  1. Lottery pick? Like NBA? I'm just being a smartass. If he hadn't gotten arrested right before the draft he would have been picked higher, but I agree with you. If Dennard was taller, he would have been a much higher pick in the draft. Dude had pretty insane cover and ball skills.
  2. This offer is interesting, considering the commitment of Pledger already.
  3. Im interested in knowing, with 4 days to prepare for the Iowa game, TA has a torn Hammy and all of a sudden Fyfe can't take a ball from center.....who do you think should have played QB with a realistic chance to actually be ready to run an offense? Im interested in knowing, with 4 days to prepare for the Iowa game, TA has a torn Hammy and all of a sudden Fyfe can't take a ball from center.....who do you think should have played QB with a realistic chance to actually be ready to run an offense? If the main problem was taking snaps from under center - which has mainly been what was stated - they could always ... you know ... not take snaps from under center. I would have gone wildcat the whole game or had Fyfe in the shotgun or pistol. No way in hell would I have had TA risk further injury by trying to play on a torn hammy. Not only further injury to the hamstring, but being on the field and physically unable to move to avoid contact and/or protect himself. Now maybe it was a strain and he tore it against Iowa..... Thats a possibility. It just goes to show the dismal depth that this program is in across the board...... Not blaming Riley, nor attacking Bo. Its a simple fact that were are currently woefully prepared to replace any injured players in some positions, QB the most glaring..... So fo all intensive purposes, our plan this year was to carry 2 QB's....TA and Fyfe. No real thought or plan if Fyfe went down earlier in the year? Just asking. Was th plan if Fyfe goes out prior to week "X", we burn the shirt. After that, we just lose? Again, I'd be getting Darlington ready to start. I am sure that AJ Bush transferring in mid-August didn't exactly help matters. It didn't exactly give them a ton of time to figure out another option before the season. I think that is prime reason number one they want a walk on qb for depth.
  4. Alabama who is the pinnacle of CFB and can get better recruits than we can takes about 3 JUCOS every year. They also have quite a large amount of players leave early for the NFL.
  5. He actually played some (albeit meaningless) snaps this season. But you're probably right. He'll look for opportunities elsewhere. When? I don't think so. Didn't make the fall camp initial roster or travel for away games. Spotted him late in the game vs. Wyoming. I second this, saw him come in real late in be game. Only time I've ever seen him. I remember being surprised to see him, given he didn't make the fall camp roster.
  6. Creighton is gonna be tough this year. They have a pretty talented roster. He's gotta get over the hump on them though.
  7. Alonzo had more shoulder issues. Wasn't even in pads at the end.
  8. I would suggest you try Phat Jacks if you think there isn't good BBQ in Lincoln.
  9. It won't be his worst year and he won't be gone......With the star power he has that is young on this roster he will be given timeas he should be.
  10. No, he wouldn't because to two factors.: 1) It's a football school 2) The program was in total disarray when he arrived. It is being built pretty much from scratch and that doesn't happen overnight. The program was in disarray every year Doc was here and he managed to muster enough kids to play and even finished out with a better overall record. We had multiple new guys every single year under Doc, no chemistry ever. Who goes from NCAA tourney to bottom of B1G with the same exact team? Nebraska that's who, or else the only guy we lost (Leslee Smith) must have been superman. And the whole they are Freshman talk is irrelevant in basketball, it's a strong point in football. We got better recruits than we have ever had and they have not been playing like freshman. Every team in NCAA basketball plays freshman, hell half the time the top schools are playing practically ALL freshman. Yes there is a difference in top 10 talent, but two top 150 kids that have produced this year along with a few others do not make our problems due to "freshman." I understand the premise of your argument, but I have to disagree with you on a few things. I agree that the drop off the year after the tournament was strange and extremely disappointing, however the freshman talk is definitely not irrelevant. Very few schools can make deep runs with a rotation of mainly freshman, and the schools that do (i.e. Kentucky, Duke, etc..) are signing the cream of the crop freshman, whom many of which could play in the NBA out of high school. I would argue that Nebraska's freshmen have indeed played like freshmen. They occasionally and sometimes often have shown flashes, but lack the consistency to be heavily relied upon to carry a team. For example, look at Jack McVeigh. He put up games of 17 and 16 points against Indiana and Ohio State respectively and followed those games up with two scoreless games against Penn State and Purdue. I know this might be simplifying your argument, but to expect Watson, Morrow, McVeigh, and Jacobson to be playing at a level like Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram is in my opinion ridiculous. It just isn't realistic. No, Nebraska's problems aren't all freshmen related, the lack of perimeter shooting and size issues are a much bigger problem (no pun intended). But to think that the "freshmen factor" is irrelevant is naive. Just wanted to add this article that I found interesting. http://www.wsj.com/articles/college-basketballs-senior-moment-1455662462
  11. After a quick search, I was able to find the article. Not sure what could be done about using the school's broadcasters and video feeds on the channels, but I would imagine they would still need a control room to control the broadcast. I could very well be wrong on that aspect though. http://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2016/2/5/10922304/college-basketball-big-ten-pac-12-acc-network-no-overflow-channels
  12. I would definitely like more actual sports coverage, but I wonder if the production costs are just too high to warrant sending crews to a ton of events each year. I'm sure that's a lot of it. I wonder what the logistics would be to send about two cameras and use the local radio guys for the audio. One camera in the outfield behind the pitcher for the main shots and one wide-angle from behind home plate. Wouldn't be the best production but would at least be more live programming. Or use the school's broadcasting majors like they've done for some basketball games. I mean don't they have alternate Big Ten channels? Instead of charging for the Big Ten Digital Network just use video from the schools and audio from radio and play that on btn. I used to wonder this myself. An article was posted a couple weeks ago that I will have to find, but basically during football season they have access to an extra control room (I wanna say in Houston) that allows them to show content on the overflow channels. The rest of the year they only use their main control room, thus eliminating the ability to show games on the "extra" channels.
  13. I was listening to Benning too, and I took it as Damon was saying that Riley isn't going to shy away from saying what areas need improvements and where mistakes were made. Riley allows his assistant coaches to have autonomy within their position groups and how they coach their guys if you will. However, with that autonomy that Riley gives, he also expects a high level of accountability and will say when his standards aren't being met. It is similar in his praise of Trent Bray, in that Bray has clearly been accountable, so Riley has made sure that Bray has gotten credit for that.
  14. Hey Mark-The reality is that LB is a major need. Riley stated at the beginning of last season that they needed 6 or 7 more LBs to truly run the defense they would like to. We have 2 LB recruits to date, so it would seem a minimum of 3 more. This is why Reese was such a big loss....are there 3 other comparable LBs out there we can land? Hopefully this staff is onto this talent and is not going to settle for lesser talent. I might be wrong here but pretty sure Riley included edge rushers in the 6-7 so he isn't looking for 6-7 true linebackers but a combo of 6-7 OLB rushers/defensive ends
  15. Shook his hand whilst drunk at a Nebrasketball game...seemed like a nice dude.
  16. Agreed. Bo and staff seemed pretty good at finding guys early just to have other schools swoop in. Guy like Jason Hall comes to mind.
  17. Haha the elderly couple behind me talked about you the entire game were they talking good about me or bad? And I was at the football game as well but I still cheered them on.
  18. Student crowd was pathetic but myself dressed as Mike wazowski tried to get people pumped up
