    Option

And understood the culture of NU. Maybe even won a national championship. A guy who maybe learned under offensive gurus like Chip Kelly or that TO guy. A power run game with two back sets....some counters, traps and draws with spread elements....and a dual threat QB to run it.... Like TO said, you see the option style O maybe once a season...You start to prepare Mon-Thurs. Maybe 4 days tops. Hard to stop. The brilliance was TO was running a lot of power and maybe 20-30% option.....I'm an old school purist. I'd I've to see that be our identity again. Just a physical, smash mouth team. Modernize into the 21st century and throw in the spread elements.. Amen. Now that's what I'm talking about. Power football with 20/30% option. A mobile QB that can throw it and mix in play-action passes. I'm tired of watching 3rd down and 2 and we can't power run for the 1st down. I like coach MR as a person and think he has a lot to clean up the post-Pelini PR nightmare, but I don't see him or DL's offense leading the Huskers to relevance. The team looks soft.

Watching schools like Georgia Tech, Army, Air Force and others that still focus on run-first option make me wish for the good old days of option football. With all the spread offenses out there, the triple option is now novel. Bring it back. I want smash mouth.
  3. For what it's worth, Wikipedia already has his bio updated to reflect his new position with the Huskers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Stewart_%28American_football%29
  4. Eee gads do not let him go to Iowa or heaven forbid WISCONSIN. Does he want to be a Husker? If so with that size, work ethic, grades and speed get him now.
  5. Looked him up plays for Lawrence Free State High School which plays pretty good competition in the KC area.
  6. Looks pretty slippery, nice YAC. I agree he looks bigger than 170.
  7. Word on the Mizzou boards is that Ramirez decommitted from Mizzou. Any chance we'll get another look?
  8. went to the the 810 zone on the Plaza last year and the upstairs level was all Huskers, lots of kids.
  9. If we keep losing quality linemen, at what point do we decide that our line coach(es) aren't attractive to incoming players and make a switch? This is beyond concerning at this point. We have to make a decision, soon, on Cotton. Either he goes or we continue to have mediocre line play. Simple as that. __________________________________________________________________________ + 10 I didn't want to be the one to open that can of worms, but you gotta think with our facilities, fan support, academic support, and NEED for linemen, it comes down to coaching, and more specifically, the position coach.
  10. WWWHHHHAAATTTT???? What is going on with these linemen? How is it DONU, once home of the proud, you don't rebuild you reload, original big uglies, pipeline can't get these guys excited enough to verbal? Harlow gave us a 10 and said Washingto was, to paraphrase, "OK," yet he verbals to them? Please help me understand. Signed, Confused and frustrated
  11. never mind, just saw the michigan info after i posted, my bad
  12. was just over on the penn state scout board and there is a thread that says according to twitter he committed to Michigan. Anybody have any actual solid reporting about his status?
  13. Scout is reporting he verballed to Arkansas State
  14. Pretty darn impressive. Looks very well coached and in his film made some nice decisions and throws. Beck used Todd Reesing very effectively at Kansas and Stanton appears to be a bigger, stronger QB than Reesing was. Would fit our offense well.
  15. Pretty impressive interview, sounds like a quality young man and glad to have him. He's already large; imagine what he'll look like after some time in the S&C program.
  16. take 75 north of topeka, the bridge work on 36 is pretty slow.
  17. One big difference---Scott Frost was from Nebraska so it was seen as a "homecoming" for him. Like he came to his senses kind of thing. Not so with little Gab.
  18. Here is a nice shot of jack behind brent mushberger and bobby knight at the big 12 tourney. jack is the old man with a flat top to the right in the image.....asleep.
  19. I don't care about wow factor if they can recruit, coach, and represent themselves and the University well.
  20. Many years ago I was in Lincoln on a Friday afternoon and stopped to see the stadium (had just put in FieldTurf). Gates were open so I walked in and strolled around the stadium a bit. I sat down in the South end zone to hang out as it was a nice late Spring day, and then someone came jogging in through the North end zone entrance coming my way. It was TO. He stopped when he got to me to ask if he could help me with anything, we exchanged a few pleasantries, and then he went on his jogging way. Nice guy, class act. One other time I was at a convention in Des Moines (American Association of Swine Practitioners--pig veterinarians) right after NU won their '95 national title. TO was scheduled to be the keynote speaker so got to see him there. Class act, some great stories and a standing O for him and the team by the crowd.
  21. I gained 40 pounds and added several seconds to my 40 yard dash my freshman year of college. I was on the beer and burrito diet. Brass Rail with a stop at Taco Bell (in my day there was one right off campus downtown).
  22. Regarding Beck, maybe not flashy, but we need to trust that Bo knows more about what the team needs than we do. Give the guy a chance.
  23. Saw on Huskerpedia recruiting board a WR from FL was scheduled to be in Lincoln yesterday. Pretty impressive hands/moves. Anyone know anything about him or his visit?
