't see too much on the defensive side of the ball, but he did look good when they did show defense.
  17. How do you get on an Academic All-American team? I know getting the best grades is a requirement, but what needs to be done to get on the team? Do they take the top students, no matter how they perform on the field? Or do they take the best students that also perform well on the field?
  18. I think we probably should've used him instead of Green this year, just the extra year for Green could've been gold for the program and himself. He really did look like a freshman playing even with the scaled back playbook. Better to have him sit out last year and hit the ground running this spring than to have his confidence take a beating. But things didn't happen like that and I hope we don't sit here in a few years lamenting about what might have been.
  19. Looks to have some nice size, though without some other measurable or some game tape it's hard to come to a decision with him.
  20. It's because he got hurt with a nagging injury this year (at least I think) and didn't put up the same numbers as his Sophomore year.
  21. He had Chip Kelley for UO's in home a couple days ago right? Then he had UCLA tonight. I'm guessing he sat through them and didn't hear anything that blew him away and screamed that that school would be where he should go to for the next 4/5 years. We've all heard that Oregon was pretty much only in the running because of the proximity to his mom, and then UCLA was mostly because of a Nigerian community that appealed to his mom. He's seen that Nebraska is the best where it comes to the overall football culture, and it has the best coaches that he can use to develop his talent for the possibility of a big payday to help his family in the future. He's been on a Nebraska lean since before the Holiday Bowl but didn't feel comfortable going so far away from his mom and brothers. Then after the bowl game he saw just how much of a bad idea it was to throw out Nebraska just because of the distance so he brought them back in.
  22. Not really knowing too much about analyzing videos, but I saw a few plays where he relied only on his speed to run around the defensive player. Not going to fly in college. But I was very impressed by his vision and cutting abilities. I think we will see him playing somewhere as soon as he gets adapted to the speed of the game next year. Maybe use him as a returner, just something to get the ball in his hands. Bell's another kid that could provide a spark in the return game (if they decide to not use Paul next year, kind of stupid not to though), but I see Bell redshirting to get his weight in the 190 range before he really starts playing.
  23. It might be because Notre Dame is a really good school that could set him up in life better than a Nebraska education? Don't get me wrong in saying that, there's nothing wrong with an education from Nebraska, it's just Notre Dame is a better school academically. Add to that they have one of the biggest football programs (unwarranted or not), and also it's way closer to his home than Lincoln and I see why he's having trouble picking a school between us and them. Sometimes you have to look past your time playing football. But I don't know what's going on in his mind, but with his dropping FSU I like our chances more than it's been in a while.
