  1. Being we have zero indications at this point any of the current QBs on the roster will be game ready by 2017, it's not crazy to want to bridge the gap between the old regime and new. We seemed to recruit athlete first and QB second under Bo. This kid is pocket passer and unlike anyone on our roster less POB, who has some mobility. Add to the fact this kid has been sacked 42 times in 328 passing attempts, so that should be considered with his numbers. I'm not saying he's a miracle to our team; however, it's certainly worth a scholarship. As we planned on taking two QBs in 2016 at one point and could whiff on our final prospects.
  2. It's an insurance policy and a much needed one. We would have all our 2017 eggs in the basket of unproven talent(assuming POB isn't the second coming).
  3. I think this is a great move. I hope POB is half as good as the hype, but getting someone who has played D1 and has a year to learn the system is a great insurance policy. 2017 will be an open job at QB, so any true freshman that is afraid to come in and compete probably isn't who you want leading your team anyways. Also Bush is still a work in progress, as well as Darlington. This move allows a true freshman, POB, and a junior or senior with D1 playing time to all compete for the job.
  4. Well we are at least in his ear. Here's to a Hail Mary!
  5. Ivy is here, so selling the Juco Duo as the late saviors to the class and D could be a nice pitch!
  6. What Sam McKewon and the Tulsa World article are referencing is NOT any of the Big Ten teams joining the Big 12 conference, rather the potential that Oklahoma could join the Big Ten. David Boren, the Oklahoma President has a wish-list of things that he wants the Big 12 to act on, and if they don't than it is possible Oklahoma will start looking at other options. Would love to give Rutgers or Maryland the boot for these guys Both were added based on much more than just academics and sports. http://adage.com/article/media/east-young-man-expansion-a-boon-big-ten-network/300748/ Their markets were huge addition in terms of TV sets.
  7. If they do this without a network channel that's equally shared, it's not going to be poaching anyone from the Big 10. Maybe grab CSU and an Ohio school and call it good? If it's just to get a championship game, the economic incentive is hard to see. Upon reading all his comments, it's clear no Big10 school is leaving because they lose all media rights. He's basically for adding two teams to sure the numbers up to 12 and not just rush to add a championship. Makes sense, as trying to get a network and expansion all at once are not feasible, but neither is just adding a championship to just be another bandaid at 10 teams. In other words, he wants to expand ASAP, but have a plan.
  8. We just plug and play with some high risk Jucos and graduate transfers. We've tried the reaches on signing day for too long, it's time to change course! We will make it up in 2017! #insomnia
  9. He's literally just reaching out to commits even without a KSU offer. A few of our top guys are on his list.
  10. They had me till the end: "The schedule is navigable but tricky. Oregon visits Lincoln in September, and road trips to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Iowa loom large. This team will have to start games faster, finish games stronger and play games cleaner than last year."
  11. VV has the desired size for the 3-4 and nose guard in the NFL. He could drafted on that alone, as finding one while not impossible, makes the 3-4 very effective.
  12. I agree that star ratings of Jucos are less concerning, as most the services spend the majority of their effort evaluating high school prospects. This kid's film is solid and he has other offers AND we need some Jucos to provide depth to the D has we attempt to rebuild the roster.
  13. The quote came with many qualifying statements, though.
  14. Ohio State is winning/has Urban and Harbaugh can sell a kid on the NFL, plus is a proven winner on both levels.
  15. We are on the edge of a top 20+ class, just as much as rushing to fill spots and ending in the top 30. No use getting a boner or butt hurt at this point. These misses suck, but let's see what happens.
  16. It's time we adopt the Ron Prince Model and take 20 Jucos in one year!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Are we going to see a lot of late offers? Not a reflection on this kid, it is just starting to feel we might be rushing to fill spots
  18. Talk about a dream scenario in which the last QB to win a National Title returns 20 years later to restore the program. It will be a 30 for 30! That said, I'm glad he gets a trial run at UCF. If Riley fails, our next hire shouldn't be to hire someone simply because they have ties to past glory. Frost has plenty of potential and hope he is our savior, but the reality is we haven't been relevant for two decades, so the next hire can't simply be rooted in nostalgia or nepotism.
  19. His invite speaks specific to potential and is not the same as realizing it.
  20. The myth of the back up out playing the current QB is quite common; the myth of the 5th string QB who transferred to JUCO and received one formal D1 offer from UNLV out playing our starter is unique.
  21. Christ if we lose Valentine too, Juco at DT makes sense. I'm not saying we go Ron Prince and sign 20 Jucos, but less Maurice, Williams health is questionable, then we are hoping Newell, Stolenberg, and the Davis twins are game ready.
  22. If he goes medical, all the more reason we need another QB walk on/Scholarship that's a Juco or Graduate Transfer. Fyfe, Bush, and although a highly rated true freshman doesn't exactly bode well if Tommy goes down.
