  1. I would like to see the Big 12 stay together with some revised conditions(that I know won't happen, but NU should be trying to negotiate the following) such as; annually rotating the Big 12 Conf Championship site between the North and South, Texas scrapping the Texas network and using the Big Ten equal revenue sharing model under the new Big XII Network, and an annual game with Oklahoma. However I am not completely opposed to joining the Big Ten, It would be great to see games against Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame. I do fear the with the 16 team conferences the Big Ten would fall to the third among the new Conferences behind the PAC 10/Big XII South merger(+ CU) and the SEC who could become even more powerful with whoever the wanted to add in (FSU, Miami, VT, Ga Tech, or Clemson). The Big Ten would pretty much be known as the cold weather conference, and it is already more difficult to recruit in the North when we do play in some warm weather games late in the schedule, but if we went to the Big Ten once NU gets into the Oct schedule the weather start getting cold, pretty much 3/4 of the games are more than likely going to be played in 45deg or less weather.
  2. If the Pac 10 makes that move I think it is going to accelerate the Big Ten to makes it's move. I don't see Nebraska getting left out of the Power Conferences, in fact the Big Ten will need Nebraska even more so just to keep up with the Pac 10, with the Pac 10 adding Texas and OU, the Big 10 needs to add star power of it's own, ie. Nebraska and ND. Mizzou and a bunch of Big East schools aren't going to do it. Also you have to think, Barry Alvarez is very well respected and has a lot of influence in the Big 10, he's not just going to sit back and watch his Alma mater get left in the dust.
  3. I'd just like to see Nebraska (football) win the Big XII Title each year the next 2-3yrs before moving on to the Big Ten. By the time Nebraska actually leaves the Big XII conference, they'd be seen as the top program in the conference, and it would be a huge blow for the Texas-centric Big XII Conference to lose Nebraska, it would sting a lot more and land definitely leave more of a scar on the conference. If Nebraska is just okay but doesn't win any Conference Titles before they leave, the replacement would be a lot easier. The program needs to go out with a bang, and build up as a much momentum as possible heading into the new Big Ten conference.
  4. If the Big 10 expands to 16 teams and Nebraska joins, what are the other 4 teams you would like to see join along with Nebraska?
  5. If Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado all leave I think the Big 12 easily survives. - Colorado State is an easy replacement for Colorado. - Move Oklahoma and Oklahoma State into the North Division - Invite TCU (which has been a top 25 team for a few years now, and a rising program, that plays great Defense) - Invite Houston (beat 2 Big 12 Programs last year) and bring in a very explosive Offense. If that happens the Big 12 not only survives, but becomes a little more balanced between the North and South. I still think that the South would still be a little more powerful and the additions of TCU and Houston could prove to be very formidable foes to Texas, and they would only get better, their recruiting and talent level would increase immensely as BCS schools. Then they would decide if they want to expand to 14-16 teams. If they do, they have to target Arkansas. A lot of people say they wouldn't leave the SEC, but they would love to be playing in Texas, and get into the Texas recruiting base. If the Big 12 improved their media contracts I think Arkansas would at the very least seriously consider the move. Other potentials are Utah, BYU, Boise State. *If Texas, Oklahoma leave as well whether it's the Pac 10/SEC/or Independent then yeah the Big 12 is done, they look more like the Mountain West Conference than a BCS conference.
  6. I think it's the SEC that may impact what Notre Dame does. I have been reading that the SEC wants to be proactive instead of reactive. Everybody talks about them wanting to take Texas/Texas A&M or Texas/Oklahoma, and they will probably take that stab at a Texas and somebody else combination, but the teams that make the most sense here are Florida State and Miami out of the ACC, which both would gladly jump over to the SEC. If that happens then the dominos start to fall, the ACC will have to replace those 2 teams and if they want to keep up with everyone else they would have to bring in 4 total to make it 14 teams in the conference, and most likely those teams would come out of the Big East. I think Pitt is the first team that gets in to the Big Ten, then 4 other teams from the Big East go to the ACC which forces ND to make a choice to look out for the future of there other athletic programs and the Big Ten is the most logical choice here. SEC adds: FSU, Miami ACC adds: West Virginia, Uconn, USF, Louisville (or Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati) but they only need 4 here. Big Ten adds: Pitt, ND, Neb I would be happy to see Nebraska go to the Big Ten especially if they added Pitt and ND. And since the Big 12 seems like it's not being very active in this whole picture.
  7. I don't see why the Big XII is not being very proactive at this point. They need to come up with a TV contract and once they do that it would be a lot easier to lure other programs to the conference and have it's own expansion instead of falling behind the other conferences. Arkansas: would be a great candidate. They fit in really well regionally. As long as the Big 12 had a TV contract there is no way they would turn it down. It just makes a lot of sense to me. TCU: I know a lot of people say they don't want another Texas team in the Big 12 but lets face it TCU has earned a spot in a BCS conference. People are worried about having another team fighting over Texas recruits, but I still think that there will always be Texas kids that want to go to Nebraska, and besides that Nebraska recruits Nationally we don't get all our recruits from Texas. Iowa: This would be a very tough program to lure into the Big 12, but Iowa vs. Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas has to appeal to Iowa. The Big 12 needs to make a strong push for this program, and it has the potential to be a great rivalry with Nebraska. Colorado State: Would join the Conference tomorrow if offered. If Colorado sticks around then we should bring in CSU. I think TCU and CSU would be very easy to bring into the Conference, and if the Big XII were able to get the TV contract with the revenue sharing that is comparable to the SEC and Big 10 I believe Arkansas would be on board as well. They need to convince Iowa some how some way, and this conference could not only top the Big Ten after it's expansion, but also the SEC.
  8. If the Chiefs really wanted to get Suh, it would be very easy to make a trade with St. Louis involving Dorsey. St Louis would be more than happy to move down to 5, Bradford or Clausen or both could be there at # 5.
  9. I have heard that the Redskins who want Okung think that Okung might not be there @ 4 and if he isn't they would take Berry. 1. Bradford 2. Okung 3. McCoy 4. Berry. If Berry isn't there at 5 the Chiefs aren't going to reach for an OT, so they either take the best available play (Suh) or they would have to trade down in this scenario.
  10. They probably had to make room to add more Texas commits to the ESPN150.
  11. Which is actually a bad thing, if the height is legit. Reason being he will have a tougher time getting low to stop edge rushers. And if he plays inside, it will be much easier for DTs to gain leverage on a much taller opponent. And being still in HS, he's likely to grow more. So you have to wonder how tall he will get. I actually hope for once a kids height isn't right and he is a few inches shorter than listed. It seems like the NFL covets these tall OT, 6'5" - 6'7" has almost become the standard especially the Left Tackles. You don't see very many 6'3" guys at that spot any more. I imagine it's b/c of the arm length the have. If he is 6'9" he's going to have a huge reach advantage against almost anybody he matches up against. If he can develop great technique and has quick enough feet he's going to be very very tough to pass rush against. Iowa is like an OL factory they seem to send quality O-linemen to the NFL every year. They must have seen something they liked in him to offer him. And who knows 10 yrs down the road everyone might be looking for that 6'8" - 6'9" OT.
  12. I can't wait to see Mel Kiper and Todd McShay debate this one out! Mel says Suh is the most dominating DT he has seen in 32 yrs and McShay says Suh is not quite as disruptive as McCoy is.....
  13. I think if he is as good as people say he is, you get him on the field as soon as possible. They say his running style is unique, that could be a nice change of pace. You also have to think about a life span of a running back in the NFL which is not very long compaired to other positions in the league. Usually the top running backs want to come out their Junior year so that have that extra year in the NFL. If this kid ends up being an NFL caliber running back he's not going to want to stick around til after his RS/5th year Senior season.
  14. What is this crap about Nebraska having a small media market? Does that mean that Nebraska doesn't get high TV ratings? If that is the case why in the world would they want Missouri, there is no way Missouri drives higher TV ratings than NU. I'm in the military and where ever I go there are large groups of Husker fans just as many as Ohio State, USC, Texas, OU, and Florida fans. When they say media market are they just talking about in the state of Nebraska it self, b/c Husker nation is all over the place!
  15. If Nebraska goes to the Big Ten, would the Big 12 conference be stronger? Think about it Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, and Nebraska compared to just Texas and Oklahoma out of the Big 12... I think the Big Ten would win that argument. But it will depend on what happened that year, will Oklahoma State and Texas Tech be good teams, and will Michigan rise back up to the level they should be.
  16. If Nebraska went to the Big Ten, they could still keep their rivalry with Oklahoma by scheduling an annual game with them, like Notre Dame and USC, or Florida and Florida State do.
  17. But those jerseys didn't form fit!!!!! :ahhhhhhhh :ahhhhhhhh I'm not suggesting that they should wear them every game. I just think they looked intimidating in them.
  18. I'm not a fan of the all white or all red, but I think it be cool if they went back to the style of jersey they wore back in the 90s for a couple of games here and there. It seemed like the material was different, it was unique to what everyone else around the country was wearing at the time.
  19. I heard that Texas is the one that is doing most of the talking. If that is true then this is a very real possiblility. There is no question the Big Ten would benifit from this. With Texas you get a huge media market, and it will definately help the ability for Big Ten teams to go in and recruit in the state of Texas. Plus is changes the preception of the Big Ten conference to not just a regional but more of a National Conference. This would be a major blow to the Big 12 Conference. As much as I don't like Texas, I love to watch Nebraska play Texas and I'd hate to see Texas go...
  20. I don't think there are a lot of people that really got the grasp of how good and what the Nebraska defense actually did last season. How many times did our offense go 3 and out or turned the ball over and put our defense back on the field with there backs against the wall, yet still the remain the number 1 scoring defense in the Country. How many times did the Defense get the ball back for the Offense just to see them NOT capitalize. Most defenses, even the good ones would have folded over if that were to happen to them on a consistent basis like it did to Nebraska. What would have happened if Nebraska had a little more ball control, how good would they have been statistically? I know this is bold, but I think we would have matched up better against Alabama than Texas did. I just think that our defense, and special teams would have been able to make enough plays to beat Alabama.
  21. McShay says McCoy is a better pass rusher, better disrupter, and will put up better pass rushing production WTF! What a joke, McCoy had 14 sacks in his career, Suh had 12 in a single season. NOBODY has been more disruptive than Suh has in the last two seasons. These Draft experts baffle me!
  22. I like Cody Green's potential, I think he will make big strides this offseason; However I think it will depend on how Lee bounces back from surgery. We've seen flashes of how well Lee can throw the ball, he throws a really nice deep ball, but is hesitant to throw the ball down field at times, and most of the season he didn't seem to run the ball with much authority when he chose to pull it down. We finally saw that in the bowl game. If Zac Lee continues to play the way he did in the Arizona game, (he made decisive decisions, ran with determination, and threw the ball well) he will start, but I think we will still see a lot of Cody Green. I agree with what you say about Lee.. Many people say how he underthrows the deep ball. That did happen quite a bit this year, but how much of that was due to injury? I guess we'll find out that one. As far as Green.. If Lee starts and everything goes well, we honestly should RS Green if the coaches think he is the future of this program. Give him another year to mature and learn the playbook, and get him on the field as a RS sophomore. It would be nice to RS Green next season, I guess it depends on how solid the other QB's are. I've always heard if a player makes his way up to the 2 deeps you don't RS them, but maybe with the added depth that we have a QB this year, we can afford to do that.
  23. I like Cody Green's potential, I think he will make big strides this offseason; However I think it will depend on how Lee bounces back from surgery. 24. Spano has been injured this whole time, he might be able to push competition at QB, but I seriously doubt he will come in and take over the back up spot. I don't know why everybody wants to write off CG so quickly, the kid was an 18 y/o FRESHMAN! He has all the physical tools, runs well, has a strong arm(needs to learn to take some off of it) and was only in the system for less than a yr before he got on the field(in a system that takes a while for a QB to get down). He will more than likely make a big jump mentally to his second year in the system, and still maturing physically as well. Kody Spano, has got to be rusty, and you have to wonder about his confidence as well. Is he going to think about his knee every time he steps on the field?
  25. I agree that it would help out a lot if he could land 2-3 of the top recruits out of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Colorado, and obviously keep our top recruits in-state. If you look at the class Callahan was putting together (2008 class) before he got fired, he was getting some of the top recruits from the surrounding states, and if I can remember right we made our way to number 7 on rivals recruiting rankings before everyone started de-committing. I'm sure most of you guys already know this, probably followed it closer than I did, cringing every time someone de-committed that year. The Rankings are from Rivals. 1. QB. Blaine Gabbert 5* Pos rank/1, Nat/14, State(Mo)/1 2. OT. Bryce Givens 4* Pos/12, Nat/98, State(Co)/1 3. OG. Dan Hoch 4* Pos/18, State(Iowa)/1 4. Ath. Will Compton 4* Pos/34, State(Mo)/3 (Eckeler got him to stay) Then we also had good talent at the top in-state that year 5. OT. Baker Steinkuhler 5* Pos/2, Nat/8, State(Ne)/1 (obviously stayed) 6. OG. Trevor Robinson 4* Pos/1, Nat/37, State(Ne)/2 (IMO this de-commit hurt the most) Was on the field as a Frosh at ND, could have used him this year on the line. 7. LB. Sean Fisher 3* Pos/43, State/3 (stayed) 7 Top recruits out of Nebraska and surrounding states, that would be a 3rd of the recruiting class on a year like this year, and then go to your other pipelines, like Texas, Cali, and Florida. Location is the number 1 reason a recruit chooses a school. It is easier to convince a recruit to commit when the location is close to home. We should be going after the top recruits from the border states. If you can get a combination of the border recruits and do what we've been able to do Nationally as well, we should have top 15 recruiting classes year in and year out...
