Cy's Amazing Huskers/NFL Challenge 1.02

Recommended Posts

Since some spoil sport goofball, who shall go ******* (Bleeding Husker Red) spoiled my last challenge, I got back out the ol' 1976 NFL Preview Guide and came up with a second set of questions that even that Google Clown, who shall go ******* (Bleeding Husker Red) will be unable able to answer without months of research! Bwhahahaha!

Starting the 1976 NFL season there were 22 former Husker players on active NFL rosters. Name all of them.

For extra credit...name the teams they were on

For the grand prize...name the two former UNO players that started the 1976 season on active NFL rosters...

Take THAT you Googlers!!!!

without googling this or scrouing a press guide, I'm going to make a couple of guesses, howbouts you bold any that I get right, and the first person to get a player bolded, wins that player, then when they're all finished, the person with the most bolded wins...first guesses off the top of my head:

Rich Glover

Larry Jacobsen

Willie Harper

Frosty Anderson

Jeff Kinney

You got three for sure:

Glover - Eagles

Kinney - Chiefs

Harper - 49ers

Anderson wasn't one...going to have to check again on Jacobsen. Brown had retired by 76

Only 19 to go.

I would shoot from the hip and say Rod Kush & Marlin Briscoe?

Huskers I can think of...

John Dutton - Colts

Bill Olds

Jeff Kinney

Tony Davis - Bengals

Jerry Tagge - Packers

Doug Dumler - Vikings

Mick Tingelhoff - Vikings

Joe Blahak...play for the Vikings in the famous "Hail Mary" game in 1975

Don Westbrook (?) Patriots

Wille Harper - 49ers

Tom Alward - Tampa Bay

Rik Bonness

Ron McDole & Pat Fischer - Washington

Johnny Rodgers played for San Diego in 1978...played in the "Holy Roller" game vs Oakland...I don't know if he was on an NFL roster in 1976

A couple others I'm not sure of...Ken Geddes & Jim McFarland

Good shooting! Got lots of them in that bunch (by the way...I'm not counting rookies who were just drafted in 1976...including Davis and Bonnes because I already listed them in my first trivia challenge...which was ruined, by the way, by Bleeding Husker Red...but you didn't hear that from me

First...Briscoe was one of the UNO guys but Kush was not. Still have one left

For the Huskers though, you got -

Dutton

Olds

Kinney (already guessed)

Dumler

Tingelhoff

Blahak

Harper (already guessed)

McDole

Fischer

Geddes and McFarland were both on the list also. The other guys were not listed on any active rosters at the start of 1976. So, with your guys (along with Glover from earlier) you all have 12 of the 22 and one of the two from UNO...

I'm going to have to check on Tagge though...I seem to remember he was with the Bears after getting canned by the Packers when Scott Hunter took over the QB job...but he might have been cut after the 75 season...

Nope..Tagge isn't on the list. Jacobson is though so now you all have 13 of the 22. Couple of the ones left are so simple you'll kick yourselves...

Why has no one said Tom Ruud - Bills?

Others playing at that time that haven't been mentioned.

Pat Fischer - Washington

Bob Martin - Jets

Bob Nelson - Bills

John Lee - Chargers

Jim Burrow - believe he made the Jets squad that year before going to the CFL at the end of it.

Joe Orduna - Was he still in Baltimore?

Keith Wortman - Packers

As for the UNO player, that would proably be Marlin Briscoe, the first Black QB in the old AFL - he was a wideout for the Pats in '76.

Well, I would, but my high ethical standards forbid it. I feel it's just not proper to use my staggering intellect to win contests over members when I'm an Admin on the Board.

Fair play and all that.

Strokes fluffy white cat, swivels in leather chair, emits evil chuckle...
