  1. It's not a huge leap of faith to get to 5-7. NU currently sits at 3-3, with almost sure losses to Ohio State and Penn State. Of the remaining 4 games, I would put NU even in terms of athletes and coaching with them. So, I figured NU goes 2-2 among those 4 teams.
  2. I am sure you should be able to deduct the $500 from your taxes, since the addition to your home would be used for business purposes.
  3. I think there is a good chunk of the population that equates the McMansion building with the lending/housing/economic crises from the early 2000's. These lenders were allowing people to buy big homes that they couldn't afford, and there was really nothing backing those mortgages. It bit the American economy in the ass, so there are probably lingering negative feelings from those types of homes and home builders. Again, personally, if the person can afford to live in the home, I don't really care how big it is.
  4. The only things about the McMansion craze that bugs me is that they pack on these "bigger homes" on tiny lots. I understand that the developer generates more $ by doing it this way, and I don't have a problem with housing developers maximizing their revenue/profit. However, I do like a bigger yard and the privacy that comes with it. We have friends who live in a "McMansion" and their back yard area has about 15-20 feet from back door to a half-fence and the next property starts.
  5. Oh yeah, I am sure if you both are running businesses out of the home, the space runs out quick. I am satisfied with the size of my home, but I would probably have bought a bigger one if I could have afforded it. But, it's never good to be "house rich and cash poor".
  6. Damn capitalist!!! I'm just joking. I think 3,000 sq. ft would be plenty big, but I can see how it would fill up with 3 or 4 kids. My house is about 2,100 sq ft, and it feels small at times with 2 kids.
  7. The people that are against McMansions will always say "those people don't NEED all that space". They are probably right that those size homes aren't a need, but it would be nice to have all that space in a home. If the homeowners are willing to pay more for a size of a house they don't "need", who really cares?
  8. I don't know if he can catch or run routes, but he did play WR in high school. I don't see how he would be an effective safety if he can't tackle, unless he's only asked to play centerfield and defend passes all day.
  9. The McMansion moniker has been around for a long time. People want to hate on them, mainly because they are jealous. I live in the Denver suburbs, and there are plenty of developments of McMansions. They have their positives and negatives, but I am not going to hate on the people who live there.
  10. If Riley is fired and Jackson does stick around NU, he should be shifted to WR. He can't tackle at all, and his tall, rangy body is exactly what NU needs at WR.
  11. I think this is one of the most frustrating aspects of Riley and his staff. They don't force any accountability with the players. They allow players to make numerous mistakes on the field without any threat of being benched or pulled from the game. I understand there may be a talent drop-off from the 1st string and beyond, but with all of the bad plays happening, I don't know what it would hurt to try the backup and see if he can make some plays. At some point, Riley and his staff have to tell his players to "go make a dang play!!!"
  12. Yeah, especially when Banker was called by his bestie to be told he was being fired while out on a recruiting trip.
  13. Tanner's dad pushed to leave Tulane in the first place, and has very high hopes for his son to be a NFL QB. It's kinda painful when the TV cameras show the Lee family in the stands after a WR has a drop. I understand that Lee is taking too much blame for the offense's struggles, but he hasn't been very good this year.
  14. If any black coach was going to be accepted by the State of Nebraska, it would have been Turner Gill. Osborne commented that he went with Bo, primarily because he felt the defense needed the biggest fix. I also think that Osborne liked Bo's strong personality, and that won him over during the interview process. Osborne didn't realize that Bo's strong personality had a very negative side to it though.
  15. I have been as big of a Riley critic as anyone on this board, but I did think Riley did a very good job of making Oregon State somewhat successful. However, his main success at Oregon State was from 2006-2009, and Riley's teams had losing records 3 out of the last 5 years at Oregon State. Riley was on a downward trend, and was thrown a lifeline by Shawn Eichorst.
  16. Oregon State's head coaching job just came available.  Will Riley want to go back to Corvallis for stop #3 there?

He left 11 million on the table

wish I could take that since he doesn’t want it.

Let's see how this season plays out. I think it's a tough one, but long term I don't think that's the case. Maybe it's not as elite as we'd hope and so he should go eventually, but it's not that bad either.

Anyway, this was more about OSU. People were abuzz about the Andersen hire. Every time they landed a 4* it was news. There was some argument that they'd do better without Riley. GA is now 7-22.

@zoogs are you watching the same games everyone else is?  NU isn't competing against any teams with a pulse, and also has the bad habit of losing to teams we shouldn't.

  17. Honestly, if Lee is on schedule to graduate this December, he may just give the NFL a shot.
  18. He didn't use the Grad Transfer to go from Tulane to NU. He was a "normal" transfer and sat out the 2016 season, as a result. He should be able to be a grad transfer for 2018.
  19. I may be taking a little too much from one part of your comment, but what is a "finesse" running system"? Are you saying "run the damn ball" guy isn't going to be happy with Frost's offense which has a lot of "spread" formations? I think (as I think you do) that you can have power run games, out of a "spread" formation with a QB in a pistol or shot-gun. This can be done by splitting a TE wide or even having 4 WR'S in the formation, yet running the ball behind a dominant and powerful o-line. We all saw Osborne go to wing-bone formation with Frost as his QB, and that wasn't called a "finesse" running system.
  20. It was about as simple of an argument as saying that Frost and UCF doesn't "run the ball" enough because they are averaging 300 yards passing. I agree that I really don't care what type of Frost runs. I think he is smart enough to adapt his offense to work in the environment that his team plays in. That "environment" includes roster, competition, weather, etc. I would hope that any coach is smart enough to adapt what they run to the team's environment. I don't think Riley and Langsdorf have been that smart with the current NU offense.
  21. I know Dirk is a 4-letter word around here, but in his Mad Chatter blog this morning, he says that Riley has turned Nebraska into Oregon State. He did that with the coaches he brought with him in year 1, and he has done that with the approach of the team. Instead of taking HIS COACHING UP A LEVEL with the Nebraska resources, he has taken Nebraska down to Oregon State's level.
