  1. ^^^ This. And a lot of times the games are played on the other teams home turf, or nearby. It's tough to face USC or UCLA (years past) in the Rose Bowl. Just like it's tough to go down to the Orange Bowl and face a Florida team. Too bad we don't have a major bowl in, say, St Louis. +1
  2. I think I heard the best characterization of this offense today by Urban Meyer. He said we have a package offense. That makes sense to me. I like it as I think it's accurate. I will go with that.
  3. They do give some good insight, but I got tired of them pounding on the same points all the time. (Huskers defensive alignment & making excuses for MSU).
  4. Beck's inexperience at OC shows during the last 2 minutes.
  5. IMO 'all-time' covers a lot of ground and you can put together tremendous teams from all the traditional powers. I think it would be a push in most cases. One thing I found interesting is the coach picks. It would be interesting to see who goes with who between Mcbride/Kiffin/Pelini. I think I'd go with Charlie because I like his defensive style more than the others.
  6. I anticipate a feast or famine game. If MSU don't hit the right gaps TMART could have a big game. I also look to see some slants and some big plays that way. Key is to stay patient and don't get behind the sticks.
  7. I think you need an offensive identity to recruit too. For instance if your a running team you may want to recruit more run blockers than pass blockers. If your a power team you might be recruiting FB's. etc Can the word philosophy and identity be interchanged? My preference for an offensive identity is run based with play action passing. I want 70-30 run/pass ratio. I don't know what our offensive identity at this point is. I don't think they have one.
  8. This is a big game. I would of thought that this would be a 2:30 game and the Neb vs Minnesota would of been an 11 am game. Go figure.
  9. I hope the starters play 1 series or 2 series at most. Need to get Carnes some snaps. Would like to see Green get some snaps. Finally some jailbreak screens! Don't want to see Evans on corner blitz anymore. He's not a blitzer. For awhile Minnesota reminded me of Kansas and the early Mangino years. They play pretty hard but kill themselves and get a lot of bad breaks.
  10. I like Pirman as a TE, I hope he plays there. Max is very athletic and tall which IMO makes him a great choice as a TE which is a need besides LB. We need some physical LB's that can get downhill and get leverage against those b1g lineman & fullbacks. I am not a huge fan of tall LB"s.
  11. I am guessing this is not just a FB but is also a possible H-BACK. Someone who can replace Legate or Thomsen. I think they are liking what Thomsen is doing. I know I am.
  12. I like this guy. Very physical, quick first step
  13. I think the best way to do it is play your primary sport solely for a couple of years to get proficient and then go play the other sport. Gill, Thomas, Davidson and Erstad did that roughly.....
  14. David is 3rd in the b1g in tackles. There are 2 iowa lb's in front of him. The team has a very heavy dose of B1g defensive line people so maybe that's another reason why they didn't go with David. I really don't understand why they have Upshaw picked. He has 18 tackles for the season. EIGHTEEN.
  15. Except i think Bo found out Cooper isnt a corner. Doesnt seem to have the hips. That's what I thought. Coop looked a bit stiff in the hips and looked like he is more suited for safety. SJB seems to be a little more fluid turning those hips. DB should be wide open next year. Mohammed Seisay could help us given that he already has some experience.
  16. The thing that I like is that they improved by the end of the Ohio State game from what they did at Wisconsin. So Kudos to the coaching staff and the team for fixing things so fast.
  17. Actually I can recall a time where Bo blasted a fan who called into the coaches radio show one time when he was the DC. It was just some poor smuck who didn't phrase his question very well and asked Bo how he was going to fix a problem that he had on defense with the linebackers or something like that. Bo immediately got very defensive and jumped all over the guy. The guy wasn't being all that critical and obviously was just a casual fan who was trying to get a better understanding. I felt really bad for the guy. That was a long time ago though so I think he has gotten better with the fans.
  18. We are 9th in the b1g in defense. We are losing the turnover battle in most games. The offense is inconsistent. Injury at certain spots would absolutely destroy this team. Not sure I would use the term roll, it could happen but I sure am not going to count on it.
  19. Loudness definitely depends upon where you are at in that stadium. It will be interesting to see how much louder it gets when they add the east bank of sky boxes.
  20. Really? Pretty much every college basketball fan knows of Creighton. They just don't know where Creighton is at. Hell, when I was at Epley there were some layover people there that didn't even know where Omaha was. The comments on the press tiff is an example why it's bad business to get into a public tiff with the press. That's a negative impression that is being carried back to state of Ohio. A place where we need to recruit. They won't know all the sides of the story. They just know the brief bit that they heard. I agree there are a lot of commercials on the radio, but it's better than during the Swain days. THAT was awful.
  21. I don't see any problem with big jumps&drops in polls when your halfway through the season. Non-conference doesn't tell you much of anything usually. The jumps/drops will get smaller as the season goes along and as you find out more about the teams. Polls are flawed to begin with. Like the previous poster said, the only thing you can ask for is an honest, non-political, non-biased, conscientious voter.
  22. Don't know if it was Crick or not but one of our guys got tackled and the broadcaster guy even mentioned 'the hold' as he called the play. I hate it when our DLine gets tackled. They need to run them through running back drills or something. Lots of hands to the face too, not just stiff arm type.
