  1. I have said this multiple times, but I can't get over how small our current WR's are. They look as small as the WR's that Osborne had in the 90's. Those guys were basically blockers, who might catch 1 or 2 passes a game, and would run a reverse. These small receivers aren't going to be able to consistent enough in an offense that emphasizes the passing game. Wisconsin's CBs were so much more physical than NU's WRs, and the WRs couldn't do anything about it.
  2. If NU is going to make the move during the season, after a probably beat down by Ohio State would be the best time. There is a bye week after Ohio State, so it would give the interim Head Coach the opportunity to work with the team and right the ship. Although, since the interim HC would most likely come from the current coaching staff, I don't know how much things would change.
  3. If Riley is to be fired, they won't wait until after the bowl game (if NU makes one). Firings are done as soon as the regular season is over, so a new coach can be hired and he can try to salvage the recruiting class.
  4. Dirk Chatelain had a good podcast with Scott's mom, Carol. The podcast was centered around Carol's own amazing athletic career, but they do talk about Scott and his experiences. Carol made a funny comment how she made Scott take speech class at Wood River, because they figured it would be a good way to learn how to handle speaking in front of people, and he would probably have to do that being a QB at a big college, etc. I just thought it was something interesting that she pointed during the interview.
  5. Lee looks great in a tshirt and shorts when he's throwing against air. Crap, I thought Matt Millen was going to blow him at halftime of tonight's game. People fall in love with a big dude with a strong arm. Too bad he is terrible at making decisions.
  6. I don't get the comments that Frost needs to prove more to get the head coaching job at NU. If he ever gets the NU job, or if he lands elsewhere, he has proven himself and has a very strong resume worthy of being hired by a power 5 program. It might as well be NU trying to hire him.
  7. I'm with you. Whether it's Frost, or whomever is the next coach, they need to bring in the best asssitant coaches he can find.
  8. Bounds and Green commented on NU "competing" when Eichorst was fired. NU didn't compete at all in the 2nd half of this game. Barring a complete change in the team, NU will get smoked at home by Ohio State and on the road at Penn State. That's at best a 7-5 record with bad losses all throughout the season. That's the best case scenario. I fully expect at least 2 losses to Purdue, Minny, and Iowa.
  9. Were you guys watching the same game I was? NU was dominated in the 2nd half. They didn't "play better". They played like who they are. Against good teams, they have no chance, against bad teams NU might win if they don't make enough mistakes to blow the game. The team is not good. I don't know how you can't see that.
  10. For whatever reason, Riley doesn't demand toughness from his team or demand his players to excel. His career at Oregon State was rewarded for being "pretty good" and now he's at NU it's been bad. Riley is done, he knows it, his team knows it.
  11. There were many instances in the game that the crowd was ready to go nuts, and then the team crapped the bed.
  12. People don't want to admit it, but that's exactly what it is. It's a losing culture.
  13. When Riley was hired, I was one of the few fans who actually knew who he was (I'm a collegw football nerd). I thought he was an interesting hire, but I was leery of his offensive style, and as I did more research his game management, I grew concerned. In the 3 years at NU, he has changed assistant coaches and coordinators, but the constant is Riley. He's an average coach, with an average career record. I only care about wins and losses. I don't care if he's a nice guy. Riley's time should come to the end this year. GBR!!!
  14. Barring a miracle, Riley is done. I hope NU gets a great hire in here and things are turned around.
  15. I agree that it's been an issue for a long time, but Solich, Callahan, and Pelini aren't the coaches right now. The current staff was supposed to change things and they aren't.
  16. Get an 80 yard pass to cut the lead to 10-7, allow a 75 yard TD run to get the lead back to 10 points. #Rileyed
  17. Next week will be the final nail in Riley's coffin. Another blowout loss at home will lead to his retirement.
  18. Well according to our awesome coaches, we have great recruits. But I saw bigger, stronger, faster players on Wisconsin's side of the field today.
  19. The games are still fun to watch, but at some point don't you want NU to Win?
  20. This just in, we landed on the moon!!!
  21. I will out some blame on the players, but why haven't Coach DUI and the other coaches have been able to bring in better WR's. For an offense so dependent on the passing game, the WR's are small and not very dynamic. Beck and the former golf coach got more out of those WR's.
