  1. There used to be a " Nebraska way" but it has been forgotten by some fans and maybe never fully appreciated by admin. The Nebraska way produced 5 national champs. We need to get back to that.
  2. Why dont you ask Riley about stopping Scott Frosts O? If frost isnt ready how come hes lighting up the scoreboard on the guy we just hired?
  3. might care about the guys but says things very damaging about the university and basically tells players to think about transferring because it is a toxic place.Sounds like a guy pissed about being fired. Not a total excuse for the language. The head coach at Nebraska needs to be held to a high standard, Bo was maybe not as composed as needed several times this included. Sometimes he acts more like a normal hothead than a 3 mill. Head Coach. But I do believe he is generally honest and cares about his players. Not sure how much he cared about the U or fans as a whole.
  4. Other than the innappropriate language nothing he said draws my ire. In fact, sounds like he cares about the guys a lot. I think he perceived more ill will from fans and staff than was really there. Ill forgive the guy for that. I dont know about SE's character in terms of helping others vs. helping self. Bo seems pretty selfless to me.
  5. Here's some positive perspective. 16 years removed from our last national championship, I still think we have better fans and are a better destination overall than say... Wisconsin on their best day! You've got a heck of a program when you can "float" for 16 years and still be up at the top! GO HUSKERS!
  6. Using the steps of dealing with loss implies that this coaching change was a "loss." The real death of the Husker dynasty occurred long ago. And yes I went through the steps then and each time we lose to OU or Wis. I definitely start at denial. I am now in "acceptance" of the fact that dominance will probably never again be the norm at NU. We will occasionally be relevant unless we get lucky and find a "Bob Stoops" type guy. I dont think OU would have returned to a high level without him. Riley is a nice guy and a good coach. He will probly have one maybe two good years (10 wins) at NU interspersed with some 8-9 win seasons. Then its off to some sunshine and we are back at square one again. I hope next time they get a younger prospect with intelligence, principles, in state ties and something to prove.
  7. I think Callahan should get HB to wherever he is coaching now. In it to the end baby.
  8. To me, Nebraska needs to have a "come to Jeseus" and get back to what really is good Nebraska football. Punishing offensive line. Power football. Multiple option sets. Play action pass out of those same sets. Blackshirt defense. Recruit speed. Recruits will be available for our unique system. That way we are not thrown in the same pool with everyone trying to get the prototypical QB. Football is simple. Sometimes it just comes down to a one on one matchup. Your commitment to a system is what makes it work or not.
  9. I like watching Husker football. Problem is it has not been played since Nov. 10 2001. Sorry for the somewhat neg. post, I just miss the old style.
  10. I think we should extrapolate the Big 12 model. First we eliminate any championship games and start an ad campaign touting one true champion because the whole regular season matters. Next we sit back and see which two emerging teams would generate the most money and interest if they played each other. Then we do whatever we can to ensure those two teams play, even if there is a third team more deserving, as long as the third team would not generate more money if they were in. Fairness would be something we would value so long as it did not interfere with money and clout especially where a certain state is involved that rhymes with "Shmexas".
  11. Im going on record for 16. As long as no 3 loss teams. I would love to see a 16 seed cinderella story. Edit: looks like the 16 would include 3 loss teams. I guess I am not sure about that. Maybe 8.
  12. The question was do you think that Bo could win a game against #1. Im just sayin yeah. He had an epic defense that only needed an O that could average 17 points a game and he would have been national champ. Remember that d was holding other teams to around 11 pts per game and also scoring 7 points or so themselves. But our offense was not good. The Callahan deal: just sayin sometimes everybody thinks one way and sometimes they iz all wrong. I didnt even think we could beat Michigan. Am I right or am I right. .
  13. Yep you give Pelini his 09-10 defense and his 2014 offense youve maybe got a NC team. And for the record I am not a Bo fan. Also remember 98% of the nation according to ESPN thought Michigan was going to beat Callahan and they were wrong.
  14. I voted yes. I dont care what the other team is ranked, they might not show up to play (so-to-speak). Riley probly would have been spanked by USC 9 times out of ten. I dont think he's a bad coach. I also dont think Gen. Lee was a bad General, but he loses the civil war 9/10 times too.
  15. There is something wrong with it. AD's AD and coaches coach.
  16. Impressed that Riley is getting into living rooms. Definitely getting after the recruits.
  17. Im sick of almost all the espn abc guys and would much rather listen to any other network other than joe buck. I get sick of them replaying a 50/50 play ten times or rail on about how some guy needs ejected for making a hard block. Theyve dam near ruined the game. Go back and watch a 1990's game called by Keith Jackson. Soo much better. And no " the previous play is under review". Ed Cunnungham is still anti husker.
  18. Dont you kind of get the feeling that alvarez is pushy behind the scenes. I mean he appointed himself as acting HC when BB left. What AD does that? Kudos to OSU for the quick grab.
  19. Epic plan. Congrats on that...but it will never happen.
  20. I skimmed the article. Agree that he is a good coach and CAN coach. Keep in mind this is NEBRASKA. We only expect and frankly, deserve, the best and brightest here. If you want a fine custodian of the program to get you through a few years while you find and groom the next hot shot, sounds plausible. IF you hired Riley to directly bring home the next two national championships, well that seems unlikely. I guess the question is... can he get us consistently in the top 10 before he retires?
  21. Wow I would have thought he would end up in the NFL
  22. Good Point. Maybe just less hope now than ever?If you have less hope going into this season than the last one, you only have your loyalties to the former coach to blame. Move on Wrong. Many of us have less hope because Riley has never won a conference championship or proven he can recruit effectively with the challenges that Nebraska has. These are very reasonable apprehensions. I thought we definitely needed a change, but your "move on" statement further displays your disdain for the former coach and nothing more. It looks like we could not get our hands on a big time coach with the timing of Pelini's firing. If I were in charge, I would have timed the firing with the ability to get our hands on a big time PROVEN/YOUNGER/HUNGRIER coach. With the Riley hiring, this did not happen. We probably fired Pelini a year too late OR too early... So quit telling people to move on while you flapped your gums tirelessly about your disproval of the former staff. Agree with some of this but younger and hungry does not often come with "proven". There was a young guy named Tom Osborne who was young and hungry and had never been a major college head coach either. Different time yadda yadda but youve either done it or you haven't.
