  1. I think that if you say you will donate $250 or $500 a ticket, you can get season tickets. They will be super high up in one of the end zones, but you can probably get into the stadium. The priority points have more to do with getting better seats and tickets for road games.
  2. I am 100% with JJHusker. You can easily park at fraternity on campus for $10-15, and make the walk through campus to the stadium. It's awesome seeing all the people in red, and I love the walk through campus. The one disclaimer is that I usually get to campus 3 hours before game time and hit a tailgate spot for a couple hours. I took my 6 year old son to the So Miss game last year, and he had a great time (even though it was as if the game was being played on the surface of the sun). He loved driving through downtown, seeing all the people in red, walking through campus, and then tailgating. Plus, when the game is over, you can get quickly back to your car, and you can be back on I-80 westbound within a few minutes.
  3. Come on!!!! If teams are getting more snaps, then that should be more 3 and outs for the Blackshirts, or whatever jersey color Bo wants to have his defense wear.
  4. Reading the posts from TexAgs is pretty freaking funny. I thought NU fans were delusional sometimes. http://texags.com/main/forum.topic.asp?forum_id=5
  5. http://www.laflordom.../cigar/cigar-b/ About $7. Best cigar for the money. I do smoke at tailgates. In fact, it's about the only place I smoke. My kids aren't there so I don't have to explain to them that smoking is bad, but daddy does it anyway and they shouldn't. That's awesome!!! I have smoked cigars on occasion in the past, and they can be nice. Of course, I couldn't tell a bad cigar from a good one. My next door neighbor that just moved out would smoke cigars on his back porch. I actually would like how the smell of the cigar would come into our yard. It wasn't annoying or obnoxious. It was just a pleasant little smoky smell.
  6. Good thread, teach. I will usually be at a tailgate with my brother(s) and mom, so we just kinda hang out, drink beer, BS about stupid stuff, and watch the other games. I moved away from Nebraska after college, so I haven't been to too many tailgates/games with my college friends since then. I came back for the OU game in 2009, and we had a blast partying on O Street before the game, and hitting my mom's tailgate before the game. I am looking forward to meeting a group of friends at the Minnesota game this fall. Most of them went to Chicago for the NW game last year, and I missed it. I couldn't miss the road trip 2 years in a row.
  7. That's what I don't get either. NFL games are filled with jerseys. Why? It is really pushed by the team itself actually. Lets them know who to push for local advertising based upon popularity. I'd also argue that NFL Jerseys are generally of a higher quality than NCAA jerseys. Aren't they all the same loose-fitting, polyester shirts with screen-printed numbers? Yes, I know there are the super expensive ones with stitched numbers and names, but those are crazy expensive. Also, what do you do when a guy leaves the team?
  8. That's what I don't get either. NFL games are filled with jerseys. Why?
  9. Don't wear something that makes you look like an a$$, and I won't judge you. Just kidding. Noticing what people are wearing is just being observational. It's just something people do while hanging out at a tailgate or football game. I am waiting for the comment "I am not going to be looking at other dudes, seeing what shirt they are wearing. I am too busy checking out all the hot chicks."
  10. Worst--Shirtless guy 2nd Worst--Jersey guy 3rd Worst--Button down shirt guy with tie guy (I actually like that look for certain schools).
  11. That is very creepy, but just as weird iss the in-shape 20-something who wants to act like he is re-living his glory days by throwing on a football jersey to sit in the stands. Wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt. You aren't playing in the game.
  12. They played the Big 10 Championship game from last year on a continuous loop for a few days last week.
  13. I love how so many responses are "kick his ass". Are you guys in junior high? You going to meet him down near the swing set at the neighborhood park? Really?!?
  14. It would be interesting to see the feasability study done from the grad student. Light rails and other newer mass transit systems work out because they get a ton of federal funding. Generally, people that live in Nebraska will choose to drive places, rather than take a train. A "Husker" train could be something fun to do once or twice, but the novelty might wear off, especially if it's not convenient for people to use. Say, you have to drive 15-20 minutes to the Omaha train station, make sure you are 10 minutes early to catch the train, a 45 minute train ride, and then another 15 minute walk to where you want to get to go, that's over 1 1/2 hours just to get from Omaha to Lincoln. Yes, you would be able to drink, and not have to worry about parking in Lincoln, but I don't know if people will trade off their convenience for that.
  15. Now, I am just trying to form an opinion based on what has been stated so far. I am sure it is annoying to find cigarette butts and other trash in your yard. But, I think the best way to solve this problem is try to be nice to the guy, and be friends with him. Now, he may not be the guy you want to hang out with on a regular basis, but don't be a complete a-hole, just because he isn't doing things like the rest of the neighborhood. Yes, excessive noise late at night is a pain in the ass, but it's the summertime. People are going to have parties and hang out. Also, if you go over there and say "Hey, my wife and kids are trying to get to sleep, can you turn down the music", I am sure he would do it. Now, I don't know the situation 100%, but most people aren't that big of an a-hole to say "screw you, I am not turning down the music".
  16. Our #2 RB.... If he can pick up the pass protection, it's hard to argue with that logic.
  17. Love seeing a DT with a single digit number for some reason. It is a cool look.
  18. I have know idea what kind of woman Mrs. Beliema is, but Anna Benson is trash. She was "hot", but she is trash.
  19. He probably has paperwork to file with the university and such. They said something about him not being here for the summer doesn't allow him to be at fan day.
  20. I think some parents are scared of pushing their kids to a higher level because they want to see their kids succeed. They are afraid that if their kid does poorly at a higher level, it will hurt their self-esteem. But, most kids will understand that moving up a level, provides them with a challenge and will help them in the long run. That said, I will echo what has been said in the thread. If he is not playing at all (on any team), it doesn't make any sense to move him up. If he is suiting up at a higher level for emergency purposes and still playing at a lower level, that is normal.
  21. I think it depends on how the younger kids are used in the program. When I was in high school (20 years ago, mind you), there were a few freshmen and sophomores that would suit up with the varsity on Friday nights, just in case. These kids would get their reps on the JV team. Of course, these kids were the kids who matured early, and were big and strong enough to handle playing at the JV/Varsity level. When I was a sophomore, there was a kid who came in as a freshman at nearly 6'5" and 250-275 lbs. He was on the frosh team about 1 or 2 days before he was moved up to JV/Varsity. He went on to start at OT for NU in the late 90s. I think the argument for letting the kids play "at their level" is to keep with the social aspect of being with kids their own age and being able to play with their friends.
