I know there are some very intelligent people out there on this board and maybe even a few lawyers . Is there a way we can start a gofundme page or something similar to help out the athletic department / city of Lincoln? The season being canceled obviously sucks, but I hate that there are people that are going to suffer due to the cancelation/postponement of the season. We claim to be the greatest fans in college football, so lets show the world we are. How great would this be for us as Husker fans to take care of ourselves while we also silently use this as a F@#$ you against those clowns Wilbon and Howard? Not looking for people to break their budgets. Just looking for those folks who were planning on going to a game this year throwing what they would have spent into the fund. I haven't set up the account yet, just gauging interest and to see if there was anything illegal about this. Go Big Red

Grant Wistrom/Jason Peter. They were basically one person right? Without hesitation... Read their book. The chapter about the work they pushed their teammates to do in the off season after 96 was admirable. Those dudes were insanely talented, but I LOVED the motor they both brought. Never took a play off and I think they would be able to light a fire under a young defense. They would also push that offense to new levels after playing against guys like that everyday in practice. Not sure how they would fit with a 3-4... but I would love to watch the boys play with some fire and reckless abandon out there. I really miss the Blackshirts of the mid-to-late 90's. Also Ahman Green. That dude was insane and could do wonders behind a line with mediocre talent. Pass catcher, not afraid to run inside and was fast enough to run outside if need be.

I live in VB and will have to check out this kid this fall. His high school always produces some studs and is one of the best in the commonwealth. Anyone know where we are with this guy?

What did Miami do to this kid? I may have missed something in the last 18 pages of threat. Either way... Theres no place like Nebraska... not even South Beach or Coral Gables. ( I mean that in the best of ways)

I'm not a lawyer, but I took some Criminal Justice classes at DONU. Could a Lawyer claim this as pro-bono work and represent him free of charge? Would this still be considered an NCAA violation? Its a 'good deal' for any other citizen...not specifically the next great Husker RB

Kids an incredible talent and I hope all ends well with this. I don't think he could have ever imagined having a video of an ex-girlfriend on his phone would have blown up to this. Hopefully he cleans it up and moves forward. I would hate to have another LP situation here.

I've worked with enough team guys to know they're not all stellar athletes with impeccable coordination, even if they make it through BUD/S. If the guy had some speed, maybe convert him to one of the middle/outslide linebacker spots. At 6'2, he's not short. Look at some of the Husker greats in the LB position. IDK maybe I just want this dude to succeed due to his background.

Anybody close enough to the program to know where he sits on the depth chart anywhere? I hope it works out for this guy.

Guy, I get what you're saying, but look at the last sentence in your post... when have the Dakotas or Kansas been football powerhouses? Minus NDSU no Kansas or Dakota school would EVER be considered a powerhouse. I agree Rutgers and Maryland are head scratchers, but look at those markets (NYC, Baltimore, DC) and tell me they don't add some $$$. I think having them in the conference for other sports is good.

This kid single-handedly beat Grand Island in the State Championship game. It was obvious he was the best player on the field during that game, and I'm a Grand Island alum. I hope he's 'N'. Good to be back after a hiatus. GBR.

I was on vacation in New York and was in the subway leaving yankee stadium after my Red Sox killed them...and i thought it safer to wear a nebraska hat than my redsox hat and had numerous people comment and say go big red on the train and throughout the city that day... it's crazy what a lil red N on a hat will do, one of the comedians on the street even offered to buy my lunch for me (he was a husker alum) crazy lil world...it truly is a husker nation

I was just waiting for the suspension to make it nationally and for people to start bashing callahan. I think that a kid in trouble needs something to keep them busy and out of further trouble. The kid isn't allowed to go into a bar, or anywhere else that primarily serves alcohol... for a college kid thats pretty tough. that is the social scene. i'm sure he's being run into the ground... Callahan is a disciplinarian...and he'll do it under the radar of the media.

I work with tyronne and the dude is a class act... totally a cut above the rest. dude is incredibly huge, not really tall but is body builder ripped... glad to see him get in the paper.

I'm not worried and i would be kinda getting sick of all the hype surrounding recruiting as well... i think that a lot of people in the state put too much pressure on instate kids... dont get me wrong i would love to have 50 kids from the state on the roster, but let him look at other possibilities... if pedey and co have the facitilities and the staff why would he want to leave...he just wants to have that bachelor party before he gets hitched

I don't have much faith in just verbal commits anymore... i really don't have much faith until we get them on campus and in uniform... the last few years has made me somewhat of a pessimist on college recruiting... but GOO BIG RED

kinda off topic but i think we should get some people together and start a group of people to petition together and get TIME WARNER to allow someone else to provide cable in Lincoln....it's outragous what they're doing to the cable here...getting rid of ESPN classic for another kids channel is soo frusterating and i really was heartbroken to find that out. I LOVE ESPN CLASSIC and miss it daily. If they're to "get rid of something" get rid of something stupid like WE or lifetime or something to that effect, ya know the channels that most people don't watch.

I think all of your worries should be at rest as you saw that info on a jayhawk and a KSwho board...they live in denial down there. I have no real worries about this year...ok one minor one about purify but thats it....we'll be fine this year

something really cool happened to me while i was on vacation in new york.... i read about zach in the new jersey paper about how he was doing well and had the save for that game and they were talking about how well he was doing...it was really cool to read about a lil bit of nebraska in the CITY

I realize that the kid is young and needs all the maturing he can get... i'm really not a pessimist and I agree with all of you this kid is sick and is probably the most talented athelete i have ever watched at that age level...and i grew up playing against the Ruuds and and all those kids from SE when they were unstopable... I've seen a lot of really good talent...but the kid needs an attitude check and just maybe he found it... we'll see here's to praying that he grows up and realizes that he has upteen ammounts of talent and just needs to dig his nose into the books and turn into a gym rat cause this kid could be AMAZING skers out

Good for them it's nice to see that there are other excited people for football...just wait guys until Saban gets more money to go somewhere else and we'll see if they can sell out for 50 consecutive years... 91,00 is pretty impressive

Something that i think is kinda funny that i'm surprised somebody didn't bring up is that Mack Brown isn't the best recruiter...no kiddin the guy is the head coach for the university of Texas... TEXAS the state where highschool football is a religion... if you have that kind of talent pool you better be in the top 5 recruiting EVERY SINGLE YEAR... it's like fishing with dynamite...they don't recruit it's an application process... I think that getting a kid to an up and coming school that has been down for a while is more impressive than getting a kid raised in your state just a few miles from your school. I BLEED HUSKER RED and always will but Texas has no excuse when they don't win a NC. They have a talent pool to fish from. I don't think he;s neccessarily a great coach but a great manager. I think the era of great headcoaches is gone... school are hiring guys that are great faces for the school. I firmly believe that Bo Pelini (as dirty as the guy is) would have been a better coach. I know cally has offensive genius but DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS....off the rant... GOD IS IT SATURDAY YET? SKERS OUT

my girlfriends little brother played ball with him growing up so i know more than you think..and he's lazy...maybe he had a change recently but the kid half asses it in certain games and practice. Look at his stats from Central and then look at them from prep...granted hes a year older but he didn't give half the effort at prep as he did at central. I know he has family issues but who the heck doesn't? Don't tell me what i know and what i dont know... the kid in the past has been a lazy kid that has loads of potential...i just hope that he realizes what he's got and taps into it.

this is the type of kid that i could see finding someone giving him "more" love somewhere else, or getting in an argument with a coach and getting in a car and driving home. three highschools in two years does not impress me. it appears that most of the problems this kid has is that he is a natural athlete and doesn't have the attitude or work ethic to see something through to the finish. doesn't seem to have that killer instinct to do more than just win. Call me a hater but this kid just rubs me wrong, i don't know if i want him or not
