  1. I would like to see how this lineup would do against Wisconsin Meredith Crick Baker Carter Compton David Stafford (nickel) Evans (CB) Dennard(CB) PJ Osborne I think Carter needs to get more time. Ankrah and Williams have been adequate but it seems like Carter has been factoring in more when he plays. I would like to see Carter get more time against Wisconsin, otherwise I would say get Randall or Moore in as a DT and slide Crick to RE. Also want to see the bigger safeties play. Not sure what to do with Fish. The 4-3 would be good to play against Wisconsin but I want Stafford on the field. I am not sure how strong FIsh has been. If Fish is in I want Stafford to take Osborne's spot.
  2. Did he burn his shirt? I saw his name in the participation report, but that thing is not always accurate. Did he make the travel squad? Anybody know of a published travel list?
  3. Am I off in my thinking when I say that Taylor should not of run out of bounds on the 3 yard line. In that situation you do what you can to get in the endzone?
  4. It was the correct call IMO. I think Dennard was aware the receiver didn't catch the ball and was 'checking' the receiver. He just did it a shade to late and the receiver was in a defenseless position. I think the foul call on Tmart was accurate. I don't think the hit was late, I think it was too high up around the head area, especially the elbow. I think the call on Thorell was bad. I thought Thorell played good coverage there. He did turn a bit late but he has a right to his position and was almost turned around when the ball hit him. I thought it was good D. Frankly I don't think Thorell has played all that bad as the dime. I would rather have him there then Blatchford. As far as the FG I can accept the reason given for the call.
  5. I think we will start with the quick pitch to attack the perimeter. We will continue to attack the perimeter with bubble/slip screens, options and ptiches until they start to load the box and hedge the outside. Then we will run counters and some deep stuff. Quick hitters up the middle.
  6. Taylor is fine when he is throwing to a stationary target or to a target with little angle. I also think he is ok throwing deep. That's because the deeper you go the less angle there is. He may underthrow due to armstrength but that's not necessarily a bad thing as WR's can adjust to that. Throw it and let the WR's run under it. Taylor has trouble leading receivers, so hold your breath on crossing patterns, outs, flags and posts. Skinny posts, deep slants and fly patterns are ok. It's like skeet vs trap (If I understand those 2 correctly....)
  7. Run plays until you can run the clock out with the victory formation. Game is done get it over with. Pretty standard & accepted practice. A.J got a TD last year so it's not like he hasn't seen the EZ.
  8. Pears, Apples, oranges > grapes? In my opinion no but then it all depends on what you like and how you use it.
  9. It was a strange combination of players tonight. I can't hardly believe that those are the DB's that will play next week. I gotta believe your going to see Evans and Dennard at CB with Stafford playing nickel. For some reason our Dline aren't getting their hands up this year to impede some of those slants. On defense Whisky likes to blitz a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of option & bubble/slip screens next week maybe some fullback trap. Some diamond formation. Would like to see a lot of the power wing formation. They sure looked vulnerable on the edges that one game, although they may have that fixed by now. On offense our safeties have to play well and not get sucked in or we will be in trouble. Whisky likes the play action pass game. Would say we should play base 4-3 but I don't think that's our best group of players at this time.
  10. I think Stafford looked pretty decent at the nickel for his first time. Put Evans and Dennard at CB. Move Cooper back to safety. Then have Mitchell or Green compete for the Dime. I want to see a lot of PJ Smith & Osborne at safety against whisky.
  11. Hope you do well in your conference. You have a well coached team. Your QB is good. Good luck.
  12. Strange time of year for that type of discussion. I would think Meyers would be a big candidate. How about Ed Stewart?
  13. Cooper is best suited for safety. I think I would rather see Andrew play CB and go through the growing pains. Too bad Josh didn't make the trip. Surprised they don't give Bell or Washington a shot.
  14. After watching the first half, Cooper is best suited for safety. I am ready for them to end this experiment. Would rather go through growing pains with Andrew
  15. I thought JP was on the field vs being in the box but he is actually in the box along with Els and Raymond. I am surprised they have 3 defensive guys in the box. Maybe they should move Els down to the field.
  16. I also am surprised that the db's are struggling. Then again I am surprised the whole D is struggling.
  17. Some blocks are just suppose to be chip blocks then you go after your true assignment. Some your suppose to hold a count longer before going on. I think it's a learning experience and more of an art than a science.
  18. Glad to see Cooper and Jackson mentioned for playing time.
  19. I like the fact that PJ is going to see the field more.
  20. Interceptions are a product of decision-making more than mechanics. But mechanics can do make a big difference, thats why the NFL tries to work over many young QBs. Why not attempt to make them better. And as to Husker QB's with good mechanics, remember Vince Feraggamo and David Humm, they both threw it beautifully. How about Turner Gill or Gerry Gdowski or that Brooke Berrigner dude. Actually Gerry was probably one of the best passers we had. Yeah I remember bashing Gerry's passing up through his junior year because he didn't have a very strong arm. Then he went on to have a fantastic year throwing and passing his last year. That's a lesson I won't forget.
  21. Actually there are a lot of Wyoming fans that are Nebraska fans. With every message board you will always have some fanatics that make a lot of noise and are very outspoken. True for Nebraska fans as well. People are people.
  22. Throwing motion can be hard to change as it's what he has done for years. That may be what's natural to him. I wouldn't mess with it at this time. What can be fixed is his footwork and body position when he throws. That's correctable in the short term and will help his accuracy and velocity.
  23. Not sure if this is a solution for this year but he would be matchup nicely in the future to some of the bigger WR's in the B1G. Strikes me as a safety though rather than a cb. Not sure how quick he is?
