  1. i think NU is a year away, better chance after the team has been in becks system for a year
  2. it sounds like his cousin is a pretty good athlete too, is he playing anywhere?
  3. Comparing Santo's to Lavonte at this point is rediculous. Besides I would argue if Lavonte were to play four years in the B1G he would end up being too small and not be able to contribute. As it stands Lavonte is an amazing athlete that will likely get us through our first go around in the B1G, however we are going to need bigger LB's to withstand the downhill run style of the B1G. "If" and its a big if Santo's can get his weight up to 230-40'ish and still move ok i think he will be alright. However, I am inclined to think he wont be able to bulk up that much at his height 6' which is likely inflated, wont allow him to get that big. He may very well prove me wrong and i hope so, but i just dont see someone at his size at LB lasting real long in the B1G. I think in the next year or two we will go after bigger LB's who will eventually surpass Santos and that is why he will be rendered to mop up duty or special teams. edit: BTW Lavonte came in last year @ 6'1" 215. santos is coming in at 6" 212. the kid can play and hopefully can withstand the beating big 10 football can dish out. bo's D is based on speed. now i am not going off of the peso D because that was something that had to be done because of the people we had. if you look at the teams he has had in lsu and with oklahoma, speed was the name of the game. bo's D won 38-24 against THE ohio state in 2007 for the national championship. you may be right with santos but i hope bo's past will be a sign of what he can do with david. i agree that bo's defense is based on speed and thats great and yea they did beat osu but they also had a long time to get healthy before the game, idk how the speed defense will hold up after playing a full big 10 schedule. i hope your right and the d plays great, but i think it will the trend will be we start out with great defense at the begining of the season but then later on get beat up on and start to fizzle out
  4. nebraska will use green like usc did reggie bush, put him at rb or in the slot as a wr and make the defense worry if they will get burnt by him or bulled over and left crying like little babies after rex trucks them over and walks in for six!!!!
  5. workout and shoot some of them green headed birds out of the sky!
  6. its easy to say that Nebraska should have recruited woodhead, and im sure he was a great player in high school, but there was no way of predicting he would be as good as he turned out, i played with a guy at pitt state named eric love from cozad. anybody remember him, i think he set some state rushing records there, and Nebraska didnt recruit him cuz of his height and he has panned out at pitt
  7. i think it is playing to the strength of our team.we are smaller and faster than alot of teams in the big 10 and we need to utilize our speed because we wont be able to line up and run over teams like wisconsin, penn state, and ohio state
  8. @ junior 4949 i have heard rumors about that kinda thing happening at alot of schools, but in a way thats the problem we are not holding these guys accountable for what is really important and thats their education! these guys could get hurt and their careers could be over before they even really get started, the schools and we as fans need to make sure these guys are ready for life after football
  9. i just dont feel that sorry for the kid, i went to a small high school here in east central kansas. my dream was to play college football period, when i was a senior i signed my letter of intent to play at pittsburg state university. coming from mound city that is a really big deal. when i signed my letter i hadnt taken my act yet. i had a 3.0 but according to the clearing house i still had to score a 21 with a totally comp score of 76, no a measly 18, and so in a way i felt the same pressure that braylon did when i took mine. granted probably not as much cuz i was not going to a school like UNL but i still felt some pressure. but braylon obviously didnt care enough to put forth the effort to probably even study at all. i had a buddy who scored a 19 and he made the bubbles you fill in look like arrows cuz he was hungover and didnt want to be there. so if braylon didnt feel the need to really try his a** off to make it. and honestly even if he did once he got here he would probably be on academic probation and wouldnt get to play or even worse he could play while on probation and then the school would get punished by the ncaa. this is just my opinion but honestly i think he would be more of a headache in the long run
  10. suh is way better. last night the reason fairley got into the back field so much was cuz he was put into one on one situations or that the oregon linemen would mess up their assignment and he would go unblocked. suh never was in one on one situations or went unblocked , he just threw offensive linemen out of the way so fast it looked that way!
  11. yea i think people tend to forget that bo is still pretty new at the head coaching gig and that he inherited a big mess. he is just now getting his recruits here and ready to play, we are as nebraska fans pretty unreallistic with our expectations here. and dont forget how long it to dr.osborne to win a championship here. bo is a very good coach and he will get it done, it just takes a little time.
  12. ok yea to t-mart has fast acceleration right? well bubba played in the under 18 world baseball tournament last summer and had the fastest time ever recorded from the plate to first base, it wouldnt be a stretch at all to say he has even acceleration then t-mart. he has the height to be a prototypical height to be an nfl prospect at qb. and he has thrown for over 300 yards in multiple games at gardner. and his coach said that he cant throw but i no a guy who is friends with bubbas dad and coach deiner is not happy with bubba because he got hurt in the playoffs and gardner lost. i am not saying that i am condoning what bubba said but he honestly has the physical tools right now to come in and maybe out perform what t-mart did. i don't think he will come in and play right away he isnt heavy enough he needs to pack on the pounds, but this kid could be just what nebraska needs. he isnt scared to come in and demand the respect in the huddle, and communicate with his teamates, cuz this kid wont give the impression that he is above the team like t-mart and his dad have
  13. hey how many freshman qbs come in and play well against good defenses? how many come in and play ok? very few, i think the kid will be fine, just takes time
  14. agreed, its not gonna happen so lets just drop it before this becomes a ten page subject about nothing
  15. if t-mart runs for 58 yards and burkhead runs for 88 yards nebraska would have 3 players who have 1,000 yards rushing, idk about anybody else but i think thats pretty sweet!
  16. look at what he did with todd reeseing, imagine what he could do with taylor martinez!
  17. remember what happened last year when had less of an offense and we played a better team in arizona? we killed them, this game is going to be a wash. i think 56-14 sounds more like it. sorry washington and jake locker, your gonna be a mid 2nd rounder after this game. GBR!
  18. if he is only say 75% by game time (which is very unlikely) and they try to start him it would be bad for the team, cuz the game plan would be set up different than if he is definitely out, and we will have another aTm performance where once he goes out the offense does nothing. i hope the players already know what is going to happen with tmart on saturday and they can be prepared and focused come gametime
  19. hey man if you can go its worth it, this will the the last time nebraska ever plays for the big 12 ccg
  20. if murray doesnt play that puts more pressure to get the ball to broyles. without that pass receiving ability out of the backfield a large part of OU's offensive game plan is gone, and if jones tries to force the ball to broyles i see him throwing a couple pics cause prince will lock down broyles and players like haag and gomes will have a hay day in the secondary. either way i think it will be a close hard fought way GBR!
  21. idk why tho, call me crazy but zac lee gives us the best shot at winning if t-mart is out, he manages the game better than green, plus he doesnt have as many decision problem. when the game was on the line against texas he played well, he just got unlucky. and also its senior day so he will want to go out on top as a winner
  22. yea martinez wont have to run much cuz i really think that aTm qb is gonna make lots of costly mistakes and maybe even throw a pick six. the blackshirts defense is too fast and too good for this kid to have a big day
  23. even if we make it to the ccg i'm not sure we beat okie state again, they are a very good team and they have a serious chance at beating us next time around
  24. agreed, we have had trouble stopping the run so far this year, and if mizzou can run the ball effectively against the huskers then their passing game will be that much more dangerous
