  1. But if you hit on 1 out of 4 you can underpay for...the length of their employment. Worth the risk?
  2. No Ramsey, no chance. Dude delivered B1G knowledge, production, and experience that Hunter and Hilinski (sp?) can't offer. They will need to rebuild around one of those guys in 2021 to be a challenger again in 2022 or 2023 depending on the defense.
  3. Not what I alluded to, but thanks for getting the text to what Frott Scost already outlined. The noted claim was the paid wage which can be as low as $2.13/hr by employer.
  4. But that is what the employer pays as long as customers make up the difference (less taxes and all the other hidden employment expenses that I am not arguing over).
  5. I think $2.13/hr in Nebraska says otherwise.
  6. You don't stay in teaching, if you don't really like teaching or the benefits it offers. I know someone who acts/sounds just like teach and rips on kids all the time, but still stays at his position. I think free summers and working their way into coaching is important. Another, really likes teaching, but isn't in the field mostly because the pay is bad. They need a better paying job for their family.
  7. I don't know. How many people who don't live in your community know your positions exist? Without the expressed answer from you (details I am sure you don't want to divulge), I am still completely unaware of your exact business and wouldn't even begin to know to look for it and I grew up in the same state and would have probably benefitted from a position in your company.
  8. That is great. Your description of your business and employment history/employee hardships shows that your do pay well and improve a lot of peoples lives. But are there still people in your community working lower paying jobs? Are all bank tellers under 25 and move on to great jobs elsewhere? I do enjoy your point of view, but there are circumstances across the board across the nation. Can you industry employ another couple million people to get everyone better paying jobs? I am not. You get paid s**t to deal with s****y people.
  9. Not everyone gets to be a teacher.
  10. You usually don't pay someone $20+/hr for a skill they learned at a <$12/hr job. Most of the time, it is better to be cultivating that skill fulltime without employment or building a business than taking a position that locks you into lower pay without the time to grow. When the person has a <$12/hr job, they have to meet the demands of that job and be onsite during employment hours. Those employment hours more often conflict with the time required to be interviewing or in front of the other employment opportunity. Add in any family, travel time, and other issues, it is not easier to find a job when you have a job. Also, if you have worked too long in a certain field (i.e. low paying one where raises tend to be nonexistent or pennies a year) you are poisoned by expectations from a potential employer. Just like you said, employee made $12/hr for 7 years in that job, why should I pay you $20/hr at this job now?
  11. I have avoided this game for many years as a beat down that nobody should revisit. I finally got recommended it one too many times and checked it out out of morbid curiosity. Eric Crouch came out too amped/tight and had a quick fumble and missed some easy throws that put us down 21-0 pretty quick. After we pull it together and fix some of the over aggressive defensive calls with all the linebackers at the LOS, we generally shut down Colorado's run game. By the end of the 3rd quarter we fought back into the game and are down by 12 with the momentum, before we had another lapse in defensive assignments (you can pull linemen on aggressive fits? who knew?). Once we had another leak when playing from behind it was over, but the game crushing, we didn't deserve to be on the field, annihilation that I had once remembered was gone. All I saw was a bad start from what was a good player and a defense that took too long to adjust to keep them in it. 28-3 in the first quarter is something that all Nebraska teams have never been able to overcome. If they had to do it again, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2010 Washington/Nebraska scenario playing out between the two teams.
  12. What about the children?!? Why isn't anyone thinking about the children?!?
  13. I don't think many <$12/hour jobs make you more employable for $20+/hour jobs. In fact, they are probably detrimental, overall, to getting a lot of $20+/hour jobs.
  14. The intensity and duration may have been higher than any previous, but this wasn't unforeseen. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/16/natural-gas-power-storm/ https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-weather-texas-power-insight/why-a-predictable-cold-snap-crippled-the-texas-power-grid-idUSKBN2AL00N https://www.statesman.com/article/20110411/NEWS/304119704 It was just cheaper to ignore.
  15. We almost lost all our freedoms. Like, we were about to become much more like Columbia or Venezuela where people that aren't wanted disappear or are jailed. An authoritarian regime almost took over the United States and was a broken window of a women getting shot or a police officer baiting people in another direction away from becoming. The highest of threat level on your barometer kind of almost. BTW, just because the analogy doesn't work for you doesn't mean there wasn't something there to be had. An individual's inability to perceive an abstract idea and apply it to other systems doesn't make the thought invalid. The individual is just left missing the color in the brush that is applied to multiple paintings.
  16. So a massive hurricane is predicted for your South Carolina home on the beach, it moves south as it approaches land and hit Florida. Therefore, there are no more worries about a hurricane ever hitting South Carolina again and your beach front home is perfectly fine forever. No need to look into what could have been or what may occur following the impact elsewhere.
  17. That person tried to shoot me, but he missed, so what changed? Just keep going about your day since nothing happened. No need to bring them to court. No harm, no foul.
  18. Another piece of this is not getting support to other countries that aren't doing as well with vaccinations such as India and Brazil. They are a breeding ground for such variants to continue to harm the globe.
  19. Agreed across the board. Georgia lost big pieces on all three levels of the defense that carried them with an offense that was up and down, but got better. Wisconsin is probably better suited in the 20-25 range. Penn State was full of potential last year and after losing a lot of raw talent, they will be raw again. Miami was ok with the most notable win being against NC State. They too will have major pieces to reload on defense. Texas. I don't know what they expect with the general circus that tent has been since Brown left. Ehrling isn't around to save 5 games from being major upsets with 21 unanswered points in the last 5 minutes of games.
  20. Bow out and rent forever?
  21. You just had to bring this up...
  22. It also requires protection as well. You can see him just standing there knowing he has nothing to worry about. That was not the case last year.
