  1. If Miles had any clue as to how to work a rotation, stuff like this wouldn't happen.
  2. To be fair, it wasn't exactly Ganz's strength either. I'd almost go back to Zac Taylor.
  3. OH NO! Fire Diaco? JK!! I really hope to see some passes were I dont hold my breathe everytime we throw the ball. Diaco sucks, who can we steal? Well, that didn't take long. Come on Wade, you're better than that. I heard he's already been demoted to punter coach ............. #FourFifty
  4. The examples in your first paragraph are all at better programs than Nebraska, currently. Hard to recruit your state when you're the third game in town. As far as Strom, Nebraska was recruiting him....in football. I have no idea why Chang isn't getting more local looks. Had he been 100%, the state title game would have been vastly different. Are you saying Omaha has a better basketball team than Nebraska? If so, consider the leagues and sos of both teams for the 2016-2017 season. For some reason Miles does not recruit the state well unless he is giving out walk ons to the kids. That does need to change and if he can land Chang that would be big. Miles is in a make or break year so I wonder if he is willing to take more risks, which in turn could help us win or lose.I'm saying that local kids would rather play for an up and coming program with the name of their city on their chest, one that was 2 points away from making the NCAA tournament, rather than playing for the 13th best team in a 14 team league. It's not a secret that both Creighton and Omaha recruit metro kids far better than Nebraska does. Creighton got Patton a few years ago UNO got Ayo Akinwole this year I dont get why Nebraska didnt even offer that West Virginia commit from Boys Town (I dont remember his name) I havent seen a Nebraska offer to him on any site Teddy Allen? He's originally from Arizona, so the pull to go to a local school just wasn't there. He's got a ton of talent, but there are some maturity issues there that someone like Huggins can handle much more effectively than Miles or McDermott. UNO is getting Akinwole, but half of their roster is metro kids. I'd argue that Creighton's two best players are both from Omaha. I agree that Teddy Allen shouldn't be considered a "local kid". He's at Boys Town from Arizona, so he probably had limited interest in staying in Nebraska. UNO is getting Metro kids who are marginal D-1 players. I am not saying they aren't any good, but the Summit League is at the bottom of D-1 basketball. The NCAA qualifiers from that conference are usually #15-16 seeds in the Big Dance. That level of competition is way different than the Big Ten. I do think that Omaha is getting better with the club/AAU teams and youth programs. I would take Tre'Deon Hollins or Treshaun Thurmon on Nebraska in a heartbeat. I admit I don't know those two well enough, and there is a good chance they could be contributors at NU. Thurmon is a better pure post player than Morrow, and Hollins led the country in steals this year.

  13. Football? Good question. Basketball? Wisconsin has always been decent, but they've been a consistent mainstay in the NCAA tournament for almost 25 years now.

He's talking about the team bein broken up into smaller units made to foster accountability and promote competition within the team. Motivation is motivation, and God forbid football be fun for once.

Kind of tired of former players publicly sh*tting on the current team/players. For being all about wanting the program to be back at championship level, some of their critique would be best kept for the locker room

  15. May turn from a 3 game series to a 1 game series if the weather doesn't cooperate.

  17. Beck was also the running backs coach before being promoted to QB, and they didn't run an air-raid at KU. He's also the guy who recruited Armstrong, so... that doesn't really make sense. Sorry, I won't agree with that. Armstrong has constantly been asked to make plays and be more of a passing QB than using his legs. I'm not necessarily saying Beck was calling too many passing plays..etc. I'm saying Armstrong was never going to be the type of QB Beck needed....even though he recruited him. There was always a struggle between what the OC wanted and what Armstrong was able to do. You don't have to agree. Just look at the QB's he recruited. Tommy Armstrong, Jamal Turner, Bubba Starling, Johnny Stanton, AJ Bush, etc... That's what he recruited. None of those guys were what I'd call good passers. That's on Beck. A real "Who's not" list of QB's. Yeesh. The particularly bad thing is this: 4 star, 4 star, 4 star, 4 star, 3 star. Lends yourself to believe that Beck really didn't know how to identify pure QB talent.
  18. You've had 6 years of empirical evidence that, outside of 1 month, he can't. And what tiny school in the middle of nowhere has he taken to the NCAA tournament? I have 6 previous to those years that say otherwise. Your point is moot. Colorado State is who he took the NCAA tournament. He went winless at CSU in conference play in year 4. The next year he took them to NCAA tournament. Before CSU he took teams to the NAIA DII tournament appearances on multiple occasions. He was successful everywhere he went GIVEN TIME (read: 4-5 years) I feel good about him being given another year with the roster he has. I think he'll do pretty well next year and we'll be in good shape. Colorado State may not be in a Power 5 conference, but they're a bigger school than Nebraska by about 8,000 students and, comparative to Lincoln, Fort Collins is hardly "the middle of nowhere". While at Colorado State, he had a .477 winning percentage (.359 in conference), and that one trip to the NCAA tournament. At Nebraska, he's got a .466 winning percentage(.367 in conference), the worst for a HC at Nebraska in 50+ years, plus one trip to the NCAA tournament. He has 4 losing seasons, and has finished higher than 10th in the Big Ten only once. That finish was largely on the back of one month when the team got incredibly hot. So, as I said, you have one month of empirical evidence, I have 5 years. He's going into year 6, and he hasn't been successful here. To think that he's going to find a magic formula over the off-season is akin to believing in snake oil salesmen or divining rods. To the last paragraph He could find a way to defend the 3 point better and run some semblance of an offense and then we could make the tourney/have success. That's possibly the most frustrating thing about Nebrasketball for me. If they can defend the 3 better, it could go a LONG ways to improving every other aspect of the game.

  22. Out of curiosity, who would you want to hire? Heart isn't set on anyone in particular, and some of these are outright unattainable. But if it were up to me I'd probably consider Baker Dunleavy from Villanova. Mike Brey from Notre Dame. Jeff Capel from Duke. None of those would have been obtainable, though. I was all in on the Mark Gottfried train. They might be able to get Capel. Duke played awful basketball while he took over for Coach K this year While not the best audition, Capel is angling for the job when K retires, and I'm betting Brey throws his hat in that ring, too. Don't forget Wojo or Collins as well The way he's going though, K might coach till he's 100 There's going to be quite the list of former Dukies for that job when K decides to retire; throw in Johnny Dawkins and Tommy Amaker, too. The job will most likely go to someone with Duke ties after Coach K retires. Dawkins and Amaker haven't been very successful as major college head coaches, although Amaker has been good at Harvard. Jeff Capel was good at OU for a couple years, but his career ended there in controversy. I do agree that he is being groomed to take over for Coach K, whenever K retires. It will be interesting how long Collins stays at Northwestern. He is doing a great job there, and could probably land a bigger job. But, he is from the Chicago area, so he might be loyal to Northwestern for a while. Collins and Brey would be the frontrunners, IMO. The one wildcard would be Brad Stevens; he's been more successful in the NBA than I thought he would, but Duke would be one of maybe 3 jobs that could bring him back to college.
