  1. Very, very, very poor taste, my friend. Let's not go there. Ok, bad joke I'll admit on my part. But for those of us on the board that are old enough to know the Sal deal, know exactly how big of a part of this rivalry's history it was. Proud or not it was a big thing then.
  2. Bump it up. A day of family and in-laws tommorrow. I gotta and am getting mine.
  3. Two little words drove *me* away. Blue. and Waffle. HAHA!!! Breakfast is served
  4. Sorry killer got to do it. South Carolina -3 @ Clemson. Lock it in!! The ball coach has them peaking at a good time and Latimore is a friggin stud. Also like the Bama pick and LSU getting 31/2 on the road.
  5. have to agree with bballbacker. Wats needs to take the handcuffs off for Cody and call plays that he will excell at. Cody throws pretty well on deeper routes than the quicker timing routes it seems. Let him open the field off of play action and even loosen up sCUm's secondary by going deep. I also think the zone read will only be ran out of the Wildcat, if anything Cody only runs on scrambles and a QB draw or two. Again this all is predicated on if Watson goes butt tight and keeps the cuffs on Cody and the offense or sprouts a pair and let's him attack the Buffs. Hell I think he let Cody do more in his first start against Baylor then he does now. I think Cody will do well in a game plan that caters to him more than trying the TMart game plan.
  6. Throw me in with ESPY and knapplc. The Halloween Massacre of '92 was awesome. Night game, big time hype, coming off that crappy 19-19 tie the year before, hadn't beaten them since '88, and then the ass kicking commenced. Watched the game in Ft. Collins and the next morning the headline read NIGHT OF THE LIVING RED, that was a classic. The great moments listed above are also most of my fondest. The other ones that stick out for me are the 2007 game where two college kids played the game on Playstation obviously with the numbers that were put up in the 65-51 loss. This cemented Clownahan's fate and the fate of the retarded idea of wearing all white uniforms. My other memory is the 1990 game. It was my first with my dad. It was pouring rain. Guys were hydroplaning down the astroturf(yes a Necessary Roughness reference) and everything was soaked. NU is up 12 nothing going to the fourth and then Eric friggin Bienemy and Darian friggin Hagan go ape and sCUm runs off 27 unanswered. It really sticks to me cause my dad told his 10 year old son he was sorry about the game. Something he couldn't control, but thought it ruined my first Memorial Stadium experience. Never will forget that.
  7. Section 1 Row 17 Taking my old man, leaving the wife and G'ma to watch the hellions. HAHA
  8. Not to rain on your thunder there Bruin, but Crabtree said Adrian Peterson was the only better high school player. He did argue that he's the best high school player in Kansas. As far as Boras, it was announced a while ago that he signed him as an advisor to help Bubba through the process heading into the draft. It is basically saying Boras will be his agant, but he won't sign with him and screw with any of his amateurship. And the chance is sitting at about .0034% realistically.
  9. I am in the it's a little of both camp. I have been open in my criticism of Barney since the hiring. Didn't like the move one bit. In fact buddies in Ames called to thank me for bringing him back because of the "joke" of a coach he is. There really is no excuse for him much more. This team should be struggling with pass pro before run blocking if anything. Pass blocking is all about reaction to the defender whereas run blocking you are the aggressor. This still baffles me. Another thing is that obviously Barney isn't developing the depth that he said we had. Once in a blue moon ARod gets in but where has Qvuale been? There hasn't been a whole lot of rotation like he said he'd do this summer. Secondly I have said before that the talent up front still isn't that good yet. Ricky Henry would be the only player in the two deep right now that would've sniffed the two-deep back in the PipeLine days. Yoshi is inconsistant and relies on his size most of the time. Shirles is young and still has a chance. The Joneses are slow and also try to rely on their size(yes I know Marcel has been hurt, and I actually liked what he did at times last year on the field), Caputo is undersized but at least has heart, and Williams is just a huge enigma as you never know which Keith you'll get. With recruiting classes like this one coming in I can't see this to being a prolonged issue. Now whatever Barney(if he's fortunate enough to get the chance) or anyone else does with these kids will be the question.
  10. Ryan will be on NET at 7 as his Crete Cradinals play Elkhorn for the Class B title.
  11. A number of those early runs were up the middle. I never saw him have to shake anyone in the open field because by then he's past them. You don't see a QB having to juke a guy very often. I'd put more emphasis on breakaway speed than those quick cuts when it comes to the zone-read. It's usually just one move then straight north south. The zone read just doesn't seem to get outside very often. But as it was seen in the Texas game and in the Okie State game to an extent, a healthy Taylor COULDN'T make one guy miss that extends the play and helps get him into the open field to accelerate even more. Taylor seemed to be negated toa degree as better quicker defenses showed up on Saturday. Yet, if he makes the first guy miss in a bunch of instances in those two games he is pushing Dennard Robinson type rushing numbers. Yeah, I know he went for a hundred against the Pokies but the damage could've been worse, and the Texas game is was pretty self explanitory. The Shake and Bake only makes that runner so much more dangerous, like I said earlier not bashing Taylor but he'd be that much more dangerous. Like Crouch was. Had the burst and the shake.
  12. Really? Weren't we saying the same thing this summer about how good we should be this fall with the addition of Mike McN to the group. Enunwa has gone the Niles Paul route and should've redshirted. SJB may be turning heads but still has a long ways to go on the mental side of the game(sping ball should help him), we had KHiry and Curenski this fall and everytime they entered a game this year it seems we blew a TO or they are getting ripped after the one play they are in. They already had a year in and contributed yet regressed severely this year. Gilmore kills this group more than anything. Are you telling me there isn't a package of 10-15 plays where some of these guys excell at and get on the field instead of riding the pine because they don't know 1000 plays or struggle blocking in practice every other week. Numerous other teams manage to get skilled players on the field no matter how basic the package. A lot of this can be attributed to Wats as well, but he isn't going to run any of these plays when Gilmore refuses to give any of them a chance. I just love the ritual on Saturday when Bo chews Ted an a-hole for about 5 minutes.
  13. I'm not sure how prestige is measured when it comes to these things, but I think the Under Armour game is a notch or two below the Army All-American game IMO. The UA game has only been around for a few years. It was created more as a "marketing" initiative by UA - and to have an all-star game in Florida. It has ESPN as a broadcast partner which is one of the reasons why the ESPN rankings are so messed up...they are partially based on the UA participation. Also, it seems like more of your prima-donna recruits end up there...so they can play in the skills competition and other crap that is televised. Personally, I like the Army AA game better...it's about the game, the bands, our soldiers, etc. The UA game is about the individuals and marketing Under Armour. Should have been a little more specific but I was replying about Jamal and his choices of the UA game vs the O/D game. Of the two the UA game is way bigger. Hell I didn't even know there was an Offense/Defense Game until it was announced thhat Jamal had been selected. As far as the Army AA game, there definitely is no question about the prestige factor compared to all other games. This is the ELITE game for seniors.
  14. what is the NSAA? Well sir that would be the Nebraska State Activities Associatio. Obcious it was a typo on my part. Shoot me I am HUMAN
  15. he doesnt have an account Then why was it so reported stuff that he wrote on it. Like telling the refs from Saturday that they suck, and the reported TMart is all good and what not post on Sunday. All of this was from this board and other boards so I think it is out there. Someone step up to the plate.
  16. On a sidenote, the Ray Guy Award votes on finalists tomorrow(Tuesday). Betting Alex gets the shaft on this one too.
  17. Alright one of our HuskerBoard facebook "stalkers" should ask him on his wall what he was flagged for. I know someone out there is a "friend" of his and I know the wall exist as it was a piece of evidence in the Taylor Gate Meltdown. Come on I know you're out there do us all a favor and ask. Just remember in wording the question to ask if the official told him what he did supposedly.
  18. The reason that I am stoked for Jamal? The shake and bake. The kid will bring that to the QB table that the current roster QBs lack(unknown about Brion). Even still I personally think Jamal's open field moves are far superior that Brion's. Think about Taylor for a sec. His long runs are based on his straightline speed to get outside. In traffic he has no moves and we all know with his ankle there is no moves for him. It was obvious though prior to the injury Taylor can't shake a defender in the open field that has the angle on him. Watch Jamal's highlights, he has that Eric Crouchesque open field shake ability that left so many defenders grasping at air watching him roll on down the field. This isn't a Taylor bash post, but just pointing out one of Jamal's greatest assets.
  19. Lee practiced splitting reps with Kellogg according to Sip. And if the game was tomorrow Kellogg would be the number two QB more likely than not.
  20. I am almost wondering if there wasn't some jawing going on after either of the plays in question and a shove might have been involved. This happens every game and Eric has a tendency to where his heart on his sleeve and let those around him know it. I honestly could see this being the case on one if not both of the calls. Hell the second one was probably the same guy getting punked on the first instance and goadded EMart to do something stupid. This is a scenario that could've possibly occurred and honestly it wouldn't suprise me at all if it did. Talking excessive crap will get ya 15 but normally Unsportsmanlike, however if it did go to shoves a personal foul would be the call. One thing is for certain, the official did a pisspoor(suprise, suprise) of declaring the call. Big Shock
  21. Don't get me wrong. Kellogg had all the lookings of a very good QB in high school, but I am really dumbfounded almost that he goes from scout to number 2. All the while a guy that has traveled to every road game this year isn't sniffing the field. I know it can't be because he throws bad because if that was the case he fits perfectly into Wats' system. Pretty sure LtW is a better runner than Kellogg as he was a very good option QB in Florida where Ron was much more of a passer and hand it offer. Just a little tough to wrap my finger on.
  22. Have not heard a thing about any injury, but his team did lose in the semi-finals. However in his last football game in Kansas he went ape again. 31 carries 396 yards and 5 scores. Took the first play of the game 79 yards untouched and added a 70 yard run later. Not that shabby of a way to go out in a losing game.
  23. Dennard has been doing it all year long as well. Teams won't throw at Prince so they've quickly discovered that the other guy is pretty damn good too. He leads the team in picks. Remember when Blackmon was getting the better of Prince, Dennard moved over on him and didn't do squat until he got matched up with Hagg for the late TD. Cassidy and Osborne whould actually be the guys that get the recently playing awesome props.
  24. So according to Sipple Ron Kellogg took reps at #2 QB with Zac Lee. Whatever. My questionis what the hell happened to LaTravis. The guy looked decent in the spring game if I recall right? Feel bad for the guy, nothing but a team player, but maybe should've never left the LB corp. Hell the guy is on special teams even. I am just curious how the kid who shot down an Ohio State scholly to come here, never will make a significant impact on either side of the ball. Insiders with other opinions, what went wrong here?
