  1. A win is always good, especially when it is a blowout, but the fact is this was against Northern Illinois, a team whose only win this season was over Illinois State and was blown out by Utah last week. NIU stinks at running the ball, Utah held them to 2.7 yd/rush and IS held them to 2.6 yd/rush. Liked the explosiveness that showed up at times. Defense looks good most of the time. Only one turnover NIU had the ball nearly two times as much as Nebraska did even with their incompetent running game. Against opponents the quality of Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa, this could be a huge issue as the defense is left on the field all game. The Offensive line is still a work in progress, which is the result of the Riley years, will be another two years to get that cleaned up and have depth. Vedral looked good at the end of the game, nice having depth at the QB position unlike last season. Illinois should be a better test even though they will likely end up in last place.
  2. Yes, watching the game right now on Fox Business, Iowa vs Iowa State was delayed which forced the move.
  3. We have more talent than Maryland, yet they are scoring like I expected us to be (or close to it). What is the problem? Is it mental? I can't believe that our O-Line is worse than Marylands by that much. I can't believe that our coaching is worse. If we had played South Alabama or Colorado at the end of last season we would have scored over 50 on them and it wouldn't have even been close. Seems like the players (especially Martinez) are putting too much pressure on themselves. Hope the loss wakes them up.
  4. There is some concern, this team does not look like the team that ended last season (last six games). I don't know if it is the loss of the seniors last year, the opponents coaches finding holes in our game plan and our coaches not having adjusted for them or the team is just putting too much pressure on themselves to have a second season like Frost did at UCF. My guess is it may be all of it. Hopefully things get turned around now that we have our first loss and there is no need to try to exceed the 2nd year UCF expectations. They need to get back to having fun and right now, they don't look like they are having any.
  5. I wonder if anyone has noticed it or not but at the end of last season, the kids were having fun, they do not look like they are out there having fun to me. Perhaps they have simply put far too much pressure on themselves to beat the expectations (like UCF year two type expectations) and that is a huge part of it. They need to get back to just playing and having fun and hope the coaches pull their heads out.
  6. First half looked good, not great, even though we were ahead 17 - 0, should have been at least 24 - 0. Colorado made adjustments and pwnd our coaching staff, that truly was the difference, we were unable to match their adjustments with our own. What I don't get is how we end last season 4 - 2, almost beating both Ohio State and Iowa which would have been 6 - 0, to this garbage? Did losing players to graduation really result in our talent taking a nose dive? Did the coaching staff all get replaced by Mike Riley and co.? By the end of last season, we would have blown the s#!t out of Colorado; this doesn't even resemble that team in the least bit.
  7. Passing game is tearing their D to shreds.
  8. Would rather see him run on plays where there is nothing open or a designed option play, not running it up the middle that much.
  9. Basically three missed tackles on that play, looks like he stepped out after the first miss.
  10. Here's what needs to happen to Callier:
  11. Georgia State still running that triple option?
  12. 7 - 5 seems a bit high for my pick, hope I'm wrong. Negatives: 1. The offense after the first series. 2. Turnovers. Positives: 1. Defense forcing turnovers and scoring. 2. Special teams (other than the fumbled return). 3. We didn't show Colorado anything on offense, hope that was by design.
  13. Could be due to the level of competition faced, highest ranked opponent on their schedule is 45th in the state I believe.
  14. Would rather have been outside the top 25, that way when we end the season #1, will look all the more impressive.
  15. Or, Frost never leaves Nebraska in the first place, never goes and learns from Chip Kelly and possibly doesn't become the coach he is today. So many variables, so hard to predict what could have been, just would have been nice to not have seen Callahan and Riley years.
