  1. Coach T has done a great job. We have solid depth at DL and I hope we use more 4 man fronts this season
  2. Now that Porter is out for the year NW basically has lost their entire team from last year. Back up RBs transferred, good DE transferred, DC retired, QB graduated along with best WR and two very productive LBs...they have a stud DB and that is about it now.
  3. Nicked up could mean missing the Illinois game...I don't like that
  4. check the OP....I knew there was something here and people said there wasn't... https://www.sltrib.com/sports/byu-cougars/2021/08/12/byu-football-walk-ons/
  5. For now...I think he will pass one or both of them shortly
  6. Ervin Morrison Stepp Scott Yant Johnson This seems to currently be the order BUT I think many of these guys will get carries the first 3 games and we will see it all shake out. Ervin has potential but makes me a little nervous if he starts game 1 against Illinois. But also no one on the roster has done anything at Nebraska yet so it doesn't matter as much. If it was me today I think it should be Stepp, Morrison and Yant for this season. Maybe Ervin will surprise me more than I think since his HS highlights he is very balanced runner and has no real weaknesses as a rb.
  7. He's a way better version of Tanner Farmer...he will be a great DL for us because he is already the strongest on the team probably and has great leverage from being a wrestler.
  8. I still wish Nash went to the OL as he would for sure start at OG this season. He can still be a great DL for us, but I felt we could have used him more on offense.
  9. Fully agree. If we can manage to get 7 wins with how many kids will return the next two years we should be in good shape going forward.
  10. That's why the post stated the numbers are skewed due to the free year, but again all teams are like this. End of the day that's a lot of freshmen
  11. *includes redshirt and free covid year which skews the numbers some, but it is like this for all schools Offense Freshmen: 10 Sophomores: 2 Juniors: 8 Seniors: 2 Defense Freshmen: 6 Sophomores: 6 Juniors: 6 Seniors: 4 Offense for 22' can virtually look the same besides the loss of Toure who should be a major part of the offense this season. AM can come back for a 5th year if he wishes since he is technically a JR. I think the defense is set up well going forward. We will lose 3/4 starters in the secondary which will hurt, but I think a lot the backups have some good experience and we have some promising young talent in Farmer, Gifford, Wright, Clark, Bretz - also picked up Johnson who is only a Sophomore. Guys like Ty Robinson and Nick Henrich are still only rFR. Overall - 51 freshmen, 11 sophomores, 17 juniors, 8 seniors (87/85) Honas is out for the year, Fidone tbd 51 freshmen!!! young football team overall still
  12. Toure, Martin, Manning, Betts, Falck Top 5 guys in order (IMO) if I had to guess right now. I hope Betts can break out of his shell cause he is very talented. Brown and Nixon will also have some catches. Overall, I feel much better than last year with the WRs.
  13. Masks are not required, but I am shocked I haven't seen more outrage on how this fan day will ruin the season and infect the whole state of Nebraska with the Delta variant.
  14. Biggest thing I saw was no RB who stepped up outside of 1 or 2 games. I don't see how it isn't going to be Yant at this point. Scott is reliable but meh, Stepp hurt, Johnson hurt, Morrison I hope emerges as the #2. Ervin is solid but just a true freshman.
  15. The only P5 team that was left out was TCU (came from the Mountain West). Some divisional teams can be moved around but you get the picture. I believe this is what it will come to in the near future and we will see a 16 team playoff. After the division winners are determined, the next 8 teams are chosen by the committee will qualify for the Playoff. I don't see a reason for a lot of the non-P5 teams to exist anymore in the same league TBH and haven't for a lot of years. You get a breakthrough team once a decade but they fit better in their own league overall instead of the FBS. This will also require teams to schedule some harder out of conference games going forward. B10 can also keep their name if it makes them feel better. Midwestern Conference (Division 1) Illinois Iowa Iowa State Kansas Nebraska Minnesota Northwestern Wisconsin (Division 2) Indiana Maryland Michigan Michigan State Purdue Ohio State Penn State Rutgers Pacific Conference (Division 1) Cal Oregon Oregon State Stanford UCLA Utah Washington Washington State (Division 2) Arizona Arizona State Baylor BYU Colorado Kansas St Texas Tech USC Southeastern Conference (Divison 1) Alabama Auburn Mississippi St Missouri Oklahoma Ole Miss Texas Texas A&M (Divison 2) Arkansas Florida Georgia Kentucky LSU Oklahoma St South Carolina Tennessee Atlantic Coastal Conference (Divison 1) Boston College Clemson Florida St Pittsburgh Syracuse Vanderbilt Virginia Tech West Virginia (Divison 2) Duke Georgia Tech Louisville NC St North Carolina Notre Dame Miami Virginia
  16. I'll take a guy like Trev who knows Nebraska than some random outside hire that knows s#!t about UNL and tries 'their way' of things. He did well at UNO and understands the unique job in Lincoln. I don't care that he was a great football player here like Frost, but I also realize we aren't USC, Florida, or Texas. Nebraska knows Nebraska.
  17. I never stated each walk-on would get the equal scholarship money - news flash, they wouldn't have to. Going to Nebraska and earning some money while playing here, training here, eating here, going to games here vs a 1AA is a big difference to a lot of kids. They also still have the chance to get a scholarship before their playing time is over at UNL.
  18. Nebraska carries a massive roster now that Frost wants us to keep getting walk-ons...so that made me think that there should be a local company/brand etc. that should strictly support walk-ons. This could be a solid incentive for kids who get scholarships at places like SDSU, UNI, or a MAC school vs walk-on at Nebraska. We could reach out to them and explain all the benefits of being a walk-on at Nebraska has along with the ones we currently have in place. Thoughts?
  19. Mitch Sherman should never report on Nebraska. Dude wanted his clicks. Completely out of context
  20. This all started because MITCH SHERMAN (who is a douche) cherry picked the quote and inserted Luke's name to make Frost look bad. He wants his click bait and got it.
  21. I think the 4 team only benefited the top 6 teams in the country as we saw. So yes, when we were great then it would have been a luxury. For everyone else though it was horrible. No one cared about even the old "BCS" bowls like they used to. And to me the last 7 years has been a snowball effect for teams like Bama, Clemson, Ohio St. Recruiting even more easy, better chance at winning a natty for them etc.
  22. I am for 12 over 4 easily. I think no playoff was better than 4 for multiple reasons - one being the bowl games still had meaning. 8 was probably better, but 12 is still fine with me. A few things they will need to have discussions on... Let's say Nebraska made the playoff and hosted a playoff game. I'm going. 100%. BUT how many would go to the 2nd game knowing there is a chance of a 3rd game? For money reasons that will impact a lot of fans decisions. Teams like UCF, Cincinnati, and Boise St now have the upper hand over middle tier P5 teams, yes even Nebraska at this point. They have a big advantage over their conferences at this time, and it could snowball being they will make the playoffs regularly. I assume bowl games will even have a lesser meaning. Maybe they need a version of the basketball NIT tournament?
  23. Yant needs to be the story of the year...and hopefully he can be.
  24. I went back and watched games again from last year...Wandale will be missed. Too bad he couldn't hang on to another year where he would have fit in better with the taller WRs and TEs. Less focus on him.
