  1. Well, at least we won't have to worry about understanding the tiebreaker rules for the Big Ten West division.

  2. 11-1 votes. I miss nothing about that conference. B1G is great, we need to fix us and it will be fun. Yes, the problem is with Nebraska, not the rest of the conference.
  3. I think the thing I am struggling with is that the new coaching staff doesn't seem to be all that better than the last. O line was supposed to be all Barney's fault. Well, it still is pretty bad under Cavanaugh. People think the WR coach is amazing, but we are still seeing a lot of drops by the receivers. The RB situation is a disaster, and they can't seem to figure out what they want to do there. The defense has traded a poor run defense for a terrible pass defense.
  4. Ya who doesn't love academics. I mean, that translates to wins more so than superb athletes. You do know there is a university attached to our football program, right? Yea, but football brings in a crap load of money and shouldn't be ignored. Nobody is ignoring the football program, but that money gets allocated to the athletic department, not the general university. Yes, a strong athletic department/football program does have an impact on enrollment numbers, but so does being a strong academic program. The better the academics, the more students want to attend UNL, that creates more alumni, and increases the donations to the school.
  5. No kidding, we have let a school where most of the students don't care about football come into our stadium and beat us 2 out of 3 times, and the only win was via a Hail Mary.
  6. Well that was 20 years ago. Can't do much about that now.
  7. Ya who doesn't love academics. I mean, that translates to wins more so than superb athletes.I am not a huge fan of Big Ten football. But, as an academic institution, being in the Big Ten is a very good thing for the University of Nebraska. The move was as much for academics as it was athletics.
  8. Going independent is nearly impossible. BYU is finding it's pretty hard to do. You think all those teams that you are putting in as "permanent" would want to lock in a non-conference game with NU every year? What do they have to gain from playing NU every year? It's not like going to Nebraska opens up a huge recruiting hot bed.
  9. Go look at Pitts D improvement under Narduzzi. In one year, its pretty remarkable and its in all categories. Read about his quarters coverage. It looks nothing like what we play. He goes press about 90-95% of the time. To paraphrase a Pitt DB this year. "With no safety help, its the best man wins. The receiver has so many options so you get in his face and take away those options. Its physical. Its aggressive." This looks nothing like our D. 15 INTs to date. NU has had 5...... This is with team throwing like 40+ per game...... Thanks for sharing. That's great info that I didn't know. So, everyone said that Banker's D was like Narduzzi's, but it isn't. All I know is that Banker's D pretty much stinks.
  10. Banker's scheme sucks. Flat out. It may work for Narduzzi, but Banker can't coach it and is too stubborn to do anything else. Also, Riley won't fire him, no matter how mad it gets.
  11. I thought it closed and Suh was making it a Nike thingyThat was the Nebraska Bookstore, which was a block off campus. There is still the University Bookstore in the basement of the student union.
  12. I sat in my parents seats for Kenny Walker's senior day. The whole crowd waving our hands by our heads was so cool to see.
  13. I was listening to Sharp and Benning last week and they had Clester Johnson on and Sharp had asked them, "Of all the players you guys have played with, who was the one guy that just made the team instantly better." They both said Farley was by far. They said that anytime he was on the field, he would just make everyone around him better and that his presence was unbelievable. They would talk about how the defense would be backed up against the wall and Farley would tell the guys, " Don't worry, I got this" and he would go out and make a great play. They mentioned that it really bothered Osborne when he had to suspend Farley. We beat Texas in 1996 if Farley is playing, and then we go on to win the MNC.Benning was taking with Peter today on his radio show. They both were laughing at how TO would get mad at Farley for not covering a guy in the flat on the weak side. Farley would just answer "but coach, the ball was going the other way, I'm going where the ball was". I have a feeling there are a lot of "Farley being Farley" stories.
  14. The radio will always be "ahead" of the TV, unless you use a computer feed and sync it up with your TV that way.
  15. Maybe Peter should have said "most accomplished defensive player in NU history" for Wistrom. I don't think anyone can match Wistrom's accomplishments (3 national title teams, 2 as a starter, 2-time conference DPOY, etc.). Wistrom wasn't the dominant force that Glover or Suh was, but he was still very special.
  16. One of my favorite DTs wa Steve Warren. He only started a couple games before his senior year. He has a couple obscure records for pass breakups.. He had 15 TFL and 7 sacks his senior year. NU Position (DL) Record Holder for Most PBUs in a Game with Three vs. California (9/12/98) NU Position (DL) Record Holder for Most PBUs in a Career with 10 Steve Warren was great. I met him at a wedding in the early 2000's and was a nice guy. I was really drunk and I don't think I beat him down too much with Chris Farley-esque questions about his NU playing career. "Remember that time you played football for Nebraska.....that was awesome."
  17. NU was up 31-14 at half, and controlled most of the game. Yes, CU did cut the lead to 10 in the 3rd quarter, but I never thought NU was in trouble of losing the game.
  18. After Saturday, NU will have worn black pants as many times as they have worn red pants in the last calendar year. Go Big Red?

This shouldn't be happening PowerT. I don't mind the alt uni's, but wear red pants on the road for crap sakes.

  19. This is pretty cool. http://www.hitfix.com/the-dartboard/every-star-wars-trailer-ever
  20. Nothing against Suh, but he only did it for 1 year. The argument for Wistrom is that he was so impactful for 3 years, and contributed as a true freshman.
  21. I disagree that Suh dominated CFB for 2 years. He was beyond great in 2009, but Suh wasn't even first team All-Big 12 in 2008. http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=3626465 Wistrom was 2-time conference DPOY.
  22. Great point about JP loving Wistrom like a brother. I think it's between Glover and Wistrom, in terms of best career at NU.
  23. It's funny to say, but Wistrom might be "under-appreciated" by some Husker fans (and I would include myself in that). He didn't have the 1 dominant year like Suh. He wasn't the brash, loudmouth like the Peter brothers. He wasn't the freak athlete and playmaker like Terrell Farley was. Wistrom came to NU and was a stud from day 1. I remember him getting a sack in garbage time against West Virginia. That was his first game as a true freshman. Wistrom and Peter coming back in 1997, when they would have been first round NFL draft picks set the tone for the 1997 National Championship team.
