huskerguy
What do you guys think we will do with the new recruits? Heres a list of them(with their posistion recruited as) and what I think might happen. Prince Amukamara-ATH- I could see this guy maybe making the field as a Kick or Punt Returner but not much else. He'll end up a DB or RB Anthony Blue-DB- Might see the field on Special Teams for kickoff coverage, most likely will redshirt. Jaivorio Burkes-OL- Hopefully he can get some playing time at the end of some games Quentin Castille-RB/FB- I think he could end up being a productive back for us. Limited plays at the beginning but a growing role throughout the year. Jared Crick-DE- Probably a redshirt, maybe play some Special Teams Field Goal Blocking. Demetrious Davis-DT- Maybe some late game action, otherwise redshirt. Kevin Dixon-DT- Maybe some late game action, otherwise redshirt. Curenski Gilleylen-WR- I see him getting moved to a DB unless he is impressive at WR Eric Hagg-ATH- He'll probably end up a DB maybe a longshot as a WR Roy Helu-RB- With the limited amount of RBs we have he might get some carriers, otherwise redshirt. Ryan Hill-TE- Ours TEs aren't that great theres a chance he could get on the field Marcel Jones- OL- Redshirt, this guy only played 2 years of HS football and has a huge potential Adi Kunalic-K- Hopefully he has a huge leg like I've heard! Blake Lawrence- LB- I think he'll play some Special Teams and late game stuff. Terrence Moore-DT- Maybe some late game action, otherwise redshirt. Niles Paul- WR- If he can pick up the plays quick enough, bring him in as a deep threat and let it fly. Austin Stafford- LB- Might play late game of Special Teams, probably Redshirt. Shawn Sullivan- DB- Redshirt, possible Kick off coverage Joseph Townsend- DT- I think he might see quite a bit of playing time, our DTs are all gone and he seems to be the best we brought in. Latravis Washington- S- Redshirt and bulk up to a LB William Yancy- DE- Maybe used as a pass rusher similar to Barry Turner as a Fresh. Quote Link to comment
chuckd
Just a few things: Dixon will not redshirt IMO. Unless he completely can't grasp the defense, I think he could challenge for a starting job or at least provide productive minutes. Gilleylen - Will NOT be moved from WR. He is a physical freak and IMO the most underrated recruit from last year. He runs a sub-11.0 100 and is well built. I could easily see him contributing on ST's and perhaps even getting some routes. Townsend - He is going to play base DE. He is a lot like Dixon, if he can pick up the defense, I think he could start/see lots of time. I believe he is in the same boat as Zach Lee (4 years to play 3) but I think he will play right away. Of the others, I will almost guarantee Paul and Castile gets some PT. How they adjust will constitute how much. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
yeah those all seem to be pretty valid points... I think Prince was the under the radar guy we got though, and Im most interested to see what we do with him. He seemed to be kind of a late bloomer in HS. Quote Link to comment
huskerfan500
It sounds like Davis isn't going to get the act score needed to get in. He only has a couple of chances to take it again. Both times he has taken it he got 16 while 18 is needed Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
Well he probably hasnt got his results from the latest ACT test that was just this month and theres another one in June so hopefully he can get it done Quote Link to comment
Spartness
The question is which ones will play an important role in the future. We already know, for whatever reason, a share of them will never play a down of football or have a limited role. Hopefully, there will be more contributing than not. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
As far as who plays this year and where, it will probally depend on how healthy this team stays throughout the year. If we have some injuries rack up in some areas, we could have to force some of these young guys into action a little sooner than usual. Quote Link to comment
Overland Park Husker
Austin Stafford- LB- Might play late game of Special Teams, probably Redshirt. I dont know where they'll end up, but Stafford better not cut his hair. Everyone needs a Predator on defense that can hit. Quote Link to comment
strigori
The O-linemen will redshirt. We have something like 14 linemen who are availible now. No reason to burn them. Niles Paul is the only WR with any chance of seeing the feild this season as anything other than a return specialist. Castile and Mendoza will see playing time becuase of injuries. Helo and Amukamara will probly both redshirt unless there are more injuries. I think Dixon, Townsend and Lawrenece will all see playing time as backups, and probly the rest of the defense players will redshirt. Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
amukamara and paul will play later in this season, write it down. Quote Link to comment
kc_husker
amukamara and paul will play later in this season, write it down. Why do you say this because we are not in the race for a BCS bowl ? Quote Link to comment
