  1. Is the payout for the Kraft Fight Hunger bowl a million boxes of mac n' cheese? Some of these bowl names are getting a little ridiculous
  2. After the dry years of Callahan and the north being generally miserable (not a lot of TV) our revenue share actually dropped to the lower half. Regardless of outcome this week I hope you guys wreck UT next week
  3. I'd like to see a good hard fought game where we come out on top of course. Blowouts are boring, I'm so sick of the endless banter about style points. When you're playing a ranked opponent that's on a roll all that matters is having more points at the end.
  4. Mixed feelings here. The conference as a whole is stronger, it's a better fit for the entire athletic department and will be financially better. Change is sometimes good but sometimes it's disastrous too (Callahan). Goodbye to all the old Big 8 teams, close road trips and the chance of ever evening out the lopsided series with UT. I'll miss A&M too since we've had some classic games with your squad and the Aggie fans are great. It's probably not going to sink in for a lot of people until Ohio State comes to town next year that there's no going back.
  5. If we win next week I sorta wonder what we do against CU since the division will be clinched. Maybe a bunch of mildcat giving Rex a chance to pile up some yards?
  6. After seeing some of Boise and TCU's signature wins diminish in value a bit I'm on the fence as to whether they deserve a shot over one loss teams if Oregon or Auburn loses. That one loss team isn't us though because we lost to an awful Texas team at home. I will be perfectly satisfied taking a trip to Phoenix in January!
  7. I don't buy into this thinking at all. There's little to gain besides extra ticket revenue scheduling these FCS teams so we can have an extra home game. It doesn't help our guys at all, Peleni is even on record saying that he would prefer to not have FCS teams scheduled in the future. Wins against non-BCS teams shouldn't even count towards bowl eligibility. It's just sad that when there aren't enough rent-a-teams left in the Sun Belt, WAC etc. FCS teams get slapped on the schedule.
  8. They may go for Florida St @ Maryland. The ACC Atlantic is still very much up for grabs and they haven't done an ACC conference game this year. Although we may have the better game it's not as interesting in the conference championship and BCS bowl picture.
  9. Great win for Northwestern over Iowa today, but Persa ruptured a tendon after jumping to celebrate the game winning TD pass and is out for the season.
  10. The AQ's are not entirely based on competitive value. Bowls are all about $ and promotion. So if you take away the Big East from a BCS bid for instance, there goes a huge TV market. I started reading up on it after seeing that the Big East will champion will likely be headed to the Fiesta bowl and that's really the only reason they still have an AQ.
  11. Sounds good to me. Let's start with the 4 year degree requirement. Then add on a literacy test (I know people with a bachelors who are functionally illiterate). If you can't read obviously you shouldn't vote. Then let's add on a poll tax of $500 or so. Put your money where you vote is. Then let's add on a land ownership requirement. Obviously if you don't own land you don't have a vested interest in government representation. Then let's add on a naturalization requirement of 40 years. Reach back and take away the vote from all those illegals Reagan gave amnesty to. Then let's get rid of government panhandlers. Recipients of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, welfare, food stamps, farm subsidies, government employees, government contractors etc. Panhandlers will always vote for more handouts. Then let's get rid of the nineteenth amendment. This country pretty much went strait down the tubes when the womenfolk started voting. Get back to the kitchen! Now I think we can start to have a vote that represents the voice of the real America.

    B10 Fit

The B10 wasn't exempt from the changes in college football. Ohio and Penn run more pro style offenses now. Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois all run some variation of a spread offense. Northwestern doesn't even pretend to have a run game outside their QB and yet they are competitive in every conference game. Iowa and Wisconsin are more balanced than they have been in the past and won't hesitate to pass. I think that the Peleni's have been leaders in trying to come up with schemes that can slow down the spread offenses that threaten the house every play. That's the biggest question mark in college football, not smash mouth 5 yard runs. The problem this year is that when our offense either goes 3 and out or scores on the first position it leaves the defense out there a lot longer. So I think we clearly need as much depth as possible to keep fresh bodies on the field not necessarily more size. If Crick comes back next year we will be fine up front and the linebacker situation seems to be improving too.
  13. Haha, for that matter the sideline cameras seem to pan to him every time he's picking his nose too. The difference between Peleni anger and Callahan anger is that the Peleni's seem to be only angry at the actions of players. Callahan would get angry at the players, often to the point of dehumanizing them.
  14. CU, Michigan and Notre Dame are like the black hole of coaching. It's beyond me why people are still willing to ruin their careers trying to turn those programs around. Then again you probably could have said the same thing about Nebraska after the Callahan train wreck.
  15. I believe the Big East BCS bid rotates between the Fiesta, Orange and Sugar Bowl. Last year Cincinnati played in the Sugar and the year before in the Orange so...correct me if I'm wrong. If Pitt wins out they will be ranked at the end of the season and a good team to play but there's some weird possibilities this year. Stanford could be locked out of the Rose Bowl in favor of Boise or TCU if Auburn wins out. A 1 loss LSU could be locked out of any BCS bowl if Auburn loses one (and goes to Sugar). Either of those scenarios are going to upset a lot of people and more so with a Big East team still getting their AQ.
  16. The only outlier game OSU has had all season was K-State. Other than that their offense is arguably on par with Oregon's and their defense sucks. I'd like to play OSU again. With extra practice I don't see how it's possible they could drop another 40 bomb. Then again once you start thinking something can't happen it usually does.
  17. When does the BCS do a conference review to determine whether the Big East retains their automatic BCS bid? Even with Utah leaving the MWC, you gota figure with Boise joining next year and Nevada the year after they will be a far better football conference than the Big East. Oh well, we gota get to the Fiesta Bowl before complaining about our opponent
  18. 3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either: * A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or, * B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls. ----------------- I don't see how the Big East gets in there without a ranked team... Here's what I think: NCG - Oregon vs. TCU, both undefeated Orange - ACC champ vs. at large, no other ACC teams close to BCS bowl Sugar - 1 loss Auburn vs. at large, LSU still high in the at large Rose - Stanford vs. Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan State both still high in at large Fiesta - Big 12 champ (hopefully us) vs. at large, no other Big 12 team high in at large So that leaves Boise, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan State as high at large teams. In my perfect BCS bowl outcome it would be: NCG - Oregon vs. TCU (should be an awesome game) Orange - ACC champ (no idea who wins that) vs. LSU Sugar - Auburn vs. Boise Rose - Stanford vs. Wisconsin Fiesta - Nebraska vs. Michigan State (they have a better shot at winning out than OSU) Isn't there any scenario where the Big East is so bad that other teams bump them off?
  19. I thought your QB playing with a gimpy ankle while ours sat on the sideline was symbolic of the attitudes out there today. We played not to lose and you played to win. And it literally ended with that when you went for the win and we happened to have a guy in position to make a play and not lose. Best of luck next two games, you guys deserve to go to a bowl.
  20. A fun as Nebraska & OU in the last CCG would be, OSU is going to win the south and that's the best matchup for us if it comes to that. We can improve our defense more for round two than they can methinks.
  21. We need T-Mart. I see why we don't blitz very often, every one was picked up perfectly by the ISU line. We don't seem to have any beastly inside pass rushers. Rhoads has balls. Seeing Texas absolutely melt down at K-State has made me forget about this game really quick.
  22. krill

    Wow!

I don't care what anyone says, that was an exciting football game. One ISU is a good team that showed up to play and two we came through in the end when it mattered. Gota give respect to Rhoads for having the balls for that conversion attempt too.
  23. The main reason our conference bowl bid was moved from the orange to fiesta bowl is that it's really, really hard to throw a tortilla chip from the stands onto the field. An orange not so much.
