  1. Get my Red on, Make sure the rest of the family has theirs. Then, I read about opposing team. Then as the game nears We prepare the feast.
  2. I've very excited, as I live right on the border. Iowa normally has great defenses and crappy offences so it will be a chess game of defenses. I love it! Someday this could prove to be a great rivalry. Both fan bases are extremely proud and aren't afraid to travel. I look forward to ruining many of their holidays and fueling their hatred.
  3. I told my own girls that if they got married on a Game day their daddy wouldn't be in attendance.
  4. I voted yes strictly because of strength of schedule and the "Unknown" offense. As one of the previous posts said if things start to roll, who knows. Our defense can compete with anyone in the country so all we need is some luck and some spark.
  5. LINK I like to hear this. While it makes me a little nervous to think that we may start 2011 with yet another first-year starter, the bottom line is we HAVE TO put the best guy out there. Nobody is handing Martinez the job at this point, and that's great. He'll have to earn it again, and (apparently) leadership in the huddle/locker room is going to factor into that. I understand that Martinez may be naturally shy, and there's no harm in that. But if the job description of the starting QB at Nebraska includes having the respect of your teammates and being a leader on the field and in the locker room, then that's what you're going to have to be. Talent only gets you so far. We saw what happened last year when talent got thrown out the window due to injuries. The huddle collapsed, and confidence and productivity went along with it. You just cannot have that. Maybe it is just me but he sounded pro Cody Green. The "rumors" I hear about the relationships of the QBs with the team lead me to this thought. I've heard the guys like CG more.
  6. and here we all sit chatting on the Huskerboard everyday while gobbling any info. we can get our hands on. Hey pot .......I'm kettle lmao! I would like to know more but, I understand why we don't get some of it. The only thing I don't like is how Bo reacts at times to the press (even if they are jack arses) They are just asking questions that fans tell them to ask. Take the High road Bo!!!!!
  7. It very much sounds like Bo wants the offence ran like the defense is ran. His D guys don't learn plays they learn football so if a play breaks down then they are still making good judgments. I was most excited to read that tid-bit. .........is it fall yet? After watching that old pump up video and reading what Bo said, the Kool-aid is flowing in my house again.
  8. Husker fans have been driving me nuts for the past 3 weeks nothing but a bunch of complainers makes me embarrassed to be a Husker fan. Kevin Wilson ruins Bo's plain on waiting to announce the resignation of Marvin Sanders and everybody wants to job on Bo for not spilling the beans and giving us more info. Then Yahoo Sports writes an article about giving coaches credit for not announcing a new coach until they've signed and that every coach should do that and now everybody is like "This guy is right I'm glad Bo does it this way." And now we have people complaining about these new coaching hires when we haven't seen anything from these new coaches in a game environment at Nebraska with new coaches surrounding them. Ignorant people already making threads like "How long will this new regime last?" WTF people!!! You can't judge a product until you've actually witness how it produces. We haven't even seen results and we have people already doubting these new coaches. When will Husker fans start supporting Bo and stop all of the hate, complaining, bitching etc? Bo so far as put a good product on the field (9+ wins in 3 seasons, back to back 10 win seasons) and brought Nebraska back into the National spotlight. Sure there were several games we should've won but Bo's making those changes on offense like we've wanted since after the 09' season but yet people are still complaining. Bo has been in this Buisness since 96', I think he knows what the hell he's doing. He's been productive at every stint he's been at, the 9ners, Patriots, Green Bay, Nebraska (03), OU, LSU and now back here. He knows how to develope and coach players, he's been around the block and knows a lot of good coaches, he's got ton of connections. I'll wait till the 2011 season to make my prediction of this new coaching staff but then again we are entering 2011 with a very tough and difficult schedule. I just might wait till after the 2012 season to make my final thoughts of these new coaches. Well said sir. We are to the stage of our marriage with Bo Pelini where we realize our partner isn't perfect in everyway. Bo has done everything we wanted him to when BC was leaving the building. I don't fault Bo for offensive failings for the past 3 years b/c he is making a change. No they aren't 5 star coaches but since when in the hell does that matter to Nebraska. We have always prided ourselves on our Walk-on program and how we take the right fit 3 star player and coach him to play like a 5 star. But, it is somehow a huge deal that Bo is doing that with his staff? I commend Bo for taking No name guys in and I'll bet within 5 years other teams are trying to steal them away. Pull up your skirt and support your team.
  9. The trick is if you B*tch about everything then you never have to say you were wrong if you like something that goes wrong. It is our society now to expect everything and take responsibility for nothing. I blame the hippies lol.
  10. I am absolutely in love with this idea. If we can learn to control the line we will win games. Look at the O-lines we used to produce......we need that back. Many big 10 games are fought in the trenches, we will need all the help we can get.
  11. Wow, if he can bring a little of that here.
  12. Until the others show me on the field they are paper tigers. T-mart #1 Green #2 then Carnes and Turner lumped as unknown.
  13. I think it is all going to come down to him being able to produce a solid offense. If he can lessen the fumbles, sacks, and penalties and just score 2 TDs per game our Defense will do the rest. Then boom we are in BCS bowls. If he can produce more than just solid then we all will be tattooing his name on us and singing praise. Look what we did with Lee at helm running a no-brainer power game. I'm sure Bo just trusts him not to let his O get in the way of the D and that's all we need.
  14. That's pretty bad Arse no matter how many takes. Good thing he is getting free tuition to entertain us.
  15. Dear god no, keep Watson away from my Titans, we have enough problems to worry about, we don't need Watson to destroy an already solid offense set in place! Which Titans team are you talking about? The one that was 27th in Total Offense, 17th in scoring offense, doesn’t have a starting QB, or a legit #1 or #2 WR? Is that the team that already has its offense in place? That's the point. They have POTENTIAL. Just like the Husker offense. POTENTIAL. Due to INEPT COACHING, they sputter, seems to be a familiar trend on this message board when the offense doesn't succeed. To say Kenny Britt isn't a "legit #1 or #2" receiver is simply, laughable. We don't throw the ball as much as we should/as much as some teams do, which would make the STATS look less than they are, but to say he isn't a #1 is dumb. If he and Moss were on the field at the same time, like they should have been, playing to their potential, it would open up a lot more and we would look a lot better. We got rid of the BIG problem, Jeff Fisher, who was WAY WAY WAY too conservative on offense to make a difference, and for being a "defensive coach" his defenses were below-average to terrible. He tried to turn Chris Johnson into a power back, coming off of a 2,006 yard season, and running backs rarely have an amazing season coming off of a 2,000 yard season. Our defense, much like the 07 Nebraska defense, couldn't stop a paper sack, and we had potential on offense, and we saw it thrive the next year a little, but the potential was there. Randy Moss is a Hall of Famer, but our inept COACHING STAFF COULD NOT figure out a way to get them on the field at the same time, to stretch the defense and open up our running game, with the BEST running back in the NFL, and if not the best, definitely #2 in the NFL. Jared Cook Jr., should have been our starting Tight End/Wide Receiver hybrid, a fast guy for his size and could, again, stretch the defense to open up the running game, but would never see the field because of our INEPT coaching staff, and only saw playing time LATER in the season when the team basically already gave up. Again, seems like a common trend. Bo Scaife is not a true NFL tight end and can not block well. Our line should be improved once we get a better Center there, and with Mike Munchak hiring to do things HIS way, the overall offense should be better under a different philosophy, and even stated there would be changes, and this is one of them. Vince Young was/is/should be our starting quarterback. However, with the new changes, he looks to be on the way out, even though I would keep him for one more year since he only has one year left on his contract and we aren't going to start a rookie. Our offensive line needs work, I will give you that, but with a change in philosophy, hopefully that shows results as well. But to say we don't have: WR, RB, TE, QB [Vince Young, but he will probably not be there next year], we need to have a #2 Wide Receiver, as most of our #2's are in reality #3's or 4's. So I will give you the offensive line and #2 WR we are missing, but if Britt is on the field, it takes more to cover him which can open someone else and the running game. Stats tell a lot of the story, but they don't tell the whole story when it comes to inept coaching. Just look at our own offense from 2010. Lead the Big XII in rushing but couldn't get it done when it mattered the most, and we all want Watson gone, so that seems to be the trend, it goes back to coaching, because to say we don't have potential on Nebraska's offense is again, laughable. Especially the 2010 offense had a lot of depth. Back on topic, hopefully the new offensive coordinator installs his philosophy and we see much better and CONSISTENT results in 2011. I'm Saying the guy really is an offensive genius. Did that pan out in Nebraska no, but the NFL has more talent and more time to learn. I really think he would excel as a NFL OC. .................and I hate the Titans. sorry
  16. Isn't the whole point of the "spread" that you spread the defense across the field, negating the need to "power" through their massed DL and LBs? I think you're making a valid point. Regardless of what the terminology is, I just want to see us be capable of lining up and running the damn ball. If that's out of a spread, Wing T, Wishbone, Power I or whatever makes no difference to me. Just run it however you can and be effective at it. Same goes for the passing game. I'm really easy to please - just don't shoot yourself in the foot and move the ball. Knapplc have you been reading my thoughts again? I told you to stop.
  17. bill callahan went from failed college head coach to pro line coach. if shawn watson goes from failed college OC to pro OC, ill run naked through the old market. maybe you meant he gets hired on with the new offensive staff? i even have a hard time figuring where he would actually fit. QB coach? nah. TE's? hrm. who knows. I know he has a decent offensive mind, but he's like the vanilla ice cream of coaches. He has NEVER really made a mark of success in any particular area. and i agree zoogies, he's done a pretty damn good job with sanchez, and a group of cast-off, ego maniac receivers. Good point......but I take the stand that anywhere is better than here. Not, that he is a bad coach just not the right fit for us. I see him being more successful in the NFL. They have more time to learn his "Multiple" schemes.
  18. The Titans just fired their OC mike heimerdinger today. It could be a good fit. My link
  19. So your saying not regardless? So you won't like him if he changes position? Sorry, I had to pick on you.
  20. the Co-coordinator position could be a transition thing. Bring in someone young, without enough experience as co. and have Beck running half the offense and training. The thing I haven't heard is if Beck even wants the OC position. I myself wouldn't see why he wouldn't want it but it is very possible that he is happy at his current position.
