hskerprid
Florida would definitely be fertile ground to have a guy with all those connections down there come to NU. This would be very good news indeed! Quote Link to comment
papersun87
I don't think he gives that coach speak BS either. He's a straight shooter. I like that. My thoughts exactly. If "good with the media" means a coach so determined to be politically correct that all he ever does is talk in circles, then I don't want a coach who's good with the media. Quote Link to comment
Bleeding Husker Red
The RB coach has already signed so if it is Porter he must have already decided. He is also the special team coach for LSU so it would make sense since those are the two area's that havent been filled. So that would make 4 LSU coaches coming to NU.... Bet Tiger fans will REALLY love Bo then! Quote Link to comment

They seemed to think that it might be the Florida RB coach now, so no one really knows other then BO. Either one sounds like a it would be a steal. Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
Yeah, I am betting that LSU fans will give us crap about this for a long time to come if we actually took 4 coaches off their staff...this will be especially true if their program goes into the dumper, which is always a good possibility with all the parity there is now with the reduction of the number of scholarships. Some day, I have a feeling that this will happen to Nebraska, where someone will take one of our coaches as a HC, and he will take several coaches with him...if and when it happens, we won't have any room to belly ache about it, will we? But fans have a short memory, they will forget that we did it first, but LSU fans will probably pop up to remind us of the fact. Either way, I am glad we are finally back to work, trying to straighten up what has been so screwed up the last few years. I just hope that parity don't keep us down, also. Quote Link to comment
Husker_Power
These two guys, are the only names suggested so far on this board as our possible running back coach. Larry Porter-current lsu asst head coach/running backs/special teams coach-bio Stan Drayton-current florida running backs coach-bio both have experience as both a running back coach and special teams coach, both are coaching their team in a bowl game, and both obviously had previously worked with bo. oh yeah, it doesn't hurt that both of these guys are really good at recruiting(could help alot) Has anyone heard of any other possible candidates? There are other names being thrown around like Shawn Simms but it is likely Porter or Drayton because of the fact they are waiting for after the bowl games to make the official announcement. Shawn Simms? I googled him real quick and found him as a linebacker coach from ISU formerly of Bowling Green. Coached Colorado (Purify tore us up) for a few years. Is this the guy? What do all you experts think of him as a choice? Quote Link to comment

It's not going to be Shawn Simms since it someone that is in coaching today and preparing for a bowl game. Quote Link to comment
huskerjack23
To add onto the Stan Drayton comment, they said that he had connections to Bo, and that he is originally form Ohio.... and that he was listed as one of the top 25 recruiters in NCAA.....landed 9 recruits for Florida last season, and recruits the state of Florida....the guys on 1620 were almost hoping that Stan is the guy. WOW!!!!!!! I hope it is too. Quote Link to comment
