  1. Boy if you watched game day you'd have no idea the B1G has a championship game tonight.

I'm sure the same teams playing each other again in a week has something to do with the attendance as well.
  3. I think it's good, and even healthy, to be emotionally invested in a positive way (letting loose, yelling and shouting, supporting your team) but really does you a disservice to get too invested negatively. There are more important things in life than sports, so let's enjoy the enjoyable and brush off the less than ideal. Go big red. It's like dating, I just didn't want to spill my guts and get burned again. It's happened too many times before. I'm a pretty reserved guy anyways, that doesn't mean I don't know how to have a good time, I just pride myself on being level headed. At least now I do anyways... But I just feel like this team is on the cusp of something big. And like the teams before them under Bo they have been laying a solid foundation and tomorrow night we could finally be climbing out of the basement.
  4. Ever since UCLA game and especially Ohio State I've tried not to get too emotionally invest in these games, but now I'm really struggling to do that. I just want to let loose and yell and shout and watch the 'skers kick ass! Don't let me down boys!
  5. No that's what Fox News, the Catholic Church, and some Republicans made it about to begin with. And then the extremist did as Carl said above.
  6. I wish I could find a video clip, but I feel like Blackburn in Back Hawk Down. Clicking his carabiner, "Excited. In a good way."
  7. I think if you honestly want to keep the integrity of every game counting in the regular season you need to limit the field to conference champions and take into account head to head match ups, if any, between selected teams. But the pool should never expand beyond 16 teams. Really it shouldn't expand past the number of conferences but then you have the independents and some scheduling problems due to the numbers. No one would ever go for it because of logistics and how bizarre it would seem, but some kind of fluid hybrid post season that can adjust to the year would really be best to keep integrity intact and find a true champion.
  8. Wait a minute . . . you think the Democratic Party chose a fight over contraception? You know they did. Obama and Sabelius (sp?) HHS secretary demonized the Catholic church for not wanting to be forced to pay for contraceptions under obamacare. At a mock hearing on Feb. 23, Nancy Pelosi invited Fluke to testify in support of the Obama administration’s decision to have insurance companies pay for contraceptives for employees at religious-affiliated institutions. . Darrell Issa who chaired an earlier hearing, said Fluke was not qualified to speak because she was not a member of the clergy. But Fluke was a set up to become the poster girl for Obama in the campaign - the gal who could not afford the $9/mo contraceptives. Then we have ABC moderator setting up Romney with a 'got you' guestion in the debate. Obama's who women's compaign centered around this issue, while Romney pointed out how women lost so many jobs under Obama in comparrison to men. You realize not all BC cost $9/month, and there are plenty of other medical uses for BC other than controlling pregnancy. Which is what miss Fluke was testifying to. Why should the church be allowed to deny someone the right to have preventative care simply because they deem it against their religion, when in reality that person isn't using it in violation of the religion's views?
  9. I said MULTIPLE times in my post that I want to eliminate the NEED for abortions. Sorry if your reading comprehension is bad. Easy now, carl has a point even if it is a bit pedantic. I think he's just pointing out your ethnocentrism. You believe that people think they NEED to kill babies, but in reality sometimes there is a justified medical reason to have an abortion. You may not have intended to say it but you are basically wanting to suppress people's thoughts, or convert them to your beliefs.
  10. That was a great game despite the loss, and you experienced true Nebraska weather changing on a whim. Cloudy, sunny, snow, sun/snow, then sunny again.
  11. Uh sure, haha. I was really hoping this would be the number one song...
  12. A little premature, don't you think? The last that I saw was that Nebraska has only sold about half of its alotted tickets for the CCG. I hope it is much more filled than what I expect. I think it will be, University sales are more than likely being undercut by stub hub and company with cheaper prices.
  13. I think that's why I like him, I may get flamed for this but... He has always reminded me a bit of Brett Favre. Not as a passer or anything like that, but just the style he plays the game with. He can make you furious one play and ecstatic the next, like they said keeping both team in it. And he even has his little Farve moments when he scrambles and throws those underhand or ill advised dump passes that should be picked off 99% but usually aren't. Just that care free gunslinger attitude is always fun to watch. And they're both like little kids out there having fun, Taylor doesn't get as crazy as Brett but for an introvert he has a good time.
  14. I don't know you might have to look at it from a very big picture perspective as another analogy of how screwed the education system is becoming. The cost of education is seemingly always on the rise, people want to go to school to get better jobs, but very few young people can get enough scholarships and wealth to graduate on their or their parents own dime. So they get a student loan and mom and dad cosign since the student won't have the collateral. Kind of a catch 22 for the parents. Nobody wants to hold their kids back, but they also don't want to be responsible for their debts when they become adults or god forbid pass away. Especially since they are more than likely reaching the twilight years of their career. Like I said I'm torn. In the eyes of the law she should have known better and now she needs to pay up, but as a fellow human being how can you not feel for her.
  15. I always forget, there were so many... good catch.
  16. Almost 13 years ago, that was the last time Nebraska won a conference championship. For almost a decade this fan base hasn't had anything very tangible to cheer about, and my how the world has changed in that time. The internet is much more expansive, we have this great forum, we as a nation had good times and some pretty bad ones, almost everyone has a cellphone in their pocket and it's ridiculously thin, who could have imagined tablets, and Pluto was a planet back then! So I though it would just be fun to take a look back at the world of 1999. Not really a point to this thread just thought we could reminisce about football and life, feel free to share you memories of '99. First, the Husker were 12-1 that year defeating Texas (yes Texas!) in San Antonia at the championship game 22-6 after losing 20-24 earlier that year in Austin. The Husker went on to beat Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl 31-21. Ironically enough the Huskers played Southern Miss that year but won by only 7 points in a 20-13 victory. The average price of a gallon of gas around December 4th was about $1.38 The number one song on December 4th 1999 was: Some movies from 1999: Eyes Wide Shut, The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, The Matrix, Star Wars Episode I, American Beauty, The Green Mile, American Pie, The Boondock Saints, Office Space, 10 Things I Hate About You, and The World Is Not Enough Notable events from 1999: The Euro was established Jesse Venture became governor of Minnesota Michael Jordan announces his second retirement Clinton is acquitted by the Senate in his impeachment trial O.J. Simpson sells his Heisman Trophy The Kosovo War Dr. Kevorkian is found guilty Columbine Shooting Oklahoma city is hit by and F5 tornado John F. Kennedy Jr., Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and Lauren Bessette are killed in a plane crash Michael Johnson breaks the 400m world record First docking with the international space station NASA looses contact with two Mars exploration vehicles Last flight of the SR-71 Blackbird Texas A&M bonfire tragedy Control of Panama Canal is given to Panama Boris Yeltsin resigns as President of Russia
  17. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the "steroids don't really cause roid rage!" song and dance that people are pushing these days is a flat out lie. I think there's some truth to it. I worked with a guy who took them at one time and he said he did get a little more moody and quicker to anger, but I highly doubt it would cause you to rage. It's probably the male equivalent of pms with the hormonal changes going on.
  18. I've had Saturday night's alright for fighting stuck in my head all week. Get in my car tonight to get food turn the key and what do I hear but Elton Belting out the chorus of Saturday nights the night I like! Hopefully it'll be a good weekend.

Before the days of Ipods or even personal cassette players I used to train for cross country running to the pace of that song. It will be a good weekend.

  19. I honestly don't know how I feel about this... I mean, when you cosign a student loan you better know full well that it's a risk no matter how responsible or smart your kid is. I feel really bad for her, but there are quite a few parents on the hook in this economy and probably a few others in her same situation. The bank is entitled to their compensation, and right now the only thing I can think is that it should at least be spelled out clearly that the debt will not be forgiven upon death of the student.
  20. I'm pretty sure that was filmed in Manhattan and Stillwater. You should check it out it was a good one. I thought that was the Martinez Identity. Man, I get so confused with all these movie names! Maybe, oh well. I can't wait for the Martinez Ultimatum! NC or else!!!
  21. I'm pretty sure that was filmed in Manhattan and Stillwater. You should check it out it was a good one.
  22. Run blocking has been a great improvement this year. Still room to grow as always, but if it stayed the same next year I wouldn't be terribly disappointed. Pass blocking is where we need to see significant improvement. Too many sacks, scrambles, and in pocket fumbles. I just feel like we are hit or miss sometimes on pass pro, but that falls on everyone from Taylor (directing protection), to the RBs and the line.
  23. So 41-35 is an ass beating now a days? I think people look at it from the past couple years, the end of last and the beginning of this season. If you're Michigan it certainly feels like an ass beating. If your us it feels like another missed opportunity, but teams we can compete with any day. I honestly feel that the SEC is in no way the best conference in the nation. Their elite teams are on par with the elites from the B1G and Pac12, if anything the Big XII is the conference having the down year.
  24. Is it Saturday night yet?
