  1. I'd like to see this thread AFTER a loss. I'm sure there would be 20-25 teams on this list if it was made during last week's pity party. IMO, this team should be ranked at about 20-25. Which means that, all things being equal, 20 teams would beat Nebraska 6+ times out of 10
  2. Yeah - I was sort of cynical as to the motives of cars.com. If they want to pull out, pull out - why release a press release? Just pull your ads, and let ESPN figure out what to do. I doubt ESPN says anything under those circumstances, and if they don't how would we know who was afraid of being associated with this event - I don't sit around and memorize who advertises each week on the ESPN games and take note of who didn't advertise this week vs last week. I think this is more about "we must show how we are more against child abuse than the everyone else". I don't see a lot of altruism here. It would be interesting if all sponsors pull out. What would we see - nothing put ESPN ads (kind of like if you've ever watched a game on ESPN GamePlan) Same thing as dvdcrr posted as his reason why he believes Nebraska should boycott the PSU game. "Here at cars.com, we don't condone child rape. That's the message we're sending here." Except instead of actually sending that message, they're sending a message that because they're willing to come right out and say it, they're morally superior to all those other heathens who must obviously condone child rape because they're not making a public statement that they don't. +1
  3. How about this? If we play better than them, we stand a good chance of winning. I'm not going to waste time trying to figure out what effect the one person who WON'T be at the game on Saturday will have on the outcome.
  4. Yeah... We should find a hole and hide in it. Football is scary.
  5. There was a big controversy in Jacksonville over Mel Tucker running a 4-3 instead of a 3-4, but ultimately it came down to just not having the right personnel to run a 3-4. I'm guessing it's the same reason why we're not running a 3-4. I don't think we have either the depth at linebacker or the right guys for the job. I think Eric Martin would be a perfect fit for a 3-4 OLB
  6. We didn't lose. I didn't watch the game. Therefore, it never happened.
  7. I don't know what to think at this point. If any of us thought that TMart's stat line would be 28-37 289 yds 2 TDs 0 INTs, I don't think we would have imagined a home loss to Northwestern would accompany it.
  8. Sounds like a good press conference. Putting things in perspective. Answering questions he wants to answer. Politely deflecting ones he doesn't. Not to make too big of a deal about it, nor implying that he gives a crap about what any of us think, but I credit him for the step forward.
  9. +1 It's just as old and tired as the very threads he's referring to.
  10. Everyone is saying how pathetic it is to continue ripping a team that is no longer in your conference. Yet, we have a full thread of Nebraska fans doing just that.
  11. Rex Burkhead is so awesome that he once fumbled, and HuskerBoard did not call for his benching.
  12. Wy: Its obvious that you were probably a 2.0 student at best to start another one of these posts. BTW Wy, did you know Pelini's team does have over a 3.0 gpa as a team? Yep, highest since 1987. But you don't care about that, you are clearly only concerned with winning. And that's why we're on this board after Saturday, right? Yes, it's nice. But when a fan from another team starts running their mouth, do you come back with 'well, our team GPA is way higher than yours!' "when was the last time 80000 people showed up to watch a kid do a damn chemistry experiment?" -James Caan in The Program
  13. Never forget that making one of our LBs a spy means taking him out of pass coverage. Who do you want covering an athletic TE or 5th wideout? Will Compton? Spying sounds like a f***ing brilliant idea if we're allowed to bring a 12th guy on the field to do it.
  14. As has been said, mobile QBs are a headache for any defense. I have been disappointed this year in our D line's in ability to collapse the pocket. Instead, it seems like we're shooting gaps and flushing them out of the pocket, which is a great way to invite a QB with wheels to run all over you.
  15. And if you love overstating things to this level, then you are absurd.
  16. Nebraska is in a good place. Yes, yesterday's loss was tough. They will never be talented enough or deep enough, like we were accustomed to for the better part of 30 years, to skate by weaker opponents when they play uninspired and unmotivated. However, I fully expect this team to win 9-10 games this year, and that's with a Jekyll and Hyde sophomore QB, thin D line, young secondary, young O line, and 5 freshman skill position players who all show flashes of brilliance. Losing Dennard and David will hurt next year, but I think the D will be better overall. The quest is now to play better, hope for an MSU loss, and try to win the conference, which is very ordinary this year. As has been said, I'll take a sure 9 wins. This is STILL the team that got blown out by Wisky. Amazing how a couple wins against mediocre opponents removed from that game will spur a few 'If we win out, we could win it all....' threads.
  17. What exactly can be posted on this forum that matters, in any sense of the word?
  18. This is a matter of opinion I suppose. What is there to suggest that the B1G has 12 legit teams? When did a Big 10 team make a statement out of conference this year? The ones that scheduled weaklings survived their non con unscathed. The ones that didn't got beat. Do you think MSU, UW, NU are top ten teams? I'll spare you the suspense....they aren't. But that was their ranking when they met head to head in conference play. I think the best team in the B1G is Wisconsin, and they're ranked about where they should be.
  19. And then the thunder was called down....
  20. What's wrong with Taylor's throwing motion? He looks like a pro QB to me. And I should know. I watch the Chosen One sling it around the yard every week for the Denver Broncos.
  21. It's my fault. I was looking ahead to the Michigan game. I knew the team would suffer if I didn't take it one game at a time.
  22. I still don't know what your complaint is. That both the league and Nebraska are overrated and mediocre? OK So I guess it's a lucky thing then that Nebraska made the jump to the Big 10. If they were still in the Big 12 they'd prolly be getting thumped every week and have no shot at a bowl. Is that it? Maybe what Nebraska shuld have done was join the Ivy League. Then it could can return to the glory days of weekly 57-10 routes of prostate opponents and guaranteed 11-1 records. That was much more interesting, wasn't it? Not sure I was complaining. I guess I always despised the Big 10 for all the aforementioned reasons. I think I was hoping, like many of you were, that the addition of NU, along with what was being sold as a legit contender in UW, that things were different. My point is that the conference is the same, and Nebraska has fallen right in line. We belong in this conference. Right now, we're a second tier program. We should be ranked between 15 and 25 most every year, every now and again getting a special QB that gives us a shot at the MNC. That's the reality I see. It's not a bad place to be. My only point in starting the thread was that the Big Ten is still the Big Ten, and we're balls deep in it.
