  1. My impression is that the staff want him, but that they're trying to figure out how they can add him. He seemingly got beat out at the position he's used to, so we're trying to see how we can fit him into the puzzle. He might've had the bad luck to just graduate at the wrong year.
  2. I think he was healthy, but from a mental standpoint, I'm bettin he was still in self-protection mode as well. He knows there's nothing behind him and so do the coaches. Though he did run with some additional purpose that 2011, I'm bettin it was all mental. So with the depth we have at QB now, do you think that this changes?
  3. Anyone know the twincities well enough to suggest activities for a date night in the twin cities?

I have a friend who works at Rick's Cabaret. It is a good place to go, the food is good!

  4. Pretty sure I read somewhere that they blast music to get the tempo of the offense going. I imagine a DJ would mess that up. Could be wrong though.
  5. It's messed up that Tyrann Mathieu is considered a better prospect than Rex

What's more messed up is Kiper is still hyping Manti in his draft commercials.

beanman, I think you're right in your assessment. His hip flexibility lacks for man coverage. Technique isn't that good.

Tyrann Mathieu is not a bad person. Cannabis should be legal. Yeah he broke some rules but those rules are pretty ridiculous in my opinion. And if you guys don't think anyone on the Nebraska football team smokes weed then you're an idiot.

  6. I've only spent a few recruiting cycles paying any real attention to recruiting, so forgive me if this is naive. Are we off to a slow start this year, seems as though a lot of other schools that we should arguably be a head of are off to better starts (Northwestern comes to mind). Is this an artifact of our small class size for 2014 (15-20)? If not, any other ideas of what's going on?
  7. Just found out I didn't get two jobs for the fall semester. Next year's going to suck.

  8. I don't know if anyone will notice this, but any updates on school choices? I'm interested in hearing how this saga plays out.
  9. Nice to see you finding the little moments while going through the tough times EZ.
  10. This is really discouraging. Especially the Wisconsin CCG debacle last year. How can we beat a team, and then two months later get blown out by that same team on a neutral field? It was a Cosgrovian effort. It really was. Because the same two teams weren't on the field. People get beat up, coaches change tactics, players develop over the course of the season and life events happen between games.
  11. I could be wrong here, but I think it's tough to judge school talent just by scholarship offers. I'm not an expert by any means, but from what I've read on this board and articles there's also a logical Nebraska bias. Nebraska is a unique state in that there aren't really any pro-sports near by and we've had a very successful history in Football. There's almost literally nothing else in the state that people care about. We're not recruiting against other schools in state, and we're not going to act like Wisconsin and talk about the Packers after a win in an important game. How this plays into scholarship offers etc is that it's going to take a special school and special situation to pull a kid out of Nebraska if we want them. I don't think that there's any secret here. My understanding is that other schools tend to not bother as much. Nebraska then is put into a situation where if there's talent that they want, they can offer a walk on spot instead of a scholarship spot and still get the kid. Furthermore, the recruiting sites aren't going to sell subscriptions based on kids who know where they're going. So why spend much time evaluating the student athletes. So my opinion is this. Nebraska hs football has always been under rated and will continue to be. Nebraska is the main benefactor of this as they're able to take players they want without being contested. We've found starters within Nebraska as long as I can remember and there's no reason for that to change. While our strength + conditioning + coaching help, there also has to be a bit of natural causes that make a good player.
  12. I think there's more of a question to be asked. What teams did we lose to and at what point of the season? This sort of stuff matters.
  13. Can you create a button that plays Benny Hill music with your sig please?

  15. I think this years a tricky year to predict because there are so many unknowns around. There's no way our O isn't completely dominant next year in my opinion. I'm expecting Taylor to do what he did last year and put in serious off season work. I think that with Colin K. out in SF, there's new hope that maybe he could make it pro. I think our O-line gets better. A lot of guys got experience this year, I think with the Juco guys coming in, we can shift Arod to guard where he belongs. Our WR's are going to be fantastic this year, very excited about the group. Additionally, despite what the guy on page one suggested, our RB's are going to be insane, even without Heard. If we can get him to stay all the better. I'm a little concerned about TE, but I'm sure we can get it figured out, just not a ton of experience. D is where things get interesting. We have a lot of talent coming in that got red shirted and Bo's saying he's willing to play more true freshmen. Our LB core gets an immediate upgrade it's a position group that I'm pretty pumped about. Still worried about our line, but I think that we'll have bodies at DT with lots of upside, and that Gregory will be a good fill in for lost talent like Martin. Still concerned about the secondary, I think it's a very inconsistent group. They held their own most of the season but were exposed during the bowl game. Luckily this won't bite us in the rear until the bowl game. All that being said, we're going to have a lot of unknowns on the field next year on D, if they can limit the mental mistakes we're fine. Prediction wise here's what I've got. Wyoming--W Southern Miss--W UCLA--W - The added speed on our side and loss of Franklin for them will be enough for us to win this game. Look forward to sweeps not going for 80 yards each play this year. SDSU--W Illinois--W @ Purdue--W @ Minnesota--W Northwestern--W - they have a lot of returning starters and our well coached, but we're at home and not happy about losing to them last time at home. @ Michigan--W - I'm not sold on Gardner as a QB of the future. They're always going to be talented but I think again our influx of speed will help against the style of football they play. Michigan State--W @ Penn State--W Iowa--W OSU in champ game - L well coached, no obvious flaws and a qb that kills us. I don't see a win against OSU anytime soon with the talent they bring in. Bowl - See us in the rose against Stanford where we lose a close one. Hate to see us keep losing bowls but I think it's a decent outlook
  16. First draft of my dissertation proposal into my committee head. Amazing how productive I am when Husker football isn't going strong.

  17. Nothing but support from me. It's been awesome having this type of insight from you being in your position. Wish nothing but luck for Zach.
  18. Banned. its quite peaceful now isn't it? Seriously? Wow. I was off for a while so I must have missed the controversy. It is peaceful. Yet when there is nobody to say the things he says so we can go after him, there is something missing. Like perma banned? Or do we just get temporary silence? Also @Jarvis, sorry I thought it was funny, but secretly I'm pissed about it too. Pretty sure he would've at least kept us in a game or two we lost this season.
  19. doh, sorry ignore me. Sleep exhaustion. Deleted with shame. So much shame.
  20. I'm not saying Ameer doesn't need to focus on ball security, but keep in mind FOUR of his fumbles were muffed punts. Obviously we can't have those on our team either, but I view that differently than him taking a draw up the middle and a LB stripping him. I think you bring up a really good point. While I think that overall fumbles are important, I'd be curious about how our team ranks in fumbles per touch/running play. Put the behavior in context. For instance, muffed punts are a different skill set then not getting it stripped on a run. Anyone have the down time at work to look into team rankings in fumbles per running play (factoring only fumbles on intended running plays/scrambles)?
