  1. Good for him. I was good buds with Mike for a few years, congrats to him.
  2. I'd say the majority of the reason is this, indeed. Coupled with where the student section is, that's just how it is going to be. It's a terrific place to play no doubt, maybe one of top 15 in the country to PLAY football. But, that goes for both teams that play.
  3. He was also a very SMART football player. Something I almost appreciate more than raw talent. Playing smart usually lasts longer in the NFL than raw talent.
  4. Can't imagine that feeling. Amazing.
  5. If uniforms win/lose games...why are we recruiting players? We should be recruiting Nike and their outlandish uniform designs...CAUSE THEY'RE WINNING. This is only here for those who can't take a joke. The end.
  6. I truly wish the internet was around back when they changed uniforms in the past. From subtle to significant. I wonder how many people ACTUALLY believe(d) we were going down the drain decades ago. If we are really going to believe that a change in uniform will ruin our tradition or that we lose games because of a certain uniform...WE are the problem. Not the uniform. As this has been said before, just throwing my 2 cents out there. I'm for whatever change they want to do, to be honest. It's one game, big deal. And for what it's worth...Michigan's alternates...WERE HORRIBLE. Just because they were like the old times, doesn't automatically make them awesome. LSU's, were terrific. Subtle but significant.
  7. Let's not forget 2002 when Solich opted OUT of 3 field goal tries to go for it on fourth down. One of which (the last one) resulted in a Jammal Lord to Nathan Vasher interception after a beautiful punt return by DeJuan Groce...to end the game as a 3 point loss. But, I feel Northwestern or Michigan will end up being that team(s) we just can't get past...what so ever. Northwestern loves to beat up on the big boys, who play arrogantly. And Michigan, just smells of our old nemesis in the Big XII. They do.
  8. If anything, why not let 'em wear black for the "red/white" game. Let the kids and some fanboys have fun with different uniform looks for a scrimmage. Get it out of their system.
  9. Beck called an odd game. Martinez did what he was supposed to, and well actually. There still was not enough running the ball. The problem is that Bo will NEVER play a QB spy and we WILL continue to lose and look terrible against agile/athletic QBs. We also never seem to actually prepare for a specific team completely.
  10. I still feel that "The Heroes Game" is a bit much. I would have much rather copied another game's title (Iowa/Nebraska Border War) than to call it something it completely is not.
  11. When Rex Burkhead jumps into a lake, he doesn't get wet, the lake gets Rex Burkhead.
  12. If he doesn't fumble or throw a pick, he's offsides.
  13. Alabama's "A" gloves...heck, how many of you own NCAA '12 with Ingram's paw in your face with the logo on it?
  14. The other thing with this though, is whenever a player is injured (actually) they show a replay to show what happened, about 90% of the time. I don't recall one single replay (and I haven't watched the replay of the game yet) of an injury to an MSU player. The one for Rex, I think was pretty obvious he was cramping up from doing EVERYTHING, except kicking.
  15. THANK YOU. Am I the only one that thought there was an "injured" MSU player on nearly every drive? It seemed like every drive there was 1-3 guys that'd go down. It was seriously frustrating. I know it's a very touchy subject with fans/coaches/players but honestly. That just seemed like a bit much. Especially when no replays were ever shown on WHY they went down in the first place as is per the norm.
  16. I've never been a fan of the "didn't want to be there" argument. Or really any excuse for a win or loss. Everything that happens is a part of the game. Turnovers, emotion, lack of emotion, play calling, penalties, among other things and obvious ones included.
  17. We did something similar to this in 2004, I still have pictures of it. Not as intricate as this one, but good nonetheless.
  18. Quite funny. Seems like we are starting to build a minor reputation for silly fan outfits this year. I'm ok with it, adds luster and character.
  19. It helps our secondary as a whole more than a basic package. I'm glad we got back to it, because our secondary is young/inexperienced and getting worked. But improving.
  20. Game ball goes to the entire team. Everyone did their part and did it well. They played like a team today and fought for everything. That was the most inspired and fired up defensive showing I've seen from us all year as well.
  21. Well, we only threw 13 times. We didn't "need" to use him, and we will see him being used and utilized more often as the years go on. He's a freshman, he'll get his time. Sure, maybe he could have made a play or two that would have sprung us loose (more than we already did)...but maybe he just wasn't a part of the game plan? How is he as a run blocker?
  22. “Hopefully there’s no wind so he can make no excuses when we go out there and do our thing.” If anything, the above statement provided by MSU's defensive player is far more "fuel" for OUR locker room than anything. He basically (without exact specifics) stated that they're going to go out there and completely stop Martinez from so much as breathing. It's a shot at not only Martinez but our offensive line too. Just another way too look at it, instead of the socially awkward Martinez's comments. I love the kid, but he provides more "haha uh??"s from me than "ahh, yes indeed"s when he talks to the media. Which is fine, and another topic...sort of.
  23. I think good pitches is a critically important skill needed for an "actual qb" with this offense. Oh absolutely, I agree, but I want him to get other types of snaps too. Not just pitch left pitch right for a quarter.
  24. If a ton of backups get in on offense, I'd like to see Beck not call pitch left, pitch right for every freshman running back we have. And to actually give Carnes meaningful snaps. Handing off and pitching are necessary of course, but so is actually being an actual quarterback.
