  1. He was bailing on the future of facing Saban, Miles, and Richt without Tebow.
  2. I see your point, but is that any reason to not put the two best teams on the field? The championship wouldn't be any more tainted then any other year where a one loss team has won the title. If LSU wants to be champion, beat em again. End of story. True but it bama wanted the championship they should've beaten LSU at home. This year just didn't work out well for the BCS. It happens. LSU in 07 was a joke. That's just the nature of the game though. It is a faulted system, LSU in 2007 was dumb, the SEC label carried them into that game.... 01 and 07 were screwy years where around seven teams lost as soon as they got #2. It looks like we're having another one of those years, sans Bama who didn't have to play anyone else good after they lost. Of course we'd be having an 07like year if Georgia's WRs knew how to catch.
  3. UMMM your on husker board and didn't even bring up Dr. Tom Come on man He's not coaching right? I included Nebraska since 08.
  4. Jesus does ESPN directly spoon feed you or do you have someone else do it for you? Maurice Clarett himself said he made that stuff up out of frustration. Yes AFTER it was in his interests to work with the school again he told us the school did nothing wrong.
  5. Seriously though has every first tier program* now changed coaches recently? By recent I'll go since 2008, of course. I dunno if 3 years for everyone changing is abnormal. It seemed at one point we had an era of Paterno, Bowden, Brown, Tressel, and Carrol was just never going to end. *And while I was typing it I thought of Stoops and Richt as exceptions. ** And recalled that Saban has been at Bama 5 years. and LSU now counts a 1st tier nothing to see here
  6. Because Maurice Clarett revealed the scandal a decade ago and JT survived by not knowing anything. Then we found out he did know. That was standard operating procedure for an Ohio State University and a constant lack of institutional control.
  7. The funniest part about this is that Michigan is still under probation for cheating. Technically cheating yes. What was the offense: Probation for practice and training violations. Rodriguez failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance with NCAA rules. It can be argued that Rodriguez failed to motivate his players. Rich Rod failed with the same team that went 10 - 2 with Hoke at the helm. I just dont see that the same as other money scandals in CFB. Well the Ohio State thing wasn't really a money scandal. Anyone who owned those items would be able to get that same amount of value from them. The Ohio State scandal was the lie, not the money. I somehow doubt the fans capped their purchases at fair market value, or that any Buckeye could get car deals like that. And yes you do punish the players and fans that had "nothing to do with it", or else you leave the Miamis on probation for 30 years.
  8. If Bulemia could coach him up to not drop the snap it would be great for Dayne. However he is certainly not a running qb and attempts to make him one may have ruined his career.
  9. Could they make a dual rule: no rematches unless the loser won his conference?
  10. Not sure if they [we since I go to law school here] could justify hunting for a coach when we were still controlling our own destiny for the Pac South on Thanksgiving Friday. Yes, if the team that beat Southern Cal could have also beaten any one of the murderer's row of UCLA, Wazzou, UoA, or Cal Berkley, we'd be in the title game. And we do play Oregon kinda well last two tries.
  11. let me first say this, I am not saying Gill can not coach. I am just saying he was over his head in the big12. He did a nice job at Buffalo and I think he can and will again do a nice job at a mid major type school. I just dont think he was ready for the 'big time'. Also, I am not for cutting coaches after two years. However there are times when frankly I dont think there is a bit of difference between doing it after year 2 or 3. When there is no growth in a program you have to cut bait. You can choose to make a move now or wait another year and fall another year behind. I frankly dont think it would have mattered if ku kept him for 5 more years. I would have been five more years of 2-5 wins. Maybe that still happens, but i think there is no doubt it would have under Gill. ku was not losing closely and this was not the wildcat team Snyder took over. That was the worst program in D-1 by a long shot. So bad that even with everything he has done after all these years they are still 100+ games under .500 all time. (474-612-41) KU is no power house, but you can be compititive and fight to make bowls. But as you implied in those "close" games, if ku had won, he would not have been fired. However, looking closer at those games will only add fuel to the fire than led to him being fired. #1 he lost by 28 pts on avg in conference this year even with nearly 1/2 of their games be closer. #2 Mizzou 10-24. Its ku's superbowl. With that said, Franklin threw three straight balls to ku defenders on some REALLY bad throws. Those ints lead to ku's 10 pts. (one returned for a TD, the other lead to a drive that lost yrds but they made a FG). Mu really played pretty poorly, and extreamly poor for an entire half. With that said ku still blew a 7 pt halftime lead and lost by 14 pts. Any decent team would have run MU off the field in the first half. But i was never worried. Why you might ask...well because ku ended with 130 yrds of offence and nearly 50 of that came on their last drive. They could do nothing. NO matter how bad Mizzou played they were going to win. #3 Texas Tech 34-45. Ku roared out to a 20 pt lead. only to have TT score 45 of the next 52 pts in the game. KU added a late TD with a couple of mins left to get it within 2 scores at the final. BTW TT is 2-7 in conference #4 Baylor. 30-31. Baylor is a good team, and possible has the best player in all of college football. KU was primed to shock the world with a big upset. Ku lead 24-3 in the 4th qtr and Baylors only pts had come on a kick at the end of the first half. It was then that with just under 13 mins left in the game that Baylor scored 3 tds to get to OT. Those TD drives were: 5 plays, 89 yrds 1:07, 6 plays, 98 yrds, 1:53 & 3 plays, 80 yrds, 0:35. Ku played their best game of the year and let Baylor go for 267 yards in 14 plays in just 3:35 mins. BTW this remains Baylors only road win for the year. #5 ISU 10-13. Just an overall ugly game. But they were able to keep it close. Nothing really negative about this besides its a loss. Jack Trice can be a tricky place to play and ISU was an up and down team. He didnt really help himself. Even when teams over looked them (Baylor), when teams played really poorly (Mizzou), when they jumped out to huge leads against bad teams (Texas Tech) & when they found themselves in an somewhat even match-up (ISU) they lost every time. Add that to getting completly wiped off the field by 40+ pts four times this year and showing little to no progression and even could be argued regression from last year and you get fired. If they had kept it close. If they had been compititive in games i think he is still there. But he wasnt, so he isnt. If i remember correctly the Bulls had like 4 scoring drives that were under 30 yrds. They had those returns and were giving the ball right outside or in scoring postion another 4 times. You would have to check because its been years, but its just one of the games that you see and dont really forget. (I guess I could always search a boxscore also. LOL) Anyway, IMHO GIll came in a tried to change alot of things; including taking players phones away a few days before games and keeping them until after games. Not allowing contact with girlfriends, getting rid of all individualilty for the players and playing ultra nice (cuss jars). Alot of these players were with a gruff, mean old bastard of a coach and now they had a church choir leader. They had someone who was demanding but treated them like men, now they have someone telling them what to do like they are young children and holding their hands. I am sure that effected the older players. As for the younger players, he played alot of them and out of position at that. Some obviously liked Turner, some chose KU cause they had no other options. It seemed like 1/2 the team really went all out for him and 1/2 went through the motions. But agian, that all comes down on the coach. I watched that game too to see a good team from Indiana. But I'd have wound up paying a bunch into that jar.
  12. this this this, You should be able to trample them without much imagination. When you get up UM will revert to pocket passing, which won't work unless you ignore one WR and allow 3 TDs in the last qtr/
  13. He'd be a perfect fit for us. Bad records, occaisional bowls, cluesless 4th down decision making and still pulls in 5* recruits.
  14. Sorry, I must be missing something... Did you just compare someone who is being investigated for sexual acts with children who were clearly minors and someone who had sex with and later married a teenager who was legally over the age of consent for that state? Obviously Mr. Smarty pants you didn't read the WHOLE STORY. So picking up 16 year old girls, when you are 50, with no FATHER or male support, then getting them emancipated from there mother, all because you are a lawyer and you know the LAW, while the mother thought you were a mentor is ok? But its OK? You are pretty sick!!! Yeah lets go shoot bunnies and Bambi with a grenade launcher because its "Legal" pretty brilliant Watson. So you would condone 12 year old boys getting banged by 50 year old guys if that was legal too? You are the kinda of guy who needs the law to tell you how to act. When I'm 50 I'll have to do everything without Father support.
  15. I think you're in a no win situation. Just finish with more points and then run for the bus.
  16. I'm sure the PA versions of Boss Hog and Sheriff Roscoe really looked under every stone before concluding it was better if Sandusky just resigned.
  17. Paterno will be named in the upcoming civil lawsuits for sure. He has deep pockets and might not live long enough to see them through.
  18. It sounds like he thought his duty was done by reporting it to law enforcement once. I think that ends his criminal law enforcement duty, but civilly he may still be liable to the victims.
  19. That's what I saw too. Eeerily similar to Texas last year, I tuned in for the 4th qtr and could believe NU let NW run out the clock like that. The defense was passive while Persa's backup kept gaining 4 yards and a speck of dust. He should have been hit on every play to force NW to win with the pitch man.
  20. It may cut down on oversigning. Bama can't offer a 1 year when someone else guarantees 4.
  21. If you look at people who win without a lot of highly rated player I'd submit Ferentz and Mike Riley even though they are both down now. Barry Alvarez and now Bulemia did/do well with okay players too. Rick Rodriquez despite the shadyness seems to win provided he has the support of his own school. Harbaugh will eventually get that school behind him. I'd have said BK but his weaknesses are getting unmasked. The other Kelly is of course a fantastic offensive coach.
  22. I turned it on halfway through the 3rd. confirmed good luck for you guys.
