  1. Alabama might edge out Clemson in next weeks rankings. Alabama plays Miss State who is ranked #17, even though they have no signature wins and 2 losses, one being to an UR and awful A&M team. Clemson doesn't play an SEC team this week, they play 3-6 Syracuse.
  2. B/C it helps justify the SEC top dogs high rankings as the committee looks at wins vs other top 25 teams in the CFP rankings. A&M and Miss State have no signature wins or even good wins. SEC is set up to get 2 teams in. LSU/Bama/Miss - two of those teams are pretty much guaranteed to be top 7/8.

    Lol Michigan

I was thinking the same thing. Get your fastest guy behind shot gun, snap, let him run for 4-5 seconds and when a defender is within 10 yards heave the ball as high as possible out bounds which I assume will eat up the remaining time.
  4. I never understand why these coaches don't hang it up at 60-65. I mean Spurrier has been averaging good 7 figures for the last 20-30 years and he's got to be beyond financially secure. Why not enjoy retirement while you can? He's 70 and probably only got 5 more years of golf in him.
  5. Should be interesting offseason as USC, Illinois, Maryland and I am sure some other P5 schools will have coaching changes. Any predictions - Auburn, SCar, VT, Miami?
  6. Any reason Maryland year in and year out can't field a team better than 1/2 of the B1G? They are in a decent recruiting area and have somewhat of a football past. The right coach and no reason they can't be an 8+ win team annually.
  7. Pat Fitzgerald Mark Richt Bret Bielema Bob Stoops Tom Herman
  8. Uhh, what? are we now sucking off that same teat????? I am fairly certain Nebraska makes money for the B1G and is dedicated to football but the last coaching hire is something you see from the likes of Illinois & Purdue
  9. Just look at Alabama from Bear to Saban. Aside from a title in 1992 and a couple other good seasons (but were later busted for cheating), Alabama wallowed in poor coaching hires. That is 30-something years. Nebraska needs to can Riley and get it's next coaching hire right.
  10. Any chance he is gone after this year or is he too nice of a guy? I see 5 wins (2 current plus Minn, Rutgers & Purdue). What if he only gets to 3 or 4?
  11. Never been and no desire to go. Just seems like glorified MAC experience in a crap stadium. Just seems like UI doesn't want to make any investment in coaching facilities etc and want to suck off the B1G teat. I am sure they will go cheap on their next coaching hire.
  12. Getting the right coach is at least 50% in making of a great program (recruiting, changing attitudes/expectations, game coach, etc). Either spend the money and get a known quantity like Alabama, OSU, Mich did or take a risk on an up and comer like Tom Herman at Houston or like OU did with Stoops. Getting a re-tread in Riley is not what a program like Nebraska should strive for. He would have been a decent hire for a program like Illinois, Pitt, Kansas - not a blue blood like Nebraska. Nebraska better get their next coaching right.
  13. Not sure if this will work but
  14. I actually don't mind Texas for some reason but how does one of the richest programs with great recruiting opportunities only have a handful of top 5 finishes in the last 30-40 years?
  15. FWIW I noticed a big difference in Michigan in game 1 vs Utah. Defense played tough and looked a bit more athletic. Running game was solid. Their QB did them no favors in that game and could have beat Utah. As a Buckeye fan, the Michigan game worries more than the MSU game at this point.
  16. I don't that ^^^ is Nick's daughter.
  17. This weekend is a snoozer. At least put a game or two on Thursday when nuttin else on
  18. I used to listen to Bill King on XM. He was great. I remember him always saying it comes down to getting the right coach. It took Bama 30+ years between Bear and Saban with many disasters in between. I guess Stallings had a title but that program was terribly dirty and he was gone shortly. Tennessee is struggling since Fulmer (3 head coaches). USC, OU in the 90s, Mich. Nebraska needs to find that coach that will restore things. It is not the B1G change it is the coaching debacles. I don't think Riley is your answer. Is he really going to do dramatically better at NU than at Oregon State?
  19. Some big games for mid-level teams and being bowl eligible down the road. Illinois @ North Carolina S Florida @ Maryland UNLV @ Michigan Air Force @ Michigan St Kent St @ Minnesota Northwestern @ Duke Nebraska @ Miami N Illinois @ Ohio St Va Tech @ Purdue Troy @ Wisconson W Kentucky @ Indiana Rutgers @ Penn St Pitt @ Iowa
  20. Good stuff. Do you want to make a conference so tough for football that the average to good teams (not the historically great teams) will never sniff a conference champ or the playoffs and all you win is the ESPN toughest conference trophy? I bet several solid teams like Tenn, Ark, SCar will never win the SEC or make the playoffs in my lifetime. But I guess they get a cookie for being in the toughest conference.
  21. I remember Colin Cowherd addressing ESPN pimping the SEC (it's on youtube somewhere) and he basically said why would ESPN show preference to the SEC when the SEC fan base is spread out over a most rural area. So what makes better business sense - backing a conference in a mostly rural (and some would say poorer area of the country) but a region dedicated to following CFB or the B1G with large national alumni bases, likely wealthier alumni and fan bases and cover a more populated region with many large metro areas although those metro areas share followings with pro sports, arts cultural, etc?
  22. Just thinking Texas has to be chomping at the bit to change conferences given their fall off in fan support and A&M's rise in stature in the SEC. Yes, the state of program has something to do with it but their donors, season ticket holders cannot continue to get excited over home games with Okie State, Tech, K State, and I am sure over time TCU & Baylor will lose their shine. Just fired their AD. Wonder if more changes are coming as in exploring a new conference. Also thinking that with how deep the SEC is and has really been controlled by Bama and LSU the last 10 years there are a few teams that are thinking they will never have a chance to get on top in the SEC. Teams like Tenn & Arkansas where expectations are high but might never win an SEC title in the next 20-30 years. Would they ever consider leaving the SEC?
  23. Creed

    Big12 Expansion?

You'd think the Texas fans would be pushing hard (and some apparently are on Shaggy site) to change conferences given the state of their program, their rival A&M doing well in the SEC and their pretty boring home schedule. Aside from OU, do they have any true peers in that conference?
  24. Texas looked very unprepared and unmotivated against ND. If things don't improve by the end of the year, Strong could be sacked. I think the firing of Paterson might deflect any outcry, especially racism concerns, if they fire Strong only after 2 seasons.
