  1. The problem with this team is clearly Martinez. If we had someone like Mertz we would win more
  2. Yeah but if Yant leaves they will lose the ability to jerk off to a big power back that just needs more carries and the coach cant see it.
  3. I feel like this shouldnt even need to be stated but literally every team in the country has stats that are "skewed" by playing a few really bad teams. I get saying we havent done what was needed to win and that makes us a bad team. I'm sure most can agree on that, but the logic of saying take out the worst teams only works if you do that for every team. We played one of if not the toughest schedule of any team this year so saying we just played some bad teams and thats why our stats look better is either a fundamental misunderstanding of comparative stats or not looking at any schedule outside of our own.
  4. Nah man haven't you heard. We have been running the Oregon offense here for 4 years even though it looks completely different, and also that proves that it wont work here.
  5. Yeah, but in the later rounds of the draft you are not going to find any CBs that had even one season of play as well as CTB had. Those rounds are for taking chances and you just aren't gonna find players that played at a high level for 4 years. He was playing at least good enough to go in the 2nd or early 3rd last year if he came out. That doesn't just disappear.
  6. Really? I feel like CTB for sure does and Daniels had a good shot. Maybe not on the first 2 days but someone will take a shot on them.
  7. I wonder what he makes there if we can draw him in with 1.5 mil. Also would need to know if he can mesh with Frost.
  8. Oh nice, yeah it looks like the offense has been solid for a few years now. Do you know who is calling the plays?
  9. I think we could take a look at Warren Ruggiero. I think it would bring in some fresh concepts without having to go too far from what we have as a foundation.
  10. Yeah I definitely see the argument against it. I think best plan of action is to hire the OC and let him have a heavy hand in the picking of position coaches. @Hedley Lamarr I'm assuming that's a joke cuz I feel like he gets a lot of hate, but I wouldnt hate that hire. I dont think he actually wants to seeing how he likes the attention of being on the radio and BTN. I do think he understands and can relate to the kids pretty well though, and we need very technical coaches but I dont know for sure obviously, but I feel like at least some of the offensive struggles are players that dont look comfortable in what they are doing. But again I do get not wanting to hire someone who doesnt have a good amount of experience coaching at a high level at the position we want them for. I think they should be picked with the new OC and if they are ok with it then that is the best way for it to work.
  11. I would be concerned like others about Ahman Green's lack of experience, but if we do land an elite experienced OC they will be able to help along less experienced position coaches. The biggest positive to Green would be that we could maybe start to bring in some of these kids from the metro that we are losing out on every year. I get that some of them just dont want to come here no matter what, but Green should carry some weight around that area. Plus Brown is just around helping anyway right so he would be there to help bring Ahman along.
  12. Well that's definitely the kind of money that can allow us to pull one from a smaller p5 school. I imagine the timeline rules out a failed coach from the NFL since I have a feeling they will want to secure one before signing day. Some kind of wildest dream scenario where Shanahan gets fired from the 49ers and we scoop him up though.
  13. It's not as exciting as a whole new staff but we didn't need to replace defensive coaches. So we basically got some continuity for defense where they are set up to be top half of the conference and if we go out and get a great OC and fix ST we are set up. I like the Baylor OC but idk if that is a big enough splash or if he would even come here.
  14. I havent seen in all of this talk a single name get mentioned that fans would want for RB and Oline coach besides Ron Brown. Does anyone know any good realistic candidates we could look at for those jobs?
  15. Personally I would rather start with a whole new staff and being patient is hard, but one more year of this wont kill the university. If it continues to fail after next year we are just in the same situation we would be this year just delayed and we wont be fighting with LSU, USC, FSU, UF for coaches. If we restart again after next year we just will have to hit the transfer portal hard and hope the momentum of the new staff carries a big wave of recruiting.
  16. Assuming the two being let go are Held and Austin with Mario retiring?
  17. I mean Fleck himself said NU has the more skilled players. If Frost had said something like that it would be a meltdown about him throwing players under the bus. The product we have been putting on the field for a while has been poor and Minnesota has been slightly better. If not for poor camera angles on a replay Frost would still be 2-2 vs Fleck though
  18. Depending what our options are I think that an 8 win coach for a few years that gets the culture back in order then leaves for the NFL doesnt sound too bad. I think he is good offensive coach that can work with what he has. Pair him with a good defense and get the program back on track then hire someone to take it to the next level. I'm not saying he is my first choice but I wouldnt hate it.
  19. O'Brien is a good coach. I really dont get people not liking him. I watched probably 90% of his games in the NFL and he took some terrible QBs to the playoffs, and then switched it up and ran a completely different offense to help Watson along when he was having trouble making reads and the oline was porous. As much as people around here love to read into press conferences, he would do really well at that. The only thing I would worry about was I'm not sure if he likes or is good at recruiting or not. He would need a good DC and some good recruiting positional coaches.
  20. Man, can we start winning again so these posters crawl back in whatever hole they come out of to make a thousand useless threads.
  21. Yeah I guess it's pretty hard to catch games if you are playing on Saturday.
  22. Yeah those people on tiger droppings are delusional of they think any blue blood is dead. Coastal Carolina is ranked. Kentucky was creeping up into the top 10 this year. Anyone can bounce back.
  23. Oh yeah I agree it would be a huge coup to be able to get him. I think realistically we go out and find a rising young coordinator or we get someone like Gus Malzahn to take us back to a solid contender then go get someone more risky next hire with a better base to build on.
