  1. Isaiah Austin, Baylor player that was honorarily drafted to the NBA after finding out he couldn't play due to recent diagnosis of Marfane Syndrome, was just cleared to play basketball again. Pretty amazing

  2. Chance of big snow during the big visit period next weekend. This will be fun

When Tommie Frazier visited Lincoln as a high school senior, there was record high temps in Lincoln that weekend. Big stroke of luck considering he was in from Florida.

Snow ball fights again!! Last years recruits loved it.

  3. We've had great quarterback recruiting. We just haven't had them pan out, for whatever reason(s). Great is a pretty generous way to describe our QB recruiting up until last year. I would say average at best. Recruiting is measurable by results, and by that token it's been 8 years of 2 guys basically accounting for pretty good QB play with almost no real depth behind them. Recruiting is measured by recruiting results, in which case I'm entirely comfortable calling it great. Tommy Armstrong Jr, Johnny Stanton, and Zack Darlington were all very highly regarded and were our #1 picks on top of our board. Tommy was a 5.7 3 star according to rivals with offers from Oregon and Ucla. Stanton was a 5.7 3 star with offers from Oregon and Wisconsin. Darlington was a 5.5 3 star with offers from Ohio State and West Virginia. Part of recruiting is identifying difference makers. You say they were our top QB choice, but should they have been? "Great recruiting" is identifying difference makers (top level talent) and landing them. I'm not so sure these were top level talent guys, except Stanton.

  5. All the talk has been that if he gets his grades up, and gets a qualifying ACT score, he'll get a scholly. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at a Juco if Nebraska wants to stash him for a couple years. PS, those ideas always sound great, but can anyone name the last time it actually worked out that way? (Meaning, we stashed him at a JUCO and then they eventually ended up at Nebraska) Who was the kid that Pelini put at Iowa Western with the intent of bringing him back? It happened during the transition, and Riley passed on him. In a business sense, it at least lets the program get a look at a kid against competition that is a higher level than Class A football in Nebraska. That would be Vondrae Tostenson. It was RB Larenzo Stewart from Klein, Texas. Kid was a jitterbug and great return man.
  6. Besides a references to the pipeline, how are we sure this is directed at him? I'm honestly missing it. I also don't get the bear thing. Fosters twitter handle (name) is @thebigfozbear I believe it is a nickname, and if so it is fitting. Just another loophole the coaches can use to avoid NCAA violations
  7. I think my biggest disagreement was when he and Cowherd both mentioned the NCAA not having a commissioner for football. Why the hell would they need a commissioner when they have an entire governing body. We all know everyone's thoughts on Gooddell. College football doesn't need that. If NCAA football wanted to become a farm system for the NFL that would be the quickest way to get there.
  8. Anyone else watch this video? What are your thoughts on Joel Klatts ideas? I think he is a pretty well-respected figure in sports but I gotta say I completely disagree with just about everything he said. Also: wasn't sure what thread to put this in so I just put it here. Mods move as you see fit.
  9. Weren't even mentioned in the most recent update on him. Said he's solid with Arizona and will OV there the last week before signing day. Hoping to still visit Notre Dame at some point.
  10. Where are you seeing these rumors? Pretty sure it is based on an interveiw with McQuitty a couple weeks ago where he was asked who he was rooming with next year and his response was listing a couple current commits and something to the effect of "or someone else but I can't say yet". Many people took that to mean we have a silent commit. While that's possible, it seems more likely to me that it was someone else we are recruiting who may be close to committing but hasn't yet. Not sure though. Also, there has been some posters on different boards being told that he is going to Nebraska. One case was the Michigan boards Mods (very possible they were trolling) and another case was a guy that went to the tOSU game and spoke with a guy that is "in the know there". tOSU guy basically said Urb stopped recruiting Darnay because they know he's going to NU. Obviously that is very hard to believe, I was simply bringing up the thought of the silent commit factor because everyone (for good reason) has basically dismissed Nebraska from the running for Darnay and I think it would be the biggest recruiting smoke and mirrors show in history if he would turnout to be the silent commit.
  11. Reading on some other boards, there are a couple different stories going around involving tOSU and Michigan people saying that Darnay is coming here and it's pretty much already final. Now, I don't really believe it at all and think they are just trolling us to get our hopes up. But, with us knowing there is at least one "silent-commit" on top of these rumors, would that not be the absolute biggest proverbial 'middle-finger' to the recruiting services that cover this stuff. Again, I don't think any of it is true and I honestly think he will end up going to Michigan, just thinking about how funny it would be if he decided long ago to do this.
  12. We didn't need anymore QBs on the roster at that point. We had Tommy, Fyfe, Bush, and Stanton all on scholly. No need to use another scholly on a guy that wasn't going to be any good since we would have had to rush to find someone.
  13. We were down by more than the spread (21) when Tommy got hurt with like 7 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. Stop kidding yourself. We were driving to cut the lead potentially to 24-10 when he got hurt. Instead we get no points and watched our senior leader get taken out in an ambulance. That's a pretty big momentum swing I would say. I like your optimism. I woke up this morning and cursed the daylight savings time as I thought it might have given OSU more time to score again. I'm not saying we would have won, pretty obvious our defense wasn't going to get any stops on a consistent basis last night, but I do think it would have been a much more respectable outcome. We will never know though

  15. I think these look pretty awful honestly. I understand that they are modeled after their uniforms from the year they are celebrating, but I'm just not a fan of the look. Adidas isn't the only one to make bad alternates.
  16. When we had Newby getting 5+/carry and Wisky was stacking 8-9 in the box...and we can't take advantage of that with the talent we have? That's a piss poor job on any OC. Sorry you can't see that. It would be a different thing if Langsdorf actually called sweeps/toss/boundary plays, used misdirection, and had Tommy roll out on designed plays (and not Tommy scrambling for dear life) and the game was lost. Or hell, we run zone read option--why not install one or two rollout option pass plays for situations where you have the defense selling out in the middle? We ran a few sweeps and even a reverse to westy, their defense is just too disciplined to over pursue or get out of position. Also doesn't helps that our best run blocker and most versatile offensive weapon is injured. I don't think people realize how pivotal Cethan really is in our offensive success.
  17. Sports-reference.com is a very accurate site for all different sports. They list us with 852 wins putting us 3rd behind Michigan at 906 and Alabama at 886. Right behind us is Penn St at 839 and Texas at 838.
  18. What about an 18 play drive covering almost 10 minutes followed by an 11 play drive against Illinois when we needed them? 15 plays spanning over 7 minutes to ice the Indiana game? 9 plays over 4 minutes to go up 24-13 against Northwestern? You get my point. It seems to me that our offense is actually very reliable to drive the field and put points on the board when they have needed them the most. None, of these teams have the defense Wisconsin does, but I don't think it is overly optimistic to believe we will continue that trend against them either. Edit: Also, forgot the 11 play 80 yard drive covering 5 minutes to take the lead against Oregon
  19. The result of tackling at the chest and shoulders is not extra yards. That is the exact technique taught to stop 'leaky' yardage. You tackle high to stand them up, stop momentum, and either wait for help or drive them back. Extra yardage comes from tackling low and the runner falling forward or keeping his balance and dragging the tackler for a few yards.
  20. Has another brother, Osiris, that is a senior and is committed to Stanford. He's listed at 6'2", so I would say it is safe to assume that Amon-Ra is going to grew at least a couple more inches. Even if he doesn't, he has shown that he has more than enough athleticism to make up for it.
  21. People still think the toad is a solid choice? I thought it was altogether quarantined by anyone with a pulse.
  22. According to Tom VanHaaren (ESPN), Darnay's dad said they won't take any officials now until November. Meaning he isn't going to Michigan this weekend anymore. Michigan, Ohio St and potentially NU will get officials with Georgia and Tennessee potentially getting unofficials.
