huskerguy
I just heard that in their off week USC will be practicing in the noise and how to handle it. Pete Carroll said something to the effect of "Nebraska is on of the most hostile environments in college football" So to the obvious question of having this game at home being a huge advantage I think this shows it. Any time you have the opponent concerned about the environment instead of the gameplan and other things in the off week is a huge advantage. Quote Link to comment
cmb23
I don't think that's any big surprise (that they are practicing in noise) is it? At least for any team with a loud enough sound system. I know when I was in Lincoln from 93-97 that they pumped up the volume for multiple practices throughout the year.....I can't imagine that most of the big programs don't. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
I know... I just think its good to have USC worrying about us and the noise Maybe it's just because I'm so excited to be making that noise. Quote Link to comment
bethelbacker
There is a difference between practicing with blaring loudspeakers and playing in a top 25 game with the electricity of a live crowd there. That said, I don't think it'll affect USC too much, considering they have played in more than enough big games this decade. Quote Link to comment

Yeah and look what the most recent team has done, lost at UCLA and Oregon St. Quote Link to comment

I will be at the game yelling my ass off, and there is no way that Pete Carroll can practice that Quote Link to comment
DaveH
Yea, not really suprising. All schools do this. Oh yea, and Memorial Stadium could be louder than it is. Even then, it's only loud sometimes. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
Yeah Memorial is only really loud one or two games a year which is sad... just to many people who don't want to stand up and get the place loud unless its a big time game. The Texas game was rockin' last year and it was freezing/snowing so I expect much much louder 9/15 Quote Link to comment

admo
I've never been fortunate to see a game live, but observing from the Tele, Husker crowds never appear "hostile" as it is overplayed by coaches. From my standpoint, it usually looks like the fans are paying attention and reserved until a big play occurs. So it would appear that the noise level goes from mild cheering to deafening like that. But hostile? I dont think so. Quote Link to comment
Licensed to Ill
Here's a good idea for coaches. Ask all the frat boys and students to come to the stadium for practice and yell their asses off for a free t-shirt and lunch. Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
you know, i remember in the 70's when the damn stadium would actually shake, you could feel it move when people went ape-sh#t! the noise was just deafening, any old farts around that can tell me how it compares to present day craziness? bethelbacker
I get so disappointed with the lack of noise at some Nebraska games. I dont know if it's because a good amount of our fan base is 60+ or what, but it's too bad, we could be a lot louder than we are. Quote Link to comment
