  1. June Jones to take the ASU job and Fedora to UNC. Also read that Randy Shannon to Arky for DC job.
  2. I have stated it before and I will say it again. If JP gets promoted, I think we should go after Tosh Lupoi from Cal to becaome our DL coach and RC. This guy can recruit circles around our current guys and would be awesome to have. I don't think he will leave Cal though.
  3. I would go for JP moving to DC with a limited role while Bo grooms him and go after Tosh Lupoi from Cal to coach our DL and possibly RC. Let JP keep special teams
  4. Times changing has little to do with it. It's about control for the coaches. Lane Kiffin pulls double-duty as HC/OC, yet he still pays an OC to consult with, but Lane is really calling the shots on offense. Gary Patterson is doing the same thing at TCU as HC/DC. They're still prevalent in today's landscape. Personally I'd like to see Bo pull double-duty and reclaim full control of defensive play calling. He can promote JP to DC in title & money. This allows JP to have a "passenger seat" view alongside Bo, giving him experience for his own long term benefit if he wants to be HC elsewhere in the future. In that scenario I'd hire a new DL coach and relieve JP from Special Teams duty by handing it over to Ross Els since he pulled double-duty as LB and Special Teams coach at Ohio. However if Bo wanted to go for the "splash" hire that most here are hoping for, then yeah, Stoops makes sense. I'm just skeptical that our sideline can handle having that kind of ego between the two of them working alongside each other. If our defense has any meltdowns like we had this season, Bo & Stoops going at each other's throats would be worse than Bo & Carl going at it. It's a risk/reward thing that needs to be considered in such a scenario. I would go for this and then hire Tosh Lupoi from Cal to be our DL coach. I don't think he would come here, but I would love to try and get him.
  5. I would take Matt davis, Trey Williams and Colin Blake.
  6. Oof. This might be good for us...Maybe Peat can whisper in his ear about possibly coming here together. I know Peat is not a sure lock but we have a very good chance at getting him.
  7. Everyone wants to keep JP here for recruiting purposes and what not, but Stoops is a hell of a recruiter also. I don't think we would skip a beat if JP left and Stoops came in with getting recruits. Isn't Zook a defensive guy also? Might be a second thought.
  8. Seriously dude. Have you ever seen the Pg Up button on your keyboard. If you take the time and look through the thread you won't be getting such a harsh reply People actually use that button!!! I thought everyone just used the mouse arrow! Have you ever used the "end" button? I am kind of worried to hit it! On that note, I was worried about "hitting it" a few nights ago but I still did. Lets just say it was worth it in the end, if you know what i mean. It will take awhile for the symptoms to show up, if you know what I mean.
  9. Like DeAnthony Thomas? I just read that after I posted mine.
  10. If we are making a big push, is it because we really want him or is it that Carnes is more then likely out the door.
  11. If DJ came here, I would imagine he would play the Percy Harvin role for us. Put him in slot, rb, out wide or even wildcat. This kid is VERY good with the ball in his hands.
  12. This doesn't make sense to me either. His offer list is 4 star worthy imo. The same could be said for Vincent V. as far as offers go.
  13. we blitzed/applied pressure - we caused turnovers. we have 10 interceptions this year. Bullocks had 10 himself in 03'. 32 total for the team. Add in 15 fumbles and we caused 47 turnovers compared to 18 this year. And that is the difference between 03' Pelini and 11' Pelini. Imagine if we caused almost 2.5 more turnovers per game this year. We wouldn't be sitting at 9-3. And this is what I don't get about his scheme the last couple years. He said that we run it to make the offense work for their yards and hope for a mistake by them to give us the ball back. Why not try to force them into making the mistakes by going after them and hurrying their decisions. I think Pelini can scheme like no other, but sometimes he needs to mix it up alittle.
  14. Haven't you heard, a 10 win season is unacceptable around here.
  15. The mentality of the kids. It's just not in Neb, but everywhere. The kids these days want everything handed to them and do not want to work for it. A guy has to wonder how many kids that have walked on lately just go thru the motions of practice and don't give effort because they are apert of the team and that is good enough.
  16. He's rumored to be on Urban Meyer's staff at OSU. I think he turned down the Owls. And I heard he's turned down at least one other HC job too. If thats true, thats going to be a scary team.
  17. Cant some of you just be happy that we won. Its flippin pathetic with some of you.
  18. I see it different also I see a bunch of whiney asses on here I see that some will never be happy with our coach I see some that are rational and some that aren't I see ones that stand by the team, win lose or draw and not complain As for the team I see a young coach and staff, minus a couple guys I see a young and talented team I see a team that is trying to find it's way in new lands I see a team that needs to grow up, young and even old A 10-3 record will be just fine with me. They can even do it next year and I will be happy.
  19. and play second fiddle to USC? I can certainly see him going there but I (even w/ the red glasses off) think Nebraska is in a much better situation for a coaching prospect than UCLA. It's not like Mangino left KU. There is potential here. He wouldn't be starting over w/ a new QB. Which is also why Johnson would be intrigued IMO. G-Tech can't pull in recruits like Nebraska would be able to. Johnson would have a better oportunity for it to work in the Big10. Likewise it would be such a drastic difference than each team see's every week it would give us an advantage. I think that's why you see some of these Big10 teams lose a couple times every year, even when they are highly ranked...they're all essentially the same. I don't see any of these coaching here either. But I dont' think it's too far fetched to think they'd be interested...or at least entertain the thought. No. I don't want to entertain the thought. This 'fire the coach' or 'replace the coach' thread only happens when we lose. You never hear about it when we win. Changing coaches like we change our underwear is poor. It smacks of 'insecurity' in the ranks. I like Bo and I think he's going to be fine. He just needs the chance to grow as a coach and as an individual. Our boys are young but they have talent. All of the coaches that were listed were contacted when we were looking for a new coach the last time and yes we had heard about them already. None of them answered the call. I don't know if you remember but the fans were crying for Bo to come here before Callahan came here. Peterson didn't want him and look what we got. I shudder to think what we would get should Bo decide to leave. He's a popular commodity in the B1G. His name has already been mentioned in the same breath as Urban Meyer's and Bob Stoops to take over at Ohio State. If you want a different coach so badly then root for another team. Most folks here want Bo to stay put. Everything you mentioned was spot on...Its nice to hear a voice of reason and rational thinking
  20. Peterson won't come here when he could probably go to UCLA after Skippy is canned and as far as I'm concerned, it would be a smarter move because he would get lots of time to heal the program. If they have let Skippy have this much time, I'm sure they will let Peterson. I wouldn't want Paul Johnson because I don't care for the triple option, if it can't win the ACC, it will not win in the B1G. Golden would take Penn State before he comes here.
