  1. We have decent depth if Heard and Green are as good as advertised. I'm sorry but Austin Jones is nothing more then a 4th string Running Back and Ward/Okafor are roster fillers. If Jones was worthy of playing time he would have seen the field more in '09. Down to Burkhead and 2 frosh, one whose elegibility still has some questions. Bad news, leaves us really thin at RB.
  2. What the hell is going on here? First of all Texas State will be joining the WAC in 2012 I believe, not sure but I think I heard something to that effect. So Bo is pushing Wats out without firing him just like what happened with Eck. I can believe that but at what point does NU give up the charade? It is one thing to be interviewing at BCS schools, but we're talking about MAC schools and to be WAC schools now. If Wats is gone NU needs to be filling out the rest of the coaching staff. If Bo wants to keep Wats the way Wats is looking at any DI school with an opening has to be perceived as a lack of loyality. I am tired of the game that seems to be going on here.
  3. Not to put down Jamal Turner. I put the over/under at 3 for WR's on the NU QB depth chart next year.
  4. I think it would be a real benefit to have the QB coach on the field, especially with the young QB's at NU. It would take some tricky staff shuffling to do so, but it could be done. At least Bo would have someone else on the sideline to yell at the QB.
  5. I agree. So many mental mistakes on the offensive side of the ball. Where is the accountability that the defensive side of the ball has? When Ricky Thenarse consistently misses tackles Austin Cassidy comes in, next man up. When Sirles jumps off-sides 3 times, when Niles Paul fumbles/drops the ball there is no accountability. That is the biggest thing I see that needs change and it dosen't seem that hard to fix.
  6. Considering the way Bo pampers recruits. I am sure that's the reason for keeping the coaching staff together.
  7. Bo is here as long a Tom is, but how long will Tom be here? A new AD, a ugly 2nd half of a season, and one side of the ball looking ugly. Not much different than when Solich got fired. Bo has to step it up. He needs to be a head coach and not a D cordinator.
  8. Thanks for checking your facts you have good points. I'm out, thanks for all your opinions.
  9. I will begin freak out mode if NU loses Jackson. I think he's a gem.
  10. I am confident the OL will be better. I see T-Mart's off-season development as the key to the offense. He is a very talented QB, but can he take it to the next level or is he the primadona people talk about. If T-Mart kicks things up a notch NU should be beter. If he takes a step backwards the wheels could come off.
  11. I think it could work, but who could coach it? Dont say Tom.
  12. Thank you! Cotton sucks! Should not be here in the first place. I appreciate your opinions on Cotton, but blame the poor play of the OL on talent. Not sayin I'm right guess I'm just trying to defend my position. Not expecting much help.
  13. Saban at Alabama, Meyer at Florida. It get your point, but the end of this season feels like a step backward.
  14. I think the NU offense is trying to become a power spread offense. Similar to what Florida ran with Tebow. Problem is without Tebow it starts to look like LSU's offense.
  15. The offense was terrible in the second half of the season. The offense should be better at the end of the season, all units should be. This season has been a big disappointment. It was Bo's 3rd year, the 3rd year is when a great coach turns the corner and wins championships. I love Bo. If Bo keeps the staff together and continues to get these results Bo may not get a chance to change the staff. Bo could be fired himself. So here are my evaluations. Watson has been a terrible play caller. He may have been handcuffed by Bo, but it was Watson who recruited Cody Green and to a lesser extent Zac Lee. I dont think he had much to do with recruiting T-Mart, but my point is he chose these QB's and he needs to take responsibility if they miss. He has reconstructed the offense in the middle of '09 at Bo's request and again to begin '10. So in fairness this has been his first season running a new offense. I believe he is a good coach, but it's not like he can be demoted. It would be a risk for Bo to think Watson could turn this offense around. Gilmore is a bum. This guy does little for our recruiting. He turns a talent like Niles Paul into a punch line. Kinnie has produced, but as a JUCO how much credit can Gilmore get for that? Guys like Guillen, Cooper, and Enuwa who show promise in practice or games are unable to see the field. Chris Brooks can't get on the field at NU, but get hard looks from the NFL. I will stop ranting now. Barney Cotton is OK in my opinion. I am frustrated with the sacks. I think the run game really improved this year. In Cotton's defense I will point out the talent level of the '10 OL. Caputo was a walk-on. Sirles is a 3-star RS-FR. Ricky Henry is a 3-star JUCO. DJ a 3-star. Keith Williams a 4-star. The OL depth was pretty thin when Barney showed up, and I expect the OL to improve as guys like A-Rod get into the mix. Ron Brown bleeds husker red, gotta love this guy. He is an asset to recruiting efforts. It would be hard to get rid of this guy. Tim Beck should be the OC next year right. He seems to be a bright young mind. He is a great recruiter. He has no OC experience, and has never called plays at the college level. There is not much more he can do for himself as a position coach, and one would think he will get a chance to be a OC somewhere if that is his desire. I dont know if he should be OC, but it would suck to lose him. So what does Bo do? What would Tom do? I believe Tom is tutoring Bo, and will have a hand in this. I dont think Tom ever fired a coach. It eventually turned out OK for him, but Tom's AD through much of that tough time was Devany. Bo will be HC as long as Tom is AD, but how long is that? We all know how a 9-3 coach can be fired by a new AD. Im ranting again. What should be done? Promote Tim Beck and bring some young coaches into the mix? Give the reins of the offense to a new OC who will change the system? Stick with everyone on the staff and give them year 2 to develop their system? Im sorry if I am too long. Please no mention of names for new offensive coaches, they have all been stated in previous threads. I would like to hear opinions of the current coaches.
  16. I am now quite happy with the start time of the Holiday Bowl. Hopefully no one was watching.
  17. If anyone is hoping for a big name it wont happen. I will give 2 reasons why. 1. money. NU wont pay out the big bucks for the head coach, they wont for an OC. 2. trust. Does anyone see Bo handing complete control of the offense to an outsider? There are no obivious connections to Bo at OC so the position would be fill from within and further build on the direction the offense took this year. If a change happens Beck will be OC. Becks may take over QB coaching duties he may stay at RB. The coaching positions to be filled will probably be filled with young guys who impress Bo. That's the way it should be.
  18. Lets hope he can get out to San Diego this week. I feel good about where we're at with Peat.
  19. It is a cycle. Benefits to recruits were common place in the 80's and the NCAA cracked down on a lot of schools in the SWC and SEC and it cleaned things up. Eventually the NCAA will have to crack down again because if they just slap their hand more schools are going to push the limits.
  20. I was sooo nervous waiting for this page to load. Great news, I am very happy for Braylon Heard.
  21. Does this reflect poorly on OSU coach Luke Fickell and give Watson the inside track to the Miami, OH job? It is Christmas.
  22. Tim Beck will be the OC if Watson leaves. I would like to know who the QB coach would be. I like the idea of having a QB coach on the sidelines. Gerry Gdowski.
  23. What ever Wayne Lyons decides I have become more impressed with this young man with the more that I learn about him. He seems to be a very intelligent, very confident , very grounded athlete. He has done everything the right way throughout the recruiting process. He has kept his options open while narrowing things down during the process which had to be difficult while dealing with an injury. I agree his choices seem to come down to academics, football, or family. Where ever he goes I have become a fan of Wayne Lyons.
