  1. We have Indiana and tOSU here... advantage us but we play Illinois and Purdue on the road... tough games... especially the Illinois series this coming weekend in what could be some very cold weather. As for winning the B1G, I think our arms are finally showing what we hoped they would, our bats are way down this year but we've improved as the spring has progressed. Lets hope that our non-conference schedule has toughened us enough to be both mentally and physically ready for conference play. Edit: Oh and btw.... I am still predicting a 3 run win tonight
  2. Wow!! The move to the B1G hasn't been nearly as successful for our men as it has for our women... Hoping to see the ladies get a top 4 seed and play close to home. Sweet 16 would be great.

I'd say yes and very successfully to boot. The women seemingly don't make excuses for losing, (new conference environment, out dated facilities, inability to recruit, etc...) like the men seemingly do. Wonder why that is?

Just bustin' your chops. I played against one of our "All-Americans" when I was out of shape in college and I whooped her ass. I just can't stand watching women's basketball. Volleyball on the otherhand is entertaining to watch and has the added bonus of tight fitting clothing.

Nebraska reminds me of my high school. The boys were terrible and the girls were great. One year the boys went 2-20 and the girls went 26-1 and won the state championship.

  3. Regarding the bats... don't overlook the irvine staff. Its very solid and nobody is hitting them. As for the mental toughness... I think its better then it appears and the only lack of toughness I've seen is at la tech but as I mentioned already, I think the unbelievable umpiring had a lot to do with that. There is a reason other top schools won't play texa$$.... Their reputation is that bad.
  4. eventually the ball will bounce our way... things always balance. Yesterday was a very good win. We need to win 2 of the next 3 but that is a huge task. Splitting with Fullerton and winning the series at Irvine, tough TOUGH request. I'll be listening. GBR!!
  5. Its an example of being in an uncomfortable position. Closing is not easy, even with a 3 run lead... Vogt is better suited as a relief pitcher... He doesn't have the velocity to close and the zone often shrinks some in the 9th... especially for the visiting team and so, to be a strong closer, respectable heat is needed. I think we've learned three important things so far this weekend. 1. DeLeon deserves the Friday spot 2. Roeder appears to have what it takes to close. (again, just appears, nothing is for sure yet but Vogt is for sure struggling) 3. Lubach has a firm hold on the catcher's position, even with is questionable bat. I was hoping to see Corey get a shot but I doubt that will happen.Have to trust the coaches. Anyone listening to last nights game had to be frustrated with the bats. (and its not just the seniors) However, I see improved play. I've been very harsh on the play of our seniors but probably not as harsh as they themselves have been. As I look back over the game we've played the only weekend that I regret gaming is the Texa$$ series. I honestly believe the games were decided before a pitch was even thrown. I think the umpires gave every possible call they could to TexA$$ and I think that sour taste followed us into the La Tech series. Link to below post from Huskers.com: http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=33&DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=206783810 If we can win this series or even go 2 and 3 over the road trip then I'll be very happy. Think about it... 5 games against ranked opponents on their turf and taking 2 of 5 games... That is what we all hoped for before the season began... Time will tell but I do see reason for optimism.
  6. Deleon showed he deserves the friday start... team played well enough to win... we needed the win but it was comforting to see them compete the way they did... Sang has to figure his bat out. Something changed from last season and its hurting his confidence. Notnscoring pritch in the 5th (leadoff triple) cost us the chance to extend the game. All kn all.. well played, eventually the ball has to start bouncing our way.
  7. Indiana, Wisconsin and Purdue .... that made me laugh...great post.
  8. indeed!! Now, lets make him proud both as fans and on the fields. Girls are doing their part, time for the boys to step up.
  9. maybe Deleon getting his deserved Friday start will energize us. I also hope to see stringer behind the plate. we need someone who can hit for average.
  10. Luback is in his first yr of D1 and Peters is just terrible. The rest all hit over .300 last year. This is why I said sit them on the bench for a week and see how the respond. Give Corey his shot, he's hitting .400 .... wth?
  11. There was so much Husker Baseball enthusiasm to start the season, then the games started. What a disappointment.

OK. Just thought it was weird that the fired died so quickly on the new hire. I hope Erstad gets it going, too. He doesn't lack for passion, but coaching is something he's never done before.

I think we all agree - growing pains suck.

Anderson should have been fired 2 years ago while we still had pitching and the mentality on the team wasn't completely ruined. The quality of our baseball team declined every single year after Anderson took over and accelerated once Childress left.

I'm not nor have I ever mentioned fire erstad... I'm a huge erstad fan. What I've said is if the seniors can't compete, put the underclassmen in.

  12. lol... talent? Where? Chad, maybe, Kelly but outside of them, where? If it exists it hasn't showed up and I've given up excuses and sugar coating. Sang - bat is useless at .149 Darby - is average Scheff - at .240 (wth) Kash - .222 and questionable fielding Headley - .172 enough said though I do think he has talent Lubach, - .167 (umm... does anyone other then the fans see Stringer sitting there at .444) Peters - .167 inexcusable average... If anyone see's talent above, well... take the goggles off. No excuse for these numbers. None!! edit: I don't see any reason to play them.. we need runs and the above mentioned isn't getting it done. Maybe Erstad gives them Friday to show they want to hit.. if we are blown out again and can't put the ball in play, maybe we see the underclassmen Saturday and Sunday. Regardless, this is turning into a wasted season rather quickly.
  13. Is anyone at all looking forward to the weekend (mid week) road trip the baseball team is making? Could be really, REALLY ugly.

I'll tell ya one thing-and this is simply MY opinion. At least it's only baseball, and then I smile again.

  14. The horrendous start to the 2013 baseball season has taken nearly everybit of respect this program once had and thrown it out window. Who would have thought that we would be at the bottom of league in rpi. the seniors on this team need a reality check. hopefully we see more underclassmen playing soon.

lol at tschu... nobody said they were purposely losing, what i did say was if they don't have it, give the underclassmen a chance to play.

I am disappointed with this year. I wasn't expecting a CWS appearance, but I sure in the hell thought we were closer than we are. We talked up a big game, and quickly bit our tongue. Hopefully we will have things figured out by Friday.

    4. NUance
  15. Lol.... that's way to high. There's a reason we aren't playing uno. God forbid we play them in omaha, uno would win the series.
  16. Another pathetic showing..... I didn't realize the cupboard was left so bare. I also get the impression that this team has little heat and next to no unity. Where is the senior leadership? Where is the emotional leader? Who has the courage to stand tall and say this lackluster play ends. Who wants the bat with 2 outs, a runner in scoring position and the game on the line? What pitcher is fed up with blown leads and steps up saying give me the rock. Nobody! Instead we hear excuses. This teams best talent appears to be an attitude of defeat and the ability to average. The team plays scared all the time and it is frustrating to listen to. 4 runs in three games. We must have been facing the yankees bullpen. This weeks performances were Rediculous and not in anyway acceptable.
  17. lol... i use the net i'm disappointed with Lubach's bat. I was hoping he'd be a bright spot.
  18. i think they should give him 5 innings... we are in la tech this weekend... where we should win the series. I think work bummer for 5 today, use him sat or sunday if needed and he'll be ready for irvine.
  19. yea.. I do as well.. good to see edrington out there and stringer in the dh hopefully bummer can get us 6 innings and then we go to the bullpen with a 5-6 run lead
  20. Darn... radio said Rich offered at a pitch at the eyes... He's really struggling right now. We need his bat to compliment his defense. also.. pitching change for the bearcats... Darby up with runner on 2nd
