I remember Shawn E being highly recommended by Barry Alvarez.  I honestly believe he knew what we were getting and that it would benefit the Badgers for many years. I also think Perlman wanted to see Nebraska become the shining academic star of the midwest and saw no reason to push athletics.

I don't think about Riley much anymore but whenever I hear about Bryson Williams I get pissed off all over again. If you have a lineman in Nebraska and Wisconsin's recruiting them, you f***ing offer them unless there are a bunch of other more talented lineman who are dying to come to Nebraska. Even then, they have to be a lot more talented than the Nebraska guy because the Nebraska guy is more likely to care more about the team. Also, you consider the fact he was offered by Harvard when you're deciding whether to pick the academic risk instead. Then for the cherry on top, Eric Piatkowski's brother tweeted referring to Bryson as his nephew. It's like, every reason you can possibly have to recruit a player is right there knocking you over the head and you miss it.

@TonyStalloni - i hate that my mind goes there, but, it's there indeed.  BA is the enemy now.  Why would you do as your "enemy" suggests and think it'll work in your favor.  Eff him and the vadgers.
